They are old, but they work

  • Review: VNC charts can take a while to get updated, however, it is nice to see old landmarks like torn-up railroad tracks. Some new charts don't show where the rails used to run and that can be helpful flying in the day - we can still see the old rail line. The red lines of the roads is interesting, as you wouldn't see any roads with your red light. But most of the roads are small, so this works out half the time.

Generally same as US charts, with some differences.

  • Pros: Necessary for safe VFR and alternates
  • Cons: Study carefully in advance. Make notes ahead for cockpit.
  • Review: Have to read carefully. Some differences. The smaller airports don't always have the three code identifier code...so takes more time to enter into GPS.
Best to study in advance to familiarize. Lots of water so print is not as definite over water areas.
