A Great Example of David Clarks
by Taylor from Durant OK USA

Pros: Gel cup ears, great noise dampening for not being an ANR, adjustable mic boom, pillow-top head piece, David Clark reliability
Cons: Possibly price.. But definitely worth it
Review: This headset met expectations & beyond. I love the fact that I now have a little slice of history... David Clarks. I love the h10-13.4s and you might ask why, it's because after spending many weeks reviewing all sorts of headsets and computing prices vs reliability the H10-13.4's were the best option. The are simple, reliable, and you can look cool too. The "pillow-top" is very comfortable, and the mic boom is wonderfully designed to move and adjust to the wearer's desires. Buy this and you'll be happy for a lonnnnng time.

Everything I expected
by David from Springfield OH USA

Pros: Comfortable and clear
Cons: None
Review: This is my second David Clark aviation headset purchased from MyPilotStore. The headsets are first class quality at a very good price. MyPilotStore.com shipped them out the first business day after my order. Couldn't ask for better service or products.

After two months, so far, it's as good as it gets
by Dan from Malvern PA USA

Pros: all around quality, light weight, good mic
Cons: I probably should get the optional ear pads for a bit more comfort
Review: I am getting a bit older and hearing is a slight problem. I was having trouble with hearing clearances and other communications with my QFR ANR headset. I often opt for new features over simplicity (even at the expense of quality) so buying the H10-13.4 was a bit off my stride. My instructor had a DC for 20 years and he flew jets so given the great price at MyPilotstore I figured I'd try it out. After all, I could always give it to my wife. The result is I'm keeping it and seem to be doing better with clearances. It is comfortable, the mic is great and in this case, less is more.

Excellent choice!
by Kevin from New Haven CT USA

Pros: Clear sound, low background noise.
Cons: None so far.
Review: I bought this headset after another brand simply did not meet my expectations. The David Clark headset worked perfectly from the start, and I have never regretted my choice to buy it. I was told that this particular headset is the one of the lowest quality sets that David Clark produces, but the sound is crystal clear and I have absolutely no complaints. If this is the lowest quality, then the more expensive ones must be fabulous.

Needed a Headset, Got a Headset
by Bryan from Tomball TX USA

Pros: Comfort, Volume Control
Cons: Occasionally won't pick up first words (not often at all)
Review: I occasionally wear relatively fragile glasses (instead of contacts and aviators) and as such, I was concerned about these headphones causing damage. None whatsoever. Very comfortable, pretty light, works just fine.

Quality headset
by Grant from Burlington, NC

Pros: Light weight, comfortable
Cons: Be careful with storage
Review: I got this headset about 2 years ago after I started flight training. I tested other headsets from my flight school but none matched the comfort and weight (or lack of weight) that this had. The only issue I came across was that the connection to the headset became lose but I think that was just me wrapping too tight. Either way I sent it back to DC and I had it back within 1 1/2 weeks. And the repair cost me nothing! I'm going to buy another one for my passengers soon.

Comfortable, high quality sound/mic, great noise reduction
by Riley, Private Pilot ASEL from Kansas City, MO USA

Pros: Great noise reduction, high quality sound, very comfortable
Cons: Mic playback is very quiet making it harder to hear what I'm saying
Review: This headset is very comfortable to wear, making it a great choice for those long x/c flights. When talking, the headset doesn't playback my voice very loudly into the headphones, but once I was used to that the experience has been nothing but pleasant.

A bit early for final judgement, butd-
by wallace from Mandeville LA USA

Pros: Product seems very well made and mypilot store nice to deal with
Cons: Possible mis-match with the H10 and Pilot PTT switch but will try a new PTT SW.
Review: The h/set hasn't been used much as yet but only thing so far is the h/set plug fits poorly in the PILOT PTT jack. No transmission at all on last flight but received other aircraft okay.My radio is ICOM A22 H/held. Note: I have stopped use of magneto IGN and now use standard automotive (dist-coil etc) & runs well but noisy. This is a Sonerai aircraft and is the noisiest aircraft known to man.Might try a throat mic next. The H10-13.4 itself is very nice.

Pros: simple bacic and tough.

Review: Replacement for my DC H1030 that I have used over the past 40 years and recently destroyed well beyond repair. The DC folks treat you like family and they gained my loyalty. Lots of competition out there with bells and whistles-dont need the gurly-man frills; just carve your name in em and press on! WWJWD (what would John Wayne Do) . He would buy Clarks! Ron Tuttle

Great headset
by Bradley from Port Allegany PA USA

Pros: Light and comfortable, easily adjustable boom
Cons: maybe not as loud at full volume as as other headsets
Review: The headset is lighter than my SoftComm C-10. Outside noises seem a little bit more audible(which I like). The headset does not seem to be as loud at full volume as my SoftComm C-10. That being said this is my main headset.

bought two
by Leonard from Carson City NV USA

Pros: given above
Cons: wish they came with a carry case
Review: After my old DC's finally gave up after 15 years and about 2000 hours of use, I bought one for the wife and one for me. First time she rode, she said it was the quietest plane she had ever been. I told her to take off her headset. Then she knew. Love this set. Light, very quiet, much less expensive than noise cancelling.

Better than I thought it would be...
by A Customer from

Pros: Comfortable. Good value.
Cons: None as yet...but it is eary days!
Review: I resisted getting a DC headset for many years...nothing logical, except that everyone else has one!
But, needing a new one, I researched different options - I didn't want an ANC (I like to hear the engine of my plane) and was on a budget - and the DC H10-13.4 just popped out from all the reviews.
What's more...it is really very good! It is comfortable, really easy to adjust, sound quality is quite adequate for aviation use. So...I'm now a DC fan...along with thousands of others!

Solid product that performs Great
by Rich from Savannah GA USA

Pros: Very good price for qulaity and very durable. Very clear sound and very responsive Mic
Cons: Can be warm in higher temperature months. Some people don't like the feel of the ear cups. I have not had any problems with them
Review: These are great for the new or intermediate use pilots. not too expensive but very good quality and outstanding sound clarity. If you do decide to move up in quality and price these are great for passengers or can be esaly sold to pilots looking for durable high quality headsets.

still new after all these years
by A Customer from NYC

Pros: great service, product and easy to find accesories
Cons: none
Review: I got these as a gift from my brother back in 1996 when I was going for my pilot's license. They've been used for 80+ hours while flying and stored for years in between flights. Recently started to fly again and they work just a well as when I first used then. I took some steel wool to the connections to get off the little bit off tarnish on them and I can say they are the best. I faintly remember using some crappy headsets for my first few flights and how painful they were. These have ear cups that are filled with the gel and wearing them for hours is a pleasure.
The sound out of them is wonderful and my hearing is bad, but I always get the comm loud and clear. I won't get anything else, ever.

Cons: Didn't work.

Great no frills headset
by Mike from Centreville AL USA

Pros: Good fit, good sound, good price.
Cons: None.
Review: I have used David Clark headsets for over 30 years. I bought the H10-13.4 because my secondary headset an HD-20 purchased in 1982 went bad and my primary a HD-40 purchased in 1992 was still good. Now the H10-13.4 is my primary and the HD-40 is my backup. The length of service of my headsets speaks for itself.

Induces static
by Dale from Fayetteville NC USA

Pros: Lightweight, comfortable, quality construction, low price
Cons: Static loud enough to interfere with safe communication.
Review: This specific headset induces considerable static ? I've tried it in several different planes, and with every available squelch setting. As I've read dozens of positive reviews for this headset, I'm sure there is a problem with this set and not with the whole product line. I've heard that both MyPilotStore and Dave Clark offer complete and fair service, so I am confident the product will be repaired.

What I expected from DC
by A Customer from KCUB

Pros: good sound quality, great feel on the head, solid, rugged design with a classic look
Cons: The ear cushions slip off from time to time, but are easy to put back on and this never happens while I'm wearing them.
Review: I'm a beginning pilot, still in training, so this was my first headset. I went for a more expensive one than I'd originally expected to buy, but it was well worth it for a product I'll likely use for the rest of my life as a pilot. This headset is extremely comfortable, especially compared to the cheap ones I'd worn before buying my own, and I actually enjoy wearing them because it's like surrounding your head in memory foam. They easily adjust to fit your head, and the cushion on top feels like a down pillow. The sound quality on these is what I expected, and the microphone is very clear. Also, the flexible microphone arm is much better than the metal ones, as it's cleaner and not as bulky. Overall, a great product that I'll be using for years to come.

Great headset. It'll last for forever if taken care of properly
by Brandon from Wichita KS USA

Pros: Light headset, great mic
Cons: Only con is that it may seem a bit bulky to some users
Review: No problems so far (after about a month). It's 5 stars for the service/warranty David Clark offers. Priced well for it's noise cancelling level too.

Very nice! It operates as it should.
by David from Murfreesboro TN USA

Pros: Most All
Cons: See above reference
Review: Love it. Except that the gel ear cushions are easy to come off and kinda difficult to slide and stretch back into place. It can be a small bummer when you are a new pilot in a hurry. Otherwise, it's flawless!

Comfort and Quality at a Great Price!
by A Customer from Kansas City MO USA

Pros: Comfort, quality, and price
Cons: None
Review: Great headset-- I am a student pilot and virtually EVERYONE I have enocuntered has said immediately that David Clark is the way to go. I have not done any x-country flying yet (about two hours is my longest flying time so far), but so far they are very comfortable to wear-- the gel ear pads are great and the tension over my head is just right. I also really like the universal flex microphone boom. Great headset, great price: I would definitely recommend this product.

I would buy this product again!!
by Steven from Colorado Springs CO USA

Pros: Comfortable, Fits well, and durable.
Cons: With the ear cousin covers on it lets in just a little more noise than without them on. However, the added comfort from the covers out ways the noise difference!!
Review: I am a student pilot and the DC H10-13.4 is perfect headset to start out with. Transmits and receives perfectly every time while keeping the noise to a minimum.

Best Service in the Industry
by Jeff from Somerville, NJ

Pros: lightweight, great sound, excellent price
Cons: None
Review: I have been using my David Clark H10's for over 30 years. I sent them in to the factory recently and they came back looking like new, and the upgrade costs were minimal. I have other headsets, including a Lightspeed ANR, but I always end up back to using my DC. Great passive noise reduction, comfortable, great sound (which is most important), and great mic. The current price has changed very little from when I bought mine, which truly makes them a bargin.

Good Headset
by John C from Peerless MT USA

Pros: light & comfortable, good sound quality,
Cons: none really
Review: When I got it the microphone had been mounted on the headset backwards so I sent it back to David Clark and they fixed it. Works great now. Only reason I didn't rate it "5" was seems to me the issue should'a been caught on final inspection before it left the factory.

Good product
by A Customer from Reykjavik, Iceland

Pros: Light weight, comfortable
Cons: Not noise cancelling,
Review: This headset met my expectations, I wanted a light weight headset that would be comfortable to have on and I got that. It's not noise cancelling but it takes away most of the sounds you don't need to hear. the gel pads fit very well, although I think when I put on sunglasses while flying the gel doesn't keep out those extra sounds as well.

by "TD" from columbia MD USA

Pros: Effective volume control with perfect clarity.
Cons: n/a
Review: Never used this type product on the big Boeings, but I sure do need it with my 1943 T-Craft in the "Death Zone" of the FRZ around DCA. Can't afford to miss a call from "Potomac" unless one enjoys an escort from those pesky black helicopters. Great headset.

Worth the money!
by Matt from Owasso OK USA

Pros: Good price for more than adequate set.
Cons: Could have used an extra foot on the lenfth of the cord, but not a critical drawback.
Review: This product does a good job of shutting out the noise. It is a bit heavier than the noise cancelling headsets, but for me those were not worth the extra $500-$700, for $10 worth of comfort. I've flown for several hours without taking removing them and found no discomfort.

by James from North Andover MA USA

Pros: fair price, good performance, well built
Review: Comfortable, light weight, decent passive noise reduction, clear sound, and solid construction. The mike is easy to position correctly and provides good performance.

DC also has a great reputation for customer support.

In terms of clarity, my Lightspeed set beats DC, but at several times the cost. I think the H10-13.4 is an excellent choice.

I'm happy with David Clark
by Clark from Houston TX USA

Pros: voice tone and clarity, light weight
Cons: don't know of any cons
Review: I bought the H10-13.4 Headset and have used it twice. The voice quality is very good, the weight is good (not heavy) and the mouthpiece fits perfectly. I decided to pay more than the cheaper model, which we use as loaner-headsets at my flight school. The cheaper one falls apart and is considered by the flight instructors, as well as me, as junk. Paying the extra for a David Clark quality headset was money well spent.

The Best Headset for Beginning Pilots
by FlyCRJ.com from Colorado Springs, CO

Pros: Incredibly durable, great price
Cons: A little tight on the head till you get use to it
Review: The David Clark Headset is by far the best headset for beginning and experienced pilots. Rarely do you buy something that will pay for itself time and time again. I bought this headset back in 2000 and it is still working. The only thing that I have every had to replace is the mic cover. If you want a headset that will last, this is it.

Pros: Mic is clear, comfortable for a while
Cons: no ANR, heavy
Review: Great headset for first time buyer student pilot. Mic is clear and hearing is good for a passive noise cancelling system. Only down side is the headset is a little heavy and doesn't have ANR. Gonna use till I get my private pilot license then probably upgrade to a bose or zulu headset.

Review: First headset purchased. Since it is my first headset I have no means for comparison. I like the flexible mic boom that stays in position and doesn't move around. Mic is great at cancelling out background noise and transmissions are crystal clear for both Tx and Rx. Only Change I would make so far is to possibly buy the extra cushion for the top of the headset to make it a little more comfortable. Great starter headset.

Pros: Good quality for a reasonable price. Durable.
Cons: Tight fitting. However, as prevously stated, they are relatively quiet.
Review: The headset works great in GA environment. Reasonably priced and long life expectancy. Recommended. Only complaint is that they are tight fitting. However, the phones keep out noise. TX and com are clear. Not the best for open cockpit, 2 stroke experimental or ultralight. Phones work OK in noisy environ, mic picks up noise in higher freqs and opens intercom.

Very Good
by Anthony from Harrisburg, PA

Pros: Great sound quality. Comfortable, Cheap (for quality).
Cons: NONE
Review: Have had the 10-13.4 for over 3 years now and are very very good. In that 3 years i fly 3 to 5 times a week sometimes much more, and they work great every time. The Cloth Ear Cushion Cover is a great addition to an already good product. If you buy the headset buy the ear covers as well. I will have my DC for a long time, but if i do get a new headset it will be DC.

keep it simple stupid "KISS"
by jack ward from kentwood MI USA

Review: Still the gold standard for durability. I have 2 Bose X, but I just like the 13.4 for the every day driver.  I am not one to put everything back in a baggie everytime I am not using things.  I can take the 13.4 and just pitch it in the back seat of the plane or my car and grab it and go.  My headset, my camera and my guns are all in the ready mode when called upon, no zippers snaps or velcro closures thank you.  My 13.4 gets the job done without being sensative to manhandling.... jack ward

I would buy this product again
by Lt Col Gerald R J Heuer USAF (Ret) from Detroit MI USA

Pros: Great sound attenuation
Cons: Was not stereo
Review: Excellent quality--attenuates the noise just perfectly.. a lot of improvement over the headsets I used as a navigator during the flying portions of my 28 year careers in the USAF, but then again, I retired from the USAF some 17 years ago--technology moves on and improves, and some times technology does away with your profession (GPS = today's navigator). Some how missed seeing stero version--my only regret. You could include end covers for the two jacks and carrying case at a package price.

Pros: Comfortable on head and ears. Appears solidly made. No complex features -- it just works!

Exactly as I expected. Would definitely refer product to other pilots,
by Dan from Arlington VA USA

Pros: Very comfortable despite its weight, provides more than adequate ear/noise protection, obviously a quality product.
Cons: A little heavier than some other passive headsets
Review: I have only used a few times since purchase, but I am quite satisfied with the headset. While a little heavier than other headsets, which is 'normal' for DC, it is just what I was looking for and expecting.

Pros: The silence experience
Cons: You have to put the volume on the radio higher then before...
Review: I have been using a H10-30 model for the last 20 years,I never tought that the newer model would be so different.. When they say that they have a noise reduction device it's really true....You would think that they are not working..They are also very confortable( soft ear muffs )

Very good headset
by Kent Magnuson from Kearney,NE

Pros: very comfy
Cons: none
Review: This is a good standard headset. I can be slightly improved by building in your own noise cancel kit, to save $40. Pull the ear cups apart, foam lining, etc., unscrew the speakers, insert light weight foam under the speaker and stuff with poly packing material, reinsert the speaker and let it free-float. Do not screw it back in. Cover over with a piece of fabric, put on the ear muffs, and...you have helped the silencing just a little bit more. And it did not cost you anything. Not a huge improvement, but it does help just a little.

It's lightweight, but carries a heavy punch
by Larry from Odenton MD USA

Pros: Lightweight, comfortable, quiet
Cons: Cons are for those other headsets
Review: The David Clark H10-13.4 Headset far exceeded my expectations. It's lightweight, it's comfortable and, best of all, it makes for a quiet ride. The noise cancelling feature blew any other headsets I've ever owned completely out of the competition.

A Time Tested Classic
by THOMAS CORRIGAN from SARATOGA SPRINGS NY USA

Pros: Comfortable, Superior Quality, Great Value, Excellent Noise Cancelling, Crisp Sound.
Cons: None
Review: David Clark Aviation Headsets were among the first on the scene. Then came the Korean invasion headsets, did they cost less? Yes. Were they an equal in quality & workmanship? No. David Clark headsets maintain the highest level of quality & workmanship to date. They represent great value in the headset market. They are tough as nails, comfortable, lightweight, reasonably priced and are still made in the U.S. The first David Clark headset I bought was in 1980 & it is still like new. I was just looking for something new to wear. Also while a lot of people want noise cancelling headsets they do pose some problems that these H10-13.4's don't. That is no batteries, additionally they offer a superior passive noise cancelling protection that the competition can't match unless the batteries are working. If the batteries fail it gets pretty loud.

Great Product!
by Andrew from Omaha, NE

Pros: Look good, light weight, durable
Cons: Nothing
Review: I was reluctant to buy this product because it was relatively low in price, and I was not so sure about the "low weight" it advertised. But I wanted to save money, so bought these instead of a high priced one. I will tell you, these are very light and very comfortable. They are well worth the money spent. I have used rental David Clarks , and they were not very comfortable (probally because of their heavy use), but these are amazing! Once I put them on my head I almost forget I am wearing them. I would recomend these to anyone wanting to buy a headset with a limited budget, or just anyone who wants a great headset.

Outstanding headset for a great price!
by Jeff from Concord, NC, USA

Pros: Fair price, high quality construction and microphone
Cons: No electronic noise reduction, but I was not in the market for that either.
Review: As a new pilot, I needed an economical headset that would last for years. The H10-13.4 fits the bill perfectly! The noise reduction is fabulous and sound quality of the microphone and earphones are top notch. All of this at a price that is very competitive and highly recommended for any new student pilot. The microphone boom, flexible yet sturdy, stays right where I need it and has no bolts, screws or other hardware that will loosen over time.

Pros: Comfortable, keeps out engine noise.
Cons: They can't help you obtain your license any faster.

amazing headset. would definetly recommend it!
by Ryan from southeastern NH, USA

Pros: great mic, great sound quality, VERY LIGHT AND COMFORTABLE
Cons: It would be nice turn the volume up one more notch, but only in an open aircraft; enclose I'm sure it's perfectly fine.
Review: This is my first headset, and glad it is! All of the pilots at my airport were surprised at my quality purchase. A few of them were even asking about it, to buy it for themselves. Even my instructor with about 25,000 hours was impressed by the headset. The mic works great, it captures very precisely. I can lean slightly out of the open door of my Cub and it will still not pick up the wind. The headset itself is extremely light. I barely know it's on my head at all. Assisting that "not there" feeling is the sound quality. I fly in a Piper Cub with the door open, and it almost sounds like I'm on the ground talking face to face with my instructor. One thing I wish you could do though is turn the volume up just a little bit more. I'm sure it is fine for an enclose aircraft, but for me in the Cub, that prop can kind of wash out sound a little, even with the tight fitting, noise canceling gel ear pads. Overall, the quality of this headset is absolutely amazing. I would recommend it to all pilots, whether student, commercial, or anything. I think anybody will love the H10-13.4.

Great Headset for ANYONE!
by Eric S. from Northeast Kansas

Cons: It only has one volume adjustment nob, but that doesn't affect it much.
Review: This headset met all my expectations! It is light-weight, durable and comfortable. It also does a great job of getting rid of most excess noise. This headset also comes with a pair of extremely comfortable gel ear-pads which are GREAT, and a microphone cover which does a great job of protecting the microphone and picking up only what is said by the pilot and no extra noise! The adjustable microphone cord is also exceptionally well made and sturdy, once it's put in place it doesn't move. Overall, this is a great headset and a great buy!

Great headset
by Stacey from Manhattan KS USA

Pros: Lightweight
Cons: A little too big for my small head
Review: These headsets are really awesome. They are lightweight and of course, easy to use. The only problem I have had with them is that they are a little too big. I have a very small head and they are a little too big to stay on nice and snug. Otherwise, I could not ask for more out of the headset. The mic is awesome and stays in place nicely.

Great Stuff
by Esteban from Miami, FL

Review: The Headsets in general are great in all aspects!!! The only thing I dislike about it, is when you leave the headsets on the dashboard of the airplane for a little bit, while you finish doing x stuff, they get hot pretty quick. When you try to put them on you have to take them off and let it cool for a sec!!!

Pros: Dave Clark support
Cons: See above: single headset volume
Review: I've always liked Dave Clark products, and have had good service from my previous DC headset. I thought I was getting exactly the same headset, but this one was slightly different. The only thing I do not like about this one is that it has only a single volume control, not individual controls for each ear piece. It's still good quality, and is a very good passive attenuation headset.

Pros: Comfortable
Review: Headset definitely met my expectations for comfort. Compared to my old clunker, this one is a joy and eliminates the pinching pressure wounds of a poorly fitting set. Note: using an ICOM A22 handheld w/the headset adapter, you may get bad feedback (with or w/o the PTT switch). Mic signal seems to feed back to the antenna. Hold adapter near antenna, and feedback disappears. Not a 'handheld + headset mic's are both on' thing. Seems to be a signal/antenna issue. Try a different adapter, or different handheld.

The stereo headsets are the exact same as the mono version in most cases. For communication within the cockpit or to ATC (Air Traffic Control) there is no difference at all.
