The Jeppesen Handheld Training Series
An advanced, self-paced digital learning program that provides training
on almost all operational aspects of your handheld GPS unit. It utilizes a
two-step process that helps users learn procedures
in a linear, scenario-based fashion. It’s the easy, proven way to get confident
with all that your handheld GPS has to offer.
Key Features Include:
- Scenario-based, guided simulation
- Hands-on interactive learning
- Realistic emulator
- Detailed, narrated demonstration movies
- On-screen learner feedback & assessment
- Over 34 topics taught, including: Startup, Pre-Departure, Departure, En
Route, Arrival, Quick Tips
- Progress tracking
Watch, Listen, Follow, Do.
Video-based training is a start, but the Jeppesen e-Learning systems
increase learning and let you put your knowledge to practical use.
Recommended by Garmin®, Jeppesen programs are the total solution for
both initial and recurrent training, letting you learn at your own pace, while
practicing procedures with the comfort and safety of using a computer.
Jeppesen programs use a three-step method to teach procedures and it really
works. Here’s how:
- The Demo mode plays an animated, narrated “movie” to
illustrate the selected topic, using a scenario. Controls are
provided to pause, play, rewind or jump to any step of the movie.
- The Training mode prompts you through the same scenario
and task, shown in the Demo mode, supported with on-screen
text prompts to guide you through the correct actions.
- The Solo mode reinforces your knowledge by allowing you to
do the task, but without on-screen text prompting. A feedback
system alerts you of any incorrect actions and a help-system
is available.

Review: Overall, this is an adequate but very dry computer-training CD that is overpriced for what you get. I'd be happier if the license allowed me to sell it when I'm done with it, to help recover some of the too-high price, but I can't. The license is for a single PC, and as far as I can tell it registers your PC via the internet. It takes about two hours to work through the lessons a couple of times. This training CD is essentially like reading a user manual, with a presentation of what the various buttons and features do. You hear a voice read a script that is as dry as a manual, and you see only one thing the whole time: a display of a Garmin receiver. The only thing that ever changes is the image presented on the receiver, which changes as the speaker cycles through endless dry things like "select the highlighted menu item and press enter twice to display the blah-blah page, then press the arrow buttons to select the blah-blah tab and press enter twice, or you can also do this directly from the map page by pressing the blah-blah button followed by the blah button." I'd really like to see the receiver used in real-life situations: preparing for an emergency landing when you're low on fuel, or making the receiver stop beeping at me when I'm sitting on the runway after landing somewhere. A few short video scenes recorded in a real plane, with real people, would be wonderful. But what you get is a list of features and which buttons to push to bring them up.

I couldn't get it towork on my PC by Michael from Valencia CA USA
Cons: Computer requirements were not specified in the product description Review: I can't really rate this product because I couldn't get it set up on my computer. I don't have an upgraded video card and not enough RAM so I'm just stuck for now.
