The world in our hands, though not quite at our fingers by Mike from Rancho Palos Verdes CA USA
Pros: Huge collection of valuable data in a compact electronic format Cons: Search function difficult to use Review: I am very pleased to see this collection of aviation data (AIM, FARs, weather resources, etc.) in an electronic format. It takes up so little room on my laptop hard drive that I can carry it with me wherever I go. Now when questions come up, I have the answers in my hand. However, part of the power of electronic data is lost in this implementation because its search function is difficult to use. Let's say, for example, I want to know the currency requirements for towing a glider. I have no idea what paragraph in the FARs deals with this issue, so I use Mobipocket reader's search function and look up the word "towing". Unfortunately, the search function reformats each page with the located term as the first word on the top left of the viewed text. That means you see the word your looking for and subsequent text but not the first part of the sentence it's in, or the heading it comes under. Furthermore, the page-up and page-down functions seem to be locked out after a search. Fortunately, the next and pervious arrows still work. But unfortunately, the pages are further reformatted when these arrows are used. So the first part of the sentence you are looking for is not at the bottom right of the previous page. The term you search for should be placed in the center of the page and highlighted. Better yet would be to place the prior heading on the top left and highlight the search term wherever it is located after that.
