Trig TT31 Mode S XPDER

  • By Richard from Avondale AZ USA on Thursday, April 13, 2017
  • Pros: Plug and play replacement for the KT76A
  • Cons: Looks like if you need service you have to ship it back to the UK.
  • Review: I bought it as a plug and play replacement for my aging KT76A, and it is exactly as advertised. However, if you buy the install kit it can be much more and satisfy the ADS-B Out requirement when paired with a WAAS GPS. I already had a UAT for ADS-B so I opted for a drop in KT76A replacement, but it is nice to know I have the flexibility to add 1090 MHz ADS-B with a simple wiring chassis and new mounting tray.

Swap-in success!

  • By Jackson from Whiteman CA on Tuesday, February 26, 2019
  • Pros: Save big money on install, Future ADSB 2020 compliance, Shows the altitude its broadcasting to ATC
  • Cons: Second half of the ADSB-out is costly.
  • Review: It dropped into the slot that our "Intermittant mode C" King transponder was in.

Took the A&P longer to write up the logbook entry than the whole install, setup and test procedure.
