Garmin G1000 PC Trainer for Cirrus Perspective

The G1000 Trainer simulates the behavior of the G1000 system interface and provides you with a safer environment to learn the basic operation of the system.

Features:

  • Improved interface with Intel integrated graphics controllers
  • Dual computer monitor support
  • Dual GDU display — able to display PFD and MFD simultaneously
  • Remote Controllers — additional controls such as GMC and GCU will interface with GDUs
  • Ability to resize the GDU display(s) and remote controllers
  • Garmin GFC 700 AFCS interface — flight modes controlled by Gamin autopilot
  • Garmin FliteCharts — allows users to view published approach charts
  • Garmin SafeTaxi — allows users to view detailed airport information on the moving map
  • Airway interface — allows users to view and insert airways into the flight plan
  • Improved interface with simulator flight controls — allows users to use flight controllers such as yoke and rudder peddles

NOTE: Due to the graphic memory intensive nature of the G1000 simulator, it must be the only application running on your PC. In some cases, even though your computer meets the minimum PC requirements, the simulator may not function properly. This is due to the unique configuration of each computer and the extra processes and procedures that are utilized by that computer.

Useless
by A Customer from Sun Valley CA USA

Pros: None
Cons: Nothing here you can't get from the written quick guide and 5 minutes with the equipment in the plane
Review: It doesn't run well, and provides nothing, no assistance, I can't figure out how to put in my local information.
I'd send it back and ask for my money back but I had to download it to find out it's useless.

How does one progress through the checklists, for instance?
Flew the plane yesterday, still using paper checklists.

Very good for procedure training.
by Sam from Matthews NC USA

Pros: Great for learning the screen and procedure training
Cons: Some software glitches such as not being able to select VNV mode on the Autopliot.
Review: This is a good product for doing procedure training and getting a handle on the very complex Perspective system. I was also over joyed that mypilotstore sent me the latest version 11.10. My instructor has version 10. One thing to note in order to get the capability of the product you have to have a dual monitor system. This will allow you to run both the PFD and MFD as well as the GCU and GFC700 command module. No point in getting it if you don't have two monitors. You won't be happy. I also can't seem to use the VNV portion on the GFC700 so I would say it has a few bugs but still well worth the price.

Underwhelming
by Jeff from Greenwich CT USA

Pros: none
Cons: inputs were neither guided nor intuitive; you never knew what was to be done next or what the result was of your initial input
Review: I really expected more text or sound dialogue to guide the use of the software. Instead it was an uninspiring non-instructive software of the Garmin 1000 panel. Not intuitive and not helpful in familiarizing one with the operation of the product

Ultimately effective but clumsy to set up and operate
by GDenkler from Arlington VA USA

Pros: Only option out there for desktop Cirrus Perspective simulations
Cons: Steep learning curve to get set up and actually simulating missions.
Review: This is the only PC-based simulator for the Cirrus G1000 Perspective I was able to locate. To properly simulate a Cirrus cockpit you will definitely need to have multiple displays to operate the PFD, MFD, GFC-700 Autopilot and Perspective keypad simultaneously. A simple, inexpensive gaming joystick is also a good match with this software even though it's not quite the same as the Cirrus yoke.

I experienced a steep learning curve in getting the simulations set up in terms of initial geo location, altitude and airspeed. A PFD inset window is used to do this but the documentation was light WRT this important information. I eventually figured it out, but a step-by-step guide would have gotten me going a lot faster. Databases for instrument approaches, STARs, waypoints, etc., are several years old so expect differences from what's out there in current terminal procedures publications.

In summary I found the simulation software useful in enhancing my proficiency with the Cirrus Perspective system. It was helpful in preparing me for my instrument rating flight test as I was able to fly trickier approaches over and over again until mastered. I will continue to use it to expand my knowledge of the Perspective capabilities and dry run approaches for future missions.

Does not have the Perspective keypad
by Ken W from Fremont CA USA

Review: The Perspective software was just like the G1000 CD,
The Perspective needed to have the GCU keypad.

Very Complicated
by Robert from Little Rock AR USA

Review: I could not use it. It is really for someone that is for an instructor, not a novice user.

not made for a Cirrus
by A Customer from Miami FL USA

Review: Great simulator for the G1000 but the title of "for Cirrus perspective" is miss leading. The benefit of the Cirrus system in the keypad which is not in the simulator. Do not waste your money.
