APR’s Pilot Wind Triangle & T/S/D Navigation Computer features the new and exclusive WIND SPEED CURSOR ARM which quickly shows ground speed, wind correction angle, and heading, thereby eliminating two set-ups and the need to mark a dot on the plastic disc.

In addition to color-coded conversion scales printed on the computer, the E6-B2WHL shows fuel consumption solutions, density altitude factors, conversions for true airspeed & altitude, mach number, kilometers, minutes to seconds, statute to nautical to statute miles, off-course and drift corrections, and slide-rule mathematics.

The E6-B2WHL calculates all necessary flight planning and en route navigation requirements. Color-coded sawtooth scales on the wind cursor are user-friendly and allow for quick, accurate reading.
The Time/Speed/Distance computer provides all major navigation computations.

The Double Wind Speed Cursor Arm makes solving wind problems a breeze. Simply set your true course, rotate cursor arm to wind direction, and read your wind correction angle and groundspeed. Instructions for Windspeed Cursor set-up are printed on the computer slide.The low wind speed slide (40 to 270 knots or miles) features instructions to solve for WCA, groundspeed, and headings. The high speed (100 to 820 knots or miles) shows a headwind and crosswind component grid that depicts the relative wind angle in a graphic for accurate and easy interpretation. Nautical and Statute scales for Sectional and WAC Charts are printed on the sides of the slide.

  • Review: As far as mechanical E6B's go this is great. The wind calculation side eliminates the need for marking the device and the information is simply read afterward. I bought an electronic E6B and have used it very little preferring the "whiz wheel" as simpler and easier to use. Highly recommend.

Great for WCA Calculations

    However, the best part is by far the rotating wind correction angle scale which speeds up the calculation tremendeously - no markings required, so no need to align with wind direction, just select wind direction and slide.

  • Review: I wanted the best mechanical "whiz wheel" I could afford. After much research online I settled on the APR E6-B2WHL.

    I wanted an "old school" E6-B not an electronic one for the simplicity; plus not having to worry about batteries! Since I'm not flying anything much over 250 knots I feel I don't need the high accuracy of an electronic one and experience bears this out - this E6-B hasn't got me lost or out of fuel yet provided I do my part.

    The windspeed cursor arm saves those pencil marks and, more importantly, lets you use one hand for all calculations. In fact I've found that, with a little practice and some dexterity, all calculations can be done on the fly with one hand on the controls and the other doing the computing. Even left handed calculations.

    I'd recommend this to anyone.

More than I expected

    I like that you can, with a lot of practice and a little bit of dexterity, use it with one hand.

    The coloured windspeed cursor arm saves that one step of marking the wind direction then turning the window to find drift correction and ground speed. All those pencil marks on the window are gone and, again, you can use one hand for this.

    I highly recommend this product for those who either don't want or can't afford an electronic E6-B.

  • Cons: The compass rose azimuth wheel seems a little oval - there are two places where the wheel is more than just a little sticky; I'll fix this some day with a screwdriver.

    Q: I'm a student pilot and interested in this model even though I recently bought one from ASA. I'm trying to "buy American" as often as I can. Would you happen to know where this is made? Thanks.

    A: All of the APR products are made in the USA.  APR Industries is located on the southeast boundary of the Los Angeles International Airport. All phases of production, from design to manufacturing to fulfillment, are done on site in their 30,000 sq. ft. plant.
