Since 1938 the G-1 flight jacket has been regulation issue gear to pilots of the United States Navy. The G-1 is also worn by members of the USMC and US Coast Guard. This leather flight jacket has been worn by Navy and Marine Corps flight crews during the most heroic air battles in history. 

This jacket, made of 100% Military Spec goatskin, features:

• US Navy pattern
• A variety of naval patches, including a special 9" x 11.5" pieced leather blood chit on the jacket's back (the red stripes, blue field, and anchor are individual pieces of leather sewn onto the leather chit).
• Bi-swing back
• A genuine silky lambs wool shearling mouton fur collar like the WWII era jackets (instead of the current government spec synthetic acrylic collar)
• Knit cuffs and waistband
• Top entry front flap pockets
• Full zip front wind flap
• Under arm grommets
• An inside chest pocket with nylon lining
• Proudly made in the U.S.A. since 1975.

The jacket's shell is made from soft and supple antique lambskin leather, which feels like an old friend from day one. The antique lambskin will further distress the more you wear it, giving you that desirable "battle worn" look and adding even more character to the jacket.

We also offer a modern version of the original G-1 Jacket as well as this same G-1 Jacket without the patches.

Sizes:
We recommend that you order one size larger than your normal size for a roomier fit as this is a Mil. Spec. size garment. For those who prefer the true to size fit, order your actual size.  The sizes are standard men's coat sizes.  Generally speaking, Small is 38-40, Medium is 40-42, Large is 42-44, and XL is 46-48, and XXL is 50-52.

For an accurate measurement, you'll need a flexible tape measure (inches) and someone to help you place and read the measuring tape.  Measure the biggest circumference around the chest and keep the measuring tape horizontal, wrap around the biggest girth of the chest, keeping the measuring tape up and close to the arm pits.

Thursday, July 24, 2008 Great Gift by Nancy from Chicago IL USA  Pros: Great detail on patches, nice artwork on the inside and the detachable fur collar is also a plus Cons: The zipper is a bit "stiff" but it's also impressive to see a real metal zipper these days! Review: I bought this jacket as an anniversary gift for my husband (3rd is leather) and he really likes it. We are particularly impressed with the quality of the patches and the overall weight of the jacket. If you're looking for that ultra cool bomber jacket then this is the one I'd recomend!
