Review: It really goads me on some of the reviews I have read on this jacket from people who either have never been in the Air Force or just plain ignorant. The reviews that it isn't authentic enough---hello, it's a USAF issue A2. The pockets are too small---hello, it's a military issue flight jacktet. The lining is rough... hello that is the original military issue spec. If you want larger pockets or a silky lining, buy a knock-off A2 from China.

Review: I had a previous one I bought about 25 yrs. ago so natually I compared the "old" to the "new". A little disapointed in the color but it's o.k. The fit was "just right". The new zipper seams to be less quality but I'll wait to see. The leather doesn't seem as soft but maybe it is just new and will soften over time. However, all in all, I love it. I can highly recommend it.

Review: My jacket arrived promptly and was exactly as described. The fit was perfect. Just what I was expecting. This jacket was a replacement for one I have had for almost 30 years and this one seems to be of even better quality. The only issue I have had is with the lining. While it is superb, it is sometimes difficult to get my arms into the jacket due to the roughness of the material. I wish it could have had a smoother, slicker lining in the sleeves. However, that is a personal preference and I would recommend this jacket to anyone.

Nice looking jacket, but not functional

Review: This is a very nice looking jacket, with quality leather. I have had good comments from a lot of people. However, I found the pockets are too small. I can't put a small pair of leather gloves in the side pockets. The inside pen pockets are too deep. Put a pen in there and you will be using your leatherman to get it out.

The last thing I did not like about this jacket, is it doesn't have a bit of insulation. But then again, since I can't carry a pair of gloves with it, I won't be using it for the winter.

Style is ALMOST right.

Review: I had bought this jacket as a replacement for a former A-2 by a different supplier, that looked identical to the WWII jackets. The zipper 'pull' failed to lock the zipper together properly after many years use. I bought this one as a replacement, then found a seamstress who simply replaced the 'pull', informing me that the failure to lock a zipper closed was usually the 'pull'. She was correct. I'll still keep this newer one in reserve, however. It is well made but not as authentic-looking.

Nice jacket, wish snap pockets on front were bigger

Review: I really like all the pockets in this jacket. My one gripe are the snap pockets, they just aren't as big as the pockets on the jacket I'm replacing by purchasing this new jacket. This might not be an issue for some who isn't use to a larger pocket jacket. Looks good on me and it is warm, it actually might be a little heavy for Texas weather but I'm looking forward to having it on when I am at 6000 feet in my PPC and it is really cold up there. Nice hand warmer pockets that are very useful if you don't have anything in the too small snap pockets. My last jacket lasted 30 years. The construction on this one will likely make it the last jacket I'll be buying this lifetime, 30+ I'm guessing. Hell for stout as we would say in Texas.

Still a solid classic

This is my second A2 in 22 years when I've gone from a 44T to 48Tall (which is slightly oversized for me) but I use it a lot when travelling and have room to layer with sweaters as i fly between climates from 0 F to rainy 70F.

My only concern was that the zipper seemed a bit light/thin for such a heavy duty jacket but it looks like it will survive . Of course the new jacket was a bit stiff but after beating it on the floor a few times and sleeping in it on long flights to Asia/Europe it is becoming a second skin like my first one. I have a bunch of various North Face jackets which are fine but too delicate for many conditions I'm in. This A2 is indestructible however and a keeper.

I ordered my regular size and it fits very well, even over a heavy sweater or fleece vest. It is of a heavier weight leather than I expected, which is a plus. Workmanship seems excellent. Ample pockets provide places for wallet, keys, pens, etc. It is not a warm jacket, but with a vest, it works well on all but the most frigid days. Delivery was prompt. Excellent value.

Great Jacket

Review: This is my second goat skin A2 (lost 40 lbs) and it is an absolutely great looking and feeling jacket. I wear my A2 early fall to late spring. A thinsulate vest is sufficient for all but the coldest Chicago winter days. My first A2 had a much smaller hanging loop inside the collar. This one seems too large and has a tendency to poke the back of the neck, particulary when seated. The hanging loop is a bit of a useless detail, and I think it should be eliminated.

The Real Deal

Review: This A-2 jacket was inspected by a USAF aviator; he says it is an authentic product with all the latest innovations. Being goat skin, it conforms to the milspec and by all appearances is exactly the same as the ones I see flight crews wearing at the local air base. If there is one drawback it is that the sleeves may be just a tad too short for my long arms. It would have been nice to have an option for another inch of sleeve length. I see that some of the flight crew members have the same problem. Otherwise the fit/feel is as expected.

Review: As a WWII Re-enactor, I chose this particular model because of the side entry pockets and the interior pockets (more room to stash personal, non-period correct items). The jacket is very comfortable to wear. I took my chest measurement with a heavy sweater on and ordered a 42. It fits perfectly...over a sweater. While wearing it over a T-shirt, it is big. The description says it's cut with a little extra room and to order one's normal size. My advise is to consider what look and fit you're going for and what you will most often wear it over. Another slight issue is the color. It really is the color pictured; dark chocolate brown. Sort of the same color as an officer's 4 pocket tunic.

Review: The jacket appears well made, fits well, looks great, and it is all I thought it should be. But, it could use a different material for the lining. The lining grabs your shirt materail as you put the jacket on. And the lining on the right side puches out of the jacket when it it not zipped up. The knit materials don't look as good as the rest of the jacket but we will see how durable they are. The inside pockets are great and the utility overall it great. My last jacket of this type lasted 15 years and I think this one is even better made overall.

The best jackets ever...period

Review: As a Navigator, I was issued a few of these jackets over the years (with velcro). The quality and fit of these is far superior to the issued models. The A-2 is great in almost any weather, and in any situation from formal to casual. Recommend getting "exact" chest size rather than 1-upping the size as mentioned in previous review. The jacket is like a second skin so you want it a tad on the snug side, then break it in! r/Tim

Review: Nice jacket but,the leather is thin,it almost look like burns on the leather little spots on front cuffs and bottom got frizzy the first time i wore it too expensive for what you get!

Review: Just as I was issued a few years ago. Only better! This jacket has better quality leather and knit cuffs and back strap. Finally a jacket I can wear anywhere and not have that stupid Velcro on the front.

Review: I've owned several different flight jackets during my USAF pilot years and post active duty. This is my second Avirex A-2 acquired due to my "expanded" needs. Leather and construction quality are first rate and the interior pockets and side entry feature really improve the jackets overall utility.

Mike, the guy in the video, is 6' 1" tall.
