The NEW Bose® A20™ Aviation Headset is the most technologically advanced Bose® headset ever!

Bose was the first to introduce active noise reducing headsets to aviation more than 20 years ago, forever changing the way pilots fly. Now, the Bose® A20™ Aviation Headset introduces an entirely new standard.

The Bose® A20™ Headset has been engineered for significantly increased noise reduction in even louder environments. With an improved degree of comfort you’ll appreciate. All without compromising the clear audio you expect from Bose. Plus, it has auxiliary audio input and priority switching. It’s made in the U.S.A., and meets or exceeds all TSO requirements. No other headset can deliver this advanced combination of benefits.  Even the Battery Box has been designed for greater comfort and control!

Key Benefits and Technology:

  • Significantly greater noise reduction for pilots than currently available.
  •  Improved level of comfort achieved through choice of materials, distribution of weight throughout the headset
  •  1/3 less clamping force than most conventional noise reducing aviation headsets, and additional room for the ears.
  •  Clear audio for enhanced communications.
  •  Auxiliary audio input, also included by Bose for the first time!
  •  Priority switching so pilots can decide which audio source they want to hear.
  •  At least 40 hours of typical headset use from just two AA alkaline batteries.
  •  Made in the U.S.A.
  •  All this, and these headsets still weigh only 12 ounces.
  •  5-Year Warranty

What’s included:

  •  Deluxe Carry Case
  • In-line clothing clip

Well worth the buy.
by GEORGE from SOUTH AFRICA

Pros: ANR, Comfort, Light clamping effect on the head.
Cons: Think framed sun glasses don't work well
Review: 1)Defiantly worth the buy.
2)The ANR is works very well.
3)The headset could do with a development to incorporate wearing sun glasses with a thicker frame. Very comfortable to wear without sun glasses or sun glasses with thin frame.
4)The ANR and sound quality though the headset is brilliant.

Best Headset I've ever owned.
by A Customer from Grand Forks ND USA

Pros: Comfortable for many hours of flying. Very quiet.
Cons: None
Review: I am a full time flight instructor who uses the Bose A20 every day, sometimes up to 8 hours a day. When using my old headset, at the end of the day my head felt like it had been in a vice and my ears would ring after the engine was shut down. Both problems have been solved with the purchase of my Bose A20. Its built very well, its very comfortable, and it does a very good job of reducing that hum of the engine. Buy it, you won't be disappointed.

Nice Headset!
by Bruce the Jump Pilot from Davis, CA USA

Pros: Comfortable... quiet... and not a battery hog...
Cons: Expensive
Review: I am very pleased with my new Bose A20 headset. I fly a turbo-prop PAC-750XL for a busy skydiving company and often spend over 8 hours per day in the cockpit. Our airplane is a powerful, stripped-down, souped-up workhorse, but it is also very noisy inside. I wear a headset all day. With my Bose A20, I no longer experience the discomfort that I have endured with other headsets. Great product!

I could hear myself think!!!
by Bob, R22 student pilot, Australia from Bankstown Airport, NSW, Australia

Pros: Light weight, great noise reduction, great mike
Cons: With no batteries or noise reduction off, not quiet enough
Review: I had noise cancelling headsets before, but this is absolutely a must. I could hear myself think, I could hear the radio calls and begin understand them, too - for a student pilot with 20 hours experience, it is very important. The lack of a bluetooth was a choice - in hindsight it would have been good for down the road with Bluetooth.

"Great Headsets"
by Edgar, Cirrus SR 22 Pilot from Montgomery AL USA

Pros: I like how the earseals don't touch eachother while not in use. They do not deform.
Cons: On panel powered sets, one shouldn't have to turn them on. I should be automatic, that way the pilot doesn't forget to turn them on.
Review: Hands down the best headset I have ever tryed. A great improvement over the X headsets. More confortable and quieter on long flights. Thumbs up !!! BOSE

Great headset
by Mario from Burbank CA USA

Pros: Light, comfortable and very quiet.
Cons: Expensive, but it's worth it
Review: My wife has an earlier model (Bose X). I've used it several times and I thought it was great. Recently I read that Bose had made some improvements on the A20 model. I was a little skeptical but I bought one to try it out. Well, to my surprise it was smaller, lighter and more comfortable. Even the noise cancelling was definitely superior.

Worth every penny!
by Brad from Poway CA USA

Pros: See product review
Cons: None
Review: I am the proud owner of a David Clark H10-13S headset and, I must say, I love that headset. But now owning a pair of A20s has forced me to open my heart to fit two. One a little more than the other...ok A LOT more. My A20s are simply awesome. I mean the word "awesome" both as "cool" and "sense of awe". The first time I put the A20s on and powered them up it was like I was sitting at home and quietly enjoying a book. But I was still at the controls! I was simply amazed at the comfort and clarity of this headset. If you are on the fence about buying this headset, I HIGHLY recommend it. If I was asked if I would by it again, I would answer with no hesitation, "hell yes I would".

by Mads from Pacific Grove CA USA

Pros: Noise reduction and ear-cups
Cons: Bulky travel-case
Review: Best headset I'v ever owned!

by Brad from Poway, CA
Review: Bought this headset as a 21st birthday present from me to me. My previous headset, a David Clark H10-13S, is now my loaner and what a difference! The first time i flew with the Bose, I was very impressed by the noise cancellation, by the time I landed (around 2 hours later) I had completely forgotten i was wearing a headset. The Bose was EXTREMELY comfortable. I would recommend them to anybody. Excellent headset.

Absolutely the best, better than Zulu
by R44 Pilot from Ft. Pierce, Fl

Review: I fly an R44 helicopter with the doors off 8 hours a week. I have been using Lightspeed Zulu's headsets. The A 20's are much quieter. I have switched them in flight for a rock solid comparison.

Ah, relief
by Paul from Portland, ME USA

Pros: Excellent noise cancelling ability
Cons: Top head pad could use more padding. Noticeably annoying after several hours of use.
Review: When I first flew with this headset (I wear glasses) I thought it was good and comfortable. Then after about an hour airborne I realized I had forgotten to turn on the noise cancellation. What a trip that was! A night and day difference. I never forget to turn it on after engine start now. It's a lighter headset than what I was using and is well worth the price of admission. I should've purchased this years ago.

Perfect product
by Sonia from Lake Charles LA USA

Pros: I can hear my MP3 during the flight. High performance.
Cons: not one
Review: I loved it, I recommend.

by Phil from Torrance, CA USA
Review: Everyone I spoke with prior to buying the headset said I would like them. And in fact they are terrific. I am flying a 1978 Cessna 182RG of which am intent on it's originality, as this one is a survivor to date. As they say something is only original once. 20-30 years from now I want this airplane to remain as it was sold off the line in 1978 while it continues it's journey from caretaker to tne next beyond me. Where I was going with this thought is that the Bose headset is quite modern, not vintage. So they are a little out of period, but really nice!

Very good product
by A Customer from Kingston GA USA

Pros: lightweight, hearing quality outstanding
Cons: none
Review: I am new to aviation and bought a cheaper headset in the beginning. I have good hearing but a cheaper passive is NOT the way to go. I would advise any beginner to not make that mistake. The active noise reduction is simply amazing, I can hear things now that my instructor only told me about. The Bose A20 is superior in comfort and quality to any headset I have used.

Great product
by Pakorn from Sydney NSW Australia

Review: Amazing active nosie reduction, light and very comfortable. I haven't found any probelm yet. Overall is still good. Just one a little mistake about a wire, I feel it's not too strong but who know. It's just my feeling!!

Problem with the speaker
by Tanguy from SAN FRANCISCO CA USA

Pros: light and good noise cancelling
Cons: Resistance in the long term?
Review: Left speaker failed after 2 weeks use!? Do you think it's normal for such an expensive headset?

A-20 Headset, absolutely awsome
by Daniel J Wright from Spring Hill FL USA

Cons: cost
Review: I have two noisey aircraft and the noise canceling quality is amazing in both aircraft, one is open cockpit. Also I wear glasses and my old headsets used to hurt where the bows hit the side of my head, the a-20 is no problem. I hated to spend that much money but now I am glad I did.

Previous Customer Questions For Bose A20 Aviation Headset (no Bluetooth):
Ask Your Own Question
On Saturday, February 11, 2012 a customer asked:
Q:
Is there any adapter for this model to be used in both fixed wing and helicopters. Can I directly use it with my IPod, Mac or mp3?
A:

Sure, you can use either the Fixed Wing to Helicopter or the Helicopter to Fixed Wing adapter depending on which model you get to convert it back and forth.  Or, you can even get an entire new cable assembly if you don't want to use an adapter.

Yes, you will be able to listen to music with this Bose A20 model, it would just be connected through the headset jack on your cell phone/MP3 player instead of wireless.

On Friday, July 22, 2011 a customer asked:
Q:
What's the difference between the battery powered and the panel powered? And are both dual plugged?
A:

The battery powered headset has the standard dual male plugs that can be used in almost all fixed wing aircraft.  It is powered exclusively by the AA batteries in the battery box. The panel powered version requires you to have a special 6-pin Redel connector (also known as a LEMO) installed in your aircraft.  It does not use the standard dual male plugs that you are probably used to seeing.  This version gets the ANR power directly from the aircraft electrical system and gets the power for the bluetooth from the battery box.  If in doubt, the battery powered version is usually the best choice.

On Tuesday, May 31, 2011 a customer asked:
Q:
What is the actual db reduction?
A:

The Bose A20 Aviation Headset provides significant improvements in both active and passive noise reduction technologies, which provide more attenuation in louder environments and across a wider range of frequencies.  However, Bose does not make claims about the level of noise reduction because a single number cannot tell you much about what you will hear when you use the headset.  We encourage you to give the Bose A20 a try in a variety of aircraft to experience the noise reduction for yourself.  If you're not 100% happy, you can return it for a full refund.

On Thursday, May 12, 2011 a customer asked:
Q:
Does this headset come with its own Bose headset case?
A: Yes, a Bose carrying case is included with the Bose A20.

On Tuesday, August 17, 2010 a customer asked:
Q:
Does this headset have 2 prong to fit two way radio? (one prong thicker and longer than the other.)
A: Yes, the Fixed Wing Portable model does have the standard dual aviation jacks that you describe.
