A must have for you Practical Test

  • By Donna from Arizona on Wednesday, March 05, 2008
  • Pros: Designed to conform to PTS standards
  • Cons:
  • Review: The topics of this book were designed by the FAA to conform to pilot training and certification concepts in relation to the Practical Test Standards. The book is full of great visual references as opposed to the previous issue. In order to prepare yourself for the Instrument rating, as well as the Instrument Instructor rating, this book is a great reference for answers your examiner will be looking for. I would recommend using this book along side the ASA Instrument Pilot's Flight Manual. Side by side they give you the FAA designed concepts, as well as practical application and a broad understanding of subjects, as necessary for the CFII. The book has helped me TREMENDOUSLY with my instrument practical and written tests, and my CFII examiner referenced it to me many times. Worth the money. An essential buy for all you achieving towards your instrument and/or CFII ratings.

Good reference

  • By Tim from Murfreesboro TN USA on Wednesday, May 05, 2010
  • Pros: Price lower at mypilotstore.com
  • Cons: Loose pages for Change 1 to the publication
  • Review: Solid source of information for training and future reference. The small packet of extra pages (for Jan 2009 Change 1 to the publication) is a bit cheesy, but they can be taped inside the cover to prevent falling out. Plus, the price was lower at mypilotstore.com than other suppliers.

Good choice for economical IFR training

  • By Patrick from Maumelle AR USA on Thursday, March 11, 2010
  • Pros: Short, sweet, straight to the point
  • Cons: Some navigation concepts could use better descriptions
  • Review: This book is concise and reads reasonably easily. It provides descriptions of instrumentation for traditional "steam gauge" displays as well as newer glass cockpit displays providing a nice recap on material if both sections are read.
