Verified PurchaseQ: Can you compare the Hendricks 9-G Plus kneeboard with the Ultimate Kneeboard for use in negative G situations and also in compact cockpits like the Diamond DA-40? How are they different in terms of the leg strap, length, clipboard rigidity, access to pen loops, and build quality? I know the Ultimate Kneeboard is made in the USA; where is the Hendricks one made?
A:
The Hendricks 9-G Plus High Performance Kneeboard is a USA made product. Based on the needs that you described, I feel that the Hendricks kneeboard will be a better choice because it was designed for negative G situations. Whereas the Ultimate Kneeboard, also made in the USA, was not specifically designed for negative G situations. The 9-G Plus has a clear strap that goes across the board to hold papers/charts in place. The Hendricks kneeboard is also more rigid than the Ultimate. As far as the pen loops they both offer easy access. For a small cockpit like the DA-40, either of the kneeboards will work fine. The owner of MyPilotStore has a Van's RV-6 that has a cockpit about the size of the DA-20 and he loves his 9-G kneeboard.
Q: What is the length of the straps? My leg is 29 inches, will it fit or does it need to be modified?
A: The total length of the strap - from buckle to buckle - is approximately 25 inches. It is made of an expandable elastic material so it will stretch to 29 inches but it will probably be tight.
Q: picture looks like its gray in color or is black the only color? Thanks
A: This kneeboard is actually only available in black.
Q: Would this be useful for a single engine type aircraft pilot?
A: Yes, absolutely. This can really be used by any pilot. Anyone that has a smaller cockpit (fighter jets, helicopters, small single engine aircraft) seem to especially appreciate this kneeboard.
Q: Can documents, maps, etc be slid behind the clipboard?
A: There is a clear plastic pocket on the main part of the clipboard, however the clip itself is attached to the kneeboard so there is no room to slide anything in behind it.
Q: What are the *exact* dimensions of the clipboard?
A: The clipboard area itself is 5.75" wide and 8" tall.
Q: Hello, would like to know if it is possbile to attach charts/plates/etc on the right and/or left side of the clipboard. It mentions some kind of "document loops", but don't see how these would work? Please clarify.
A: It is possible to attach charts to the left and right sides. Each side includes flip chart loops.
