Outstanding Sailboat Race Committee Equipment by Don Trager from Mount Clemens MI USA
Pros: Strong, solid construction and immediate sensitivity with easily read results Review: Having been introduced to the Windtronic 2 by a US Sailing certified National Race Officer, I was familiar with the instrument before I purchased my own. I haven't been disappointed in it's performance! Wind shifts on the water can be frequent, yet subtle and reading the strength of the wind can be critical in making decisions by the Principle Race Officer. That Officer needs accurate information quickly and the fact that the Windtronic 2 can pick-up wind readings in a 360 degree arc is invaluable. Those readings being displayed in large numerals is another plus.

Glad it floats! by Michael from Baltimore MD USA
Pros: floats in water and continues to work Cons: needs lanyard attachment point Review: Out on the Chesapeake Bay and it falls from my pocket and overboard our 27ft sloop. Sis-in-law dives in and makes recovery. Easy to find as yeah it floats. Maybe attach a lanyard soon. p.s. still works

Great for Sailing, but will it last? by RobertAtTheBeach from
Review: Just don't know about the spindly cups. The axis diameter is almost non-existant. I have it mounted atop the pushpit and glance back at it for the readings I need. I hope it lasts forever, just don't know about those spindly cups.

I would buy this one again. by A Customer from Oviedo FL USA
Pros: Simple, compact, cup design Cons: None Review: I reviewed many handheld wind meters before finally settling on this one. The main reason I selected this one is because of the cups. I don't have to manipulate the meter relative to wind direction. I am not a pilot, but use it for boating purposes. All I need is wind speed (max and ave) and this meter meets my needs. I also bought the case to protect the meter.

Accurate and Easy to use! by Roger from Avon NC USA
Pros: Accuracy...ease of use! Cons: Possible longevity issues. Review: This is my 3rd Windtronic 2. My original was replaced on warranty, but the US importer has changed and I could not get the mfg. in Germany to replace the 2nd unit when it also quit reading. But the meter is so good, I simply bought another and will try to take better care of it. The failures were possible due to many 1000's of miles riding around in a 4x4 box truck with lots of shock and vibration.

Excellent product for a long range shooting accessary by John from Lower Mitcham SA Australia
Pros: Big clear, easy to read numbers. Cons: none I have found. Review: Big clear numbers make for easy reading at 1 to 2 metres from the shooting position. Mounts easily on top of a short pole that can be speared into the ground. The camera type mounting thread at the bottom of the meter could be beefed up, but is acceptable as it is.

Good product by Aaron from Pasadena CA USA
Pros: Simple interface, accurate wind measurement, 4 display units and current, max, avg measurement Cons: No case comes standard, could be smaller. Review: Good product for measuring wind, gives accurate wind speed without the hassle of finding the perfect direction. Nice simple UI with big buttons for easy use with gloves. Loses 1/2 point for being a bit bulky, (it's small but could be smaller), and 1/2 point for no case with it.

works well, I wonder if it's accurate?? by Derell Licht from Fremont CA USA
Pros: handy, easy to use, cup method doesn't require aiming, inexpensive Cons: I'm not certain how accurate it is Review: I've previously used a Kestrel 2500 wind gauge, and been fairly happy with it. However, since it uses a spinning wheel, it's only accurate if it's pointed directly into the wind, which can sometimes be hard to judge. So, I looked around for a spinning-cup alternative, which doesn't worry about pointing. I selected the Windtronic 2 over several others, mainly because I carry the gauges around in a backpack, so I like the sheltered cups which are protected from banging against all the other stuff that I carry. In that respect, it works perfectly - but I worry that the tight screen might interfere with airflow and corrupt the readings. I also like the handy size of the unit, which is very convenient and easy to use. My only concern is that it appears to read significantly higher than the Kestrel in side-by-side tests... is that because the Kestrel is hard to aim?? Or is the Windtronic over-reporting wind speeds?? I don't know how to answer those questions. I need to find some way to calibrate the meters... However, it is a handy and durable unit, at a very reasonable price. I recommend it.
