On Thursday, November 03, 2011 a customer asked:
Q: I am currently flying Airbus 330. It seems that I don't need battaries for ANR. However, if I fly Boeing one day, can I use the adapter to switch to GA plug? In this case, how can ANR work? As there is no power supply from 2 plug aircraft, ex Boeing?
A:
Yes, this will work without batteries in the Airbus A330 and it will be powered through the aircraft electrical system. If you switch to the Boeing, you could use the Airbus to Fixed Wing Adapter but as you point out this will no longer be powered and you will lose the Active Noise Reduction features. The better option, if and when you switch from the Airbus to something else, would be to get a new cable assembly. We offer the BV-K cable assembly that includes the battery box and the dual plugs. The FAA TSO certification is done individually on both the headset and the cable assembly so it's easy to mix and match the right cable assembly for your needs. The other way of doing this would be to start with the HMEC-46-BV-K headset that has the dual plugs and a battery box. And, then you can use the Fixed Wing to Airbus Adapter when you are in the Airbus and remove the adapter if you fly something different. The downside to this is that you would need an adapter for all of your flying now. And, you would also need to power the headset with batteries instead of getting power from the bird.
On Wednesday, February 24, 2010 a customer asked:
Q: Does the HMEC-46-CP you sell use a battery pack for the noise guard power? Is it stereo or Mono? Confirm it has an Airbus Plug 5 Pin?
Tks, Kevin..
A:
This headset does not use a battery pack for the ANR. It has the 5-pin XLR connection which powers the ANR via 28-volt wired panel systems. It is a mono headset.
On Thursday, October 23, 2008 a customer asked:
Q: Whats the warranty on this product?
Is it supplied with cable clip, wind and pop screen, carrying case?
A:
This headset has a 5 year warranty and does come with a clip, a mic muff, and a carrying case.
On Sunday, January 27, 2008 a customer asked:
Q: Do you deliver to Europe? Cost?
Is this headset suitable for Airbus 320?
Do you have this other variants?
HMEC 46-B-CP P/N 046-35-999-2291 500478
With XLR-5 connector, NoiseGard™ power supply from batteries or aircraft DC power supply system
HMEC 46-BV-CP P/N 046-35-999-2281 500479
With XLR-5 connector and volume control, NoiseGard™ power supply from batteries or aircraft DC power supply system
A:
We only have the HMEC-46-CP available which is the variant with 5-pin XLR for microphone, headphone and power connections (28 volt aircraft only). Sennheiser USA does not supply the HMEC-46-B-CP or the HMEC-46-BV-CP. Yes, we are more than happy to ship to Europe. The shipping cost depends on the country where it is being shipped. If you would like to reply to this email with your country, we would be happy to provide a price quote.
