The Virtual Test Prep DVD Series provides a comprehensive aviation ground school to prepare pilots for the FAA Knowledge Exam and help them become better, safer pilots.

ASA’s newest DVD ground school, Helicopter Fundamentals, guides viewers through the important concepts and vagaries of helicopter flight. This award-winning production makes explanations come to life with in-flight demonstrations and the latest 3D animated graphics. Aerodynamics are covered in detail from retreating blade stall to autorotation. Cockpit point-of-view footage helps viewers experience maneuvers from the pilot’s perspective.

Helicopter Fundamentals supplements the airplane Virtual Test Prep ground school courses. Complete both the airplane and helicopter courses to prepare for private pilot, instrument rating, commercial pilot, or flight instructor (CFI) FAA Knowledge Exams. Used together, the courses provide everything needed to ace the Helicopter FAA Knowledge Exam.

Also includes a bonus account for the online practice tests which allows the user to take five practice tests. Practice test results can then be used to receive an endorsement from ASA to take the Helicopter FAA Knowledge Exam.

Pros: examples with the S300c helps alot.
Cons: none
Review: The video has answered many questions and taught me much. I would recommend it to my student pilot friends. Self study AND this video helps more than just the video. In addition to the video use the helicopter flash cards. The combo helps alot.

Very informative, easy to understand

Cons: Could use more detail pertaining to certain helicopter operations
Review: The graphics and actual flying demonstrations made the different principals and characteristics of helicopter flying easy to understand and comprehend. Would have liked to have seen more startup procedures, and more description and explanation of autorotations, rotor speed control etc.

Cons: Not ready for prime time
Review: A little disappointed. Graphics are nice but outdated. Very few examples actually apply to the helicopter we're using. I understand that its hard to incorporate every helicopter out there, but there are certain ones you always find in a training program and they've missed the boat.
