Sennheiser HME 43-K Headset
- 3 customer reviews.

The HME 43-K is a pilot's headset with closed headphones and Ultra Noise
Cancelling Microphone for use in Airline Jets and Business Jets.
At only 3.35 ounces, the HME 43-K is very lightweight and comfortable to wear
even on long flights. The ear cups and adjustable headband feature soft,
comfortable padding for a snug and secure fit. The customizable boom microphone
allows the user to attach it to either the left or right side and rotates on a
300-degree radius for great efficiency and comfort. In addition, the pilot may
adjust the microphone sensitivity according to noise conditions and individual
preference.
The HME 43-K also features our exclusive ActiveGard(TM) noise-compensation
technology, which protects pilots from unexpected noise bursts that could
potentially damage hearing and interrupt important communications.
Each headset ships with a windshield for the microphone, a cable clip and a
practical pouch for storage and transport. The HME 43-K comes with a two-year

Comfortable to wear, but technically behind by A Customer from Vero Beach FL USA
Pros: very comfortable to wear Cons: microphone picks up tremendous background noise Review: The headset is very comfortable to wear, but because it is so light and with so little clam forces needs constant attention to keep it on your head. The microphone is placed too far away from your mouth (too much to the side) and picks up tremendous background noise. If you do not speak really loud, your voice gets covered by the background noise. The headset can only be recommended for extremely low noise cockpits.

Pros: Crystal clear communications Cons: A little heavy for a lite weight headset Review: Superior audio quality, both transmit and receive. Very comfortable, but could be a few ounces lighter. Would love a volume control and either retractable cord or coiled cord.

Cons: Not usable for airline operations Review: Volume is not load enough to hear. When the volume control is increased on the audio panel past about the 50% point, volume actually drops off. This works the same on several different aircraft which I fly. Same type, different aircraft.

On Tuesday, October 16, 2007 a customer asked:
Q: cant the sennheiser hme 43k be used for airline operations on the 757 and 767 aircraft
A:
Technically, yes, the HME 43-K can be used for airline operation. However, some airlines require the headsets to have TSO C139 approval which the HME-43K does not. If your airline requires TSO approval, I would recommend the Sennheiser HMEC-46 headset that does have both TSO and ETSO approvals (ETSO C57a and C58a approval/TSO-C139).
