eneloop batteries come pre-charged holding their charge for up to a year.
Each battery can be re-charged up to 1000 times. Once charged, it can be used
repeatedly, and once used completely, it can be recycled. eneloop is the
rechargeable battery that can be used like a dry cell battery. Buy-them,
use-them, Charge-them, and then have them ready when you need power to go!
The included Compact Charger plugs directly into a socket, and will charge 1-2
batteries in about 2.5 hours.
With normal rechargeable batteries it made sense to charge them just before
you wanted to use them. Otherwise, there was too much risk that the battery
would not provide full power when needed due to degradation of stored power.
With the Sanyo eneloop, just charge them and store them in your plane or
flight bag!
The main advantages of Ni-MH rechargeable batteries exist also in the eneloop:
- Approximately 4 time more capacity than with alkaline batteries
- High performance even at low temperatures (down to –5 °C)
- Rechargeable and therefore cheaper on the long run

No More Dead Batteries

Pros: Come completely charged.
Cons: None
Review: These batteries are awesome. They were fully charged when I bought them with my Garmin 96C. They retain their charge as well as any alkaline battery, unlike the usual decay of a nicad battery.

Q: 1. Does the Sanyo eneloop rechargeable 2,000 mAh battery have a "memory," that requires it to be completely discharged before it can be fully recharged?
2. Does the Sanyo eneloop Battery Charger have any kind of indicator that shows when the battery is fully charged? If not, how do you know how long to charge the battery to achieve a fully recharged status?
3. If the battery does not have a "memory," can it be recharged about once a week, after about 10 hours of use, to achieve a full charge?
A:
The Sanyo eneloop batteries do not suffer from a memory effect, so you can charge them when partially used or fully drained. The charger itself will indicate a red LED when the batteries are not fully charged and the light will turn off when the charge is complete. You can recharge these batteries up to 1,000 times before they will need to be replaced.
