Clarity Aloft Pro not for EMB 135/140/145s by Darren from Addison TX USA
Pros: in ear is nice, light, good passive attenuation. Cons: too expensive for performance, too much feedback & static from other NAV/COM radios. Review: I purchased the Pro Headsets to use while flying Embraer 135/140/145s, due to the TSO certification and company requirements. I was looking forward to experiencing the freedom of in ear headsets, but was very unsatisfied with their performance, although comfortable after a few weeks of adjusting, the NAV/COM feedback and overall interferance is dissapointing and frustrating. After several complaints from other crew members, I left them at home and an now using my trusted over ear headsets. Clarity Aloft stated they do not have a fix for the Pro model.

Uh...Awesome!!! by Stephan from Fairfield CA USA
Pros: Small and lightweight, clear sound, mp3 plug-in Cons: Price maybe, but worth it. Review: No batteries, super light, I can wear them continuously for 10+ hours with no hotspots on the ears, and I can plug my iPhone into the mp3 port while I'm flying. Volume control is great. Worth every penny! Having the option to listen using left, right or both is fantastic, especially when trying to hear ARINC on a weak HF frequency. Using a y-connector, I can also use them on the military jet I fly. I've been using them for about a month and a half and have no complaints. Even wearing with sunglasses is no problem. You'll be happy you bought them.

Best Headset Ever! by Doron from Mesa, AZ (Falcon Field)
Pros: Lightweight, Comfortable Review: Best Comfortable Headset ever!

by Jack from Santa Rosa CA USA
Pros: light weight, no sweating, easy to pack around Cons: sometime the earpiece needs to be pushed in again Review: I am a student pilot training on a Cessna 172. They work fine in spite of warnings from my friend the jet pilot that said they would only work in his plane. They work fine in both. They are light weight and fit over my glasses fine. I hear some engine noise but not enough to drown out the words. In fact the words come over loud and clear.

Great headset. by Erik from Houston TX USA
Pros: No headclamps, comfortable, about the same attenuation as regular headsets. Cons: Feedback in some COM setups, hard rubber piece can make ear sore until used to. Review: I really like this headset. Finally free of the head clamps like the David Clarks. I have been flying with clamps ever since I started flying in 1994. It has been really nice to rid myself of the head pressure that the clamps are known for.
The setup on the Clarity Aloft is a bit more involved than just throwing on a pair of headests, but after a few flights you figure out where to attach the clips and get comfortable with them.
The noise cancelling isn't quite as good compared to the clamps, but overall, it isn't too noticable. Still well within sound levels of a David Clark.
I fly the EMB-145 and there is a feedback problem with the Clarity Alofts. CA knows about the problem but is puzzled by it. No fix is known as of yet. However, the feedback only comes into play when a pilot has the second COM unit tuned into an active frequency. Such as an ATIS or something like that. In normmal operations, at my company we only monitor a SELCAL freq throughout the flight and so unless someone is actively talking on that freq, the feedback isn't a problem.
One other thing that I don't like is that where the connection at the boom mike and earpiece come together, it is made of hard rubber. This can cause some discomfort right behind the ear. However, this probably just gets taking used to and the discomfort will subside after time. But, if they were to re-engineer the headseat, I would recomend that a softer form of rubber be placed there make the headset more comfortable.
Overall, I really like this headest. It is a bit spendy to get the TSO version, so if your company doesn't require TSO, then get the non TSO version. But if you are looking for a TSO certified headset and want to rid yourself of the headclamps, then it is worth the money. I see the guys flying around with the clamps on now and am very happy that I have the Clarity Aloft headset. Way more comfortable after a long day of flying. Plus, no headset hair!
In a jet this headset works great, but I am not sure if it would cancel out enough noise in a piston or a turbo prop.

Great ...but can be annoying if you sit in the "wrong" seat! :( by David from Las Vegas, NV
Pros: Very nice design - if you sit in the left seat. Cons: Left-seat option only! :( Review: I loved it but I hated it. :) / :(
I'm at SWA and they want TSO versions of our headsets nowadays and I figured this Clarity Aloft - TSO would be a great fit for me. Well...
It's a great headset -> if you're in the left seat!
If you're in the right seat the cable will have to be tucked behind your back or you'll have to put a clamp on the cable and attach it to your shirt or something, and pull it across your seat to the plug-in.
Also, you'll have the mike on the left side even if you're in the right seat. It kind of feels in a way when you're talking to the captain or the guy/gal sitting in the jumpseat behind you.
Is it a no-go? Of course not, but the cable felt in the way.
Also, didn't like the mike on the left seat; right side feels more natural for those of us who're in the right seat. With the age 65 rule right seat will be my domain for a while.
Frankly I was surprised they didn't have a left but also a right-seat option. (apparently they have no plans on getting it either :( ) All they'd have to do is to bend the thin metal wire in the opposite direction, that's all.
Didn't want to modify it by myself in case I'd break something so I returned it instead. For that kind of money I should be "happy" with it, not just "OK".
However, IF they start making a right-seat option version of this headset I'll probably reorder it.
Note, I know several people who use it in the right seat and they seem to be "OK" with it so you can definitely use it that way. The guys in the left seat however seemed to "love" it. I think the relative position of the cable and the mike is the difference between "great" and "not bad".
So I give it a 3-star rating, however I'd give it a 5+ if I sat in the left seat.

Clarity Aloft by A Customer from Orem UT USA
Pros: Light weight, small, great customer service Cons: Expensive, time to put away and store. Buying ear bud replacements Review: I bought this after using a david clark for over 10 years. It is light weight and great for long flights. It does great at cutting out the noise, a little better then the david clarks. It does take a little extra care to put it away and store then just wrapping the cord up. It also took some time to get use to having the ear buds in my ears, but it isn't that bad. I would recommend!

Best aviation purchase I've made. by Saab 340 driver from Sydney Australia
Pros: Light. Cool. No power requirements. Cons: Takes a bit of getting used to. Unwinding. Plugging into ears. Have to unplug when hostie comes in for a chat - or not... Review: RPT SF-340 turboprop. I can't fault the headset. After 18 years using the same David Clarke, it's a relief not to have the weight on my skull. Noticeably less fatiguing. Cooler as summer approaches. Cuts noise out perfectly. I like the MP3 input, *cough* not used in flight, of course . Lighter to lug round in nav bag. Can't break down or run out of battery power. Doesn't make my ears ring or rip my hair out like our installed Bose units. A few of our crews might follow me in getting them. Very pleased.

Bought a 2nd pair for a friend by Layne from Carmel CA USA
Pros: light, very comfortable, excellent noise dampening, excellent clarity Cons: cumbersome to get on, a little difficult to adjust Review: Great for long flights! Very comfortable to wear for extended periods of time. I use them in my Cessna 195, and they provide excellent communication with ATC as well as my passengers. I have worn them for as long as 4 hours straight with no discomfort at all, as there is literally no clamping pressure involved. They are a little cumbersome to get on, and it took me a couple of times to get them adjusted the way I liked, but they are quiet, and lightweight in the extreme. Like them better than my bose aviation x, which I kept for my passengers.

Best headset ever for open cockpit flying! by David from Palo Alto CA USA
Pros: best noise attenuation I've found for open cockpit, great customer service Cons: expensive, given the amount of hardware involved Review: I fly a T-6 Texan - one of the noisiest planes around. Before the Clarity headset, I tried pretty much every ANR set on the market: Bose, Lightspeed, Peltor, Dave Clark. They all work great when the canopy's closed, but when I slide the canopy back in flight, they all fail* - except the Clarity headset, in which I can barely notice any change. I highly recommend this headset to any open cockpit pilot. For the amount of hardware involved, the headset is (almost unreasonably) expensive. But it does the job much better than anything else I've found. And the customer service is stellar. Whenever I had questions, they got right back to me with concise, knowledgeable answers.

"Size does matter!" by A Customer from Carmel CA USA
Pros: light, very comfortable, excellent noise dampening, excellent clarity Cons: requires a little attention to storage when you are not using them Review: I had experienced CEP ear pieces with my helmet's audio system in my aerobatic biplane, so I was hoping that the Clarity Aloft Pro system would comparable. I bought it for use in my Cessna 195. A plane nearly as noisy as my modified high performance Christen Eagle. It exceeded all of my expectations. I love it! I would put it up against the Bose (which I've used) any day! And at about 3/4 of the cost!

I like the product, but it hurts my ears. by Janiece from Vancouver WA USA
Review: The wire over the ears is extremely painful after about one hour. It needs some sort of padding on the bare wire.
