Serengeti Medium Aviator Sunglasses

AVIATOR
Serengeti Aviators are just as much as home on the road as they are in the air.  Choose a gradient lens, preferred by pilots because they block harsh glare from the sun above, while providing a clear view of instruments below.  Or, select non-gradient lenses for uniform, top-to-bottom protection against sun and glare.  No matter what you're piloting, Aviators with Serengeti's advanced photochromic lenses minimize fatigue and eye strain from the sun.

Features of Serengeti Medium Aviator Sunglasses:

  • Metal frame.
  • Spring hinges.
  • Lightweight and comfortable.
  • Photochromic lenses adapt to changing light conditions and take the stress off your eyes.
  • Spectral Control for crisper color and clearer images.
  • Provides exceptional clarity and confidence in all conditions.
  • 24% transmittance lightened lens / 9% transmittance darkened lens.
  • Serengeti's One-year Limited Warranty.

Included with Serengeti Medium Aviator Sunglasses

  • Hard Protective Case
  • Lens Cleaning Cloth
  • Serengeti's One-year Limited Warranty

Temple Length: 140mm / Spring Hinges
Lens Size: 59.3 x 51.57 x 67.02 mm

Technology beyond the naked eye
Serengeti lenses achieve such a high level of acuity because we only use the finest materials available.  And the process by which Serengeti develops their lenses gives them exceptional color and contrast enhancement.

Serengeti's High Definition Lens
Serengeti's proprietary Spectral Control (TM) lens system provides contrast and color enhancement by selectively filtering certain colors from the visible light spectrum.  This allows the most optimal colors through, creating an effect where colors are crisper and images are clearer, making it the ultimate high definition view.

Bright or Shade

Serengeti's exclusive photochromic lenses automatically darken in bright sunlight to give superior definition, while they lighten in overcast or shade conditions for extra contrast.  And since the technology is infused directly into the lens, it will never wear off or out.

Block the Blues
Blue light waves cause a phenomenon called "blue blur", which occurs when they scatter off dust and moisture particles in the air and, essentially veil glare.  Serengeti lenses block 95% of blue light, virtually eliminating the eye strain and fatigue blue blur can cause.

UV Protection Goes Beyond Standards
The government and commercial bodies have set standards for UV protection in sunglasses.  Then there are Serengeti's standards.  They're like yours standards.  They go beyond the basic level of expectation, eliminating virtually 100% of UVA and UVB rays.  The Serengeti lenses also feature an anti-reflective coating on the back side to block additional glare and reflections.

Eliminate the Harsh Glare
Glare is inevitable by-product of light rays bouncing off reflective surfaces.  But Serengeti's polarizing film removes glare as an uncomfortable factor in driving, and the eye fatigue it can cause.

Lens:
DRIVERS GRADIENT.  An exceptional, all-conditions lens, Drivers Gradient is the choice of pilots who need protection for their eyes, but a clear view of their instrument panel.

Loved it!!
by A Customer from

Pros: Lenses and frame are spectacular
Cons: None that I know of....
Review: Well this product was very amazing. The sunglasses I bought were for my mothers birthday. I opened it first and really loved it. I really like the quality. I love the way its made. Serengeti is actually always been a favorite of my mothers. She could never find one. I found this site, although its a pilot store its made for everyone. She uses it as driving glasses. She absolutely loved it and looks very classy. Great gift and recommend to anyone that wants to look and see great. !!!!!

I like them alot
by Andrew from Colorado Springs CO USA

Pros: good fit, fit under headset, durable
Cons: heavy
Review: Heavy, but good fit, and they ear pieces are thin enough they dont hurt under a headset. also, they feel really durable, it would take a lot to bend the frames.

by Praba from Minneapolis MN USA
Pros: clarity and crispness of the image is great
Cons: doesnt block as much light so ends up being still much brigher than my cheap sunglasses.
Review: I need something with much more sun light dimming.  This has a good crisp view but it is very limited on the amount of light it blocks as a result it is not practical especially in the winter months with snow.

Top of the line sunglasses.
by MKW from Chandler AZ USA

Pros: Excellent contrast and distortion-free visiblilty. Comfortable, well-made.
Cons: None.
Review: These aren't wrap-around, so expect some incoming light from the sides. The medium (vs large) aviator does a little better in this area, IMO, due to slightly more curvature. The lenses are glass and therefore not as light as plastics. In my experience though, plastics *always* become scratched. Nothing worse than looking through scratched lenses. I've used Serengeti's for many years. They improve visibility and contrast in any light conditions, but really excel in hazy or overcast skies.

Second Pair
by A Customer from Los Angeles CA USA

Pros: Lens color, gradient and shape.
Cons: Heavy and on the big side.
Review: These are excellent glasses for the price. On my second pair. Really nice lens color with a perfect fade. A little on the heavy side, but you can't go wrong with owning a pair of these.

Review: Relatively large, but useable; gradient is nice, and these glasses are not polarized, so LCD screens look fine regardless of orientation.

Hello old friend
by YankInGeorgia from Newnan GA USA

Pros: Great price, great product, great service.
Cons: Zip, zero, nada.
Review: I had a pair of these Serengeti Medium Aviator Drivers for over 20 years until one of my coworkers sat on them when I carelessly left them on my passenger seat of my car. They proved to be a difficult item to replace as they always seemed to be out of stock at most other internet vendors and brick and morter stores. I had given up and purchased another style of Serengeti shades but they never felt "right" to me. The only person disappointed by my purchase of the new pair is my wife, who thinks they are too "old school" looking.

Serengeti Medium Aviator Sunglasses
by James from Las Vegas NV USA

Pros: Great sunglasses for the price
Cons: are there any?
Review: Great sunglasses, and mypilotstore beats the prices of their competitors too.

An old favorite
by Ken from Hillsborough CA USA

Pros: Great classic aviator style with high quality lenses.
Cons: Heavier feel than other glasses. Frame prone to bending if not handled with reasonable care.
Review: This is my third set of Driver's in about 25 years. I am pretty tough on sunglasses. They end up bent, scratched, broken or lost. Usually my fault. I do a lot of business flying and the Driver's provide just the right glare protection and with excellent optics. The gradient amber lens sharpen objects on hazy days. I like the classic aviator styling, but as far as know they aren't making them in the gold frames anymore so I was fortunate to find a set at mypilotstore.

by Corey from British Columbia
Pros: Amazing Lense. Great Definition of haze, clouds, and traffic is easy to slot.
Cons: Frame style allows light leakage through sides. Note - mine are Small Aviators
Review: I've owned the Small Aviator frame for 4 years now. I love the driver's gradient lense. One thing I've noticed about my Small aviators which has made me decide to try a different serengeti frame style is that because of the low base 6 curve, there is a fair amount of periphrial light that leaks in around the sides of the frame. So these frames are great if you dont have the sun off to your sides. This can cause some glare as the light gets behind the lense. I'm thinking about purchasing the Velocity aviator. It Base 8 curve should solve this problem.

Beats my Raybans
by Alex from Dallas, TX

Pros: Lens's
Cons: side swing arms
Review: I was very suprised by these stylish specs. I had a pair of Rayban aviators for 8+ years, and they finaly broke. My freind pursuaded me to buy the Serengetis, and I am very happy I did. They are strong, the lenses are far superior to the Raybans. The only thing is be careful when extending the arms, side swings tend to break easy.

Review: Is very nice, just what I was looking for, but the size run bigger than normal so that's what I hate a little.
