Works as Advertised

  • By Chuck from Amarillo TX USA on Wednesday, October 04, 2017
  • Pros: Good audio levels without distortion
  • Review: This portable intercom worked as I expected by allowing me to communicate with up to 3 passengers when flying.

Good product for the price

  • By Dale from Murrysville PA USA on Tuesday, August 11, 2015
  • Pros: Good value
  • Review: I'm a pilot in training, so I don't have a lot of examples to base a comparison on, but for the cost of this product it's worked well for me so far. The only issue I have is the squelch doesn't adjust enough to completely silence the engine sounds when I'm in climb-out, but once I throttle back a bit, it works just fine.

Works great!

  • By JJ from Alexandria VA USA on Wednesday, July 08, 2015
  • Pros:
  • Review: Worked exactly as advertised...easy to use with clear audio. Have used several times with 4 passenger with no problems noted.

This is a great product!

  • By Scott from Moreland GA USA on Thursday, December 04, 2014
  • Pros:
  • Review: I bought this intercom to replace a defective intercom in my Cherokee 140. This unit works great and battery life is excellent! I would recommend this unit to anyone getting started out with their first plane on a budget. Works as good as the panel mounted systems on the larger planes!

So So

  • By Darren from Oakland CA USA on Thursday, July 08, 2010
  • Pros: Cheaper than a panel mount
  • Review: The connectors seem a bit loose or have problems as I have to "play" with the jack to get both ears to work. But once it is working it does a great job.

Q: Will this version allow for music input from an iPad/iPhone?

A: Yes, this does have cell/music input on it.

  • Wednesday, November 08, 2017

Q: Does the inplayed music stop (or be muted?) when pilot/passengers start a conversation to other persons in the cockpit/plane? Or does the music stop (or be muted?) only by incoming or outgoing radiotraffic? I hope latter is the case - cause if not, enjoying music while flying seems quite difficult. Thanks in advance for your answer. :)

A: Any incoming audio from radio or conversation on the intercom will mute the music.

Q: We will be flying an aircraft with only a two place intercom system, there will be three of us aboard. How will this work in conjunction with the aircraft intercom to allow all three of us to communicate?

A: You will need to purchase the Double Headset Y Adapter to allow all three of you to communicate with a 2-place intercom system.  You can see that product here http://www.mypilotstore.com/mypilotstore/sep/1974.

  • Thursday, February 24, 2011

Q: Is the PA-400ST capable of playing stereo sound from the music input or does stereo just mean it works with stereo headphones but only in a monaural mode?

A: Yes, it can play stereo music when connected to stereo headsets.

  • Wednesday, October 27, 2010

Q: Is there some kind of convention among aviation intercom manufacturers not to give the buyer a clue how long the cords/cables are? I would buy immediately if this info were available.

A: The cords from the intercom to the start of the plugs is five feet in length.

  • Thursday, April 29, 2010
