Dual USB Charging Jack is just what I needed

• Pros: Hard wired, very constant 5V DC output at all times, all conditions.
• Review: I bought a "Hardened Power" Longshot G3 device to power my GoPro camera, mounted on my Side-by-Side machine. But simply could not make it work, I could get the camera powered up, and then it promptly powered down.
  
  Figured out it was due to the 12 outlet and plug just didn't provide a constant 5V DC output to the Longshot.
  
  So I mounted on of these "hard wired" jacks in the dash. Then found out for some reason, you cannot use a USB extension cable, again, not constant 5V DC.
  
  So mounted another of these jacks closer so that I don't need a USB extension cable. Now things work perfectly!!

• Pros: Nice design for panel mounting
• Review: If you use an iPad Air 2, it demands 12W, or 2.4A at 5V. If you use the 2.1A charger, it will not keep up with the battery charging. It will slow the discharge, but eventually, it will not keep up with demand and your battery will go dead.
  Do NOT try to parallel these chargers, they are very simple regulators that are not designed for current sharing.
  We need a new product, don't you think?

Hard wired USB charging jack

• Pros: Hard wired...no more poor connections.
• Review: Was a little disappointed it didn't come with longer wiring harness. Would really have like to have it wired with no joints between fuse block and port.
  
  But used soldered, shrink tube covered joints an it works fine.
  
  Testing with my USB to multimeter harness I now get a very, very consistent 5V.
  
  Thus my Longshot G3 power source for my GoPro camera doesn't drop out due to the poor connections using a cigarette plug USB adapter.

• Review: After cutting a hole and installing the product which seemed like a very nice product I was informed by my A&P that we cannot use this. He said the FAA has been cracking down on items like this because it is not acceptable. I'm sure the component would've worked just fine but my A&P said it has to have a heat sink attached to it for fire prevention and overheating. So I removed it and I'll have to order a different component.
