My husband loves this jacket!

Almost the Real Thing - Maybe Better

Review: My wonderful, beautiful wife got me one of the ultimate Christmas gifts - a leather flight jacket! This is my second jacket from mypilotstore. I returned the first one, the A2, because it was too "Army-AirForce", and I am retired Navy! Unfortunately, the lining of the two is reversed - the A2 has a Navy lining (Wings of Gold), and this, the G1, has the USAAF European escape map lining. Overall, jacket quality is great, much nicer than my original nylon green flight jacket, which I still have with all its patches and faded glory of days long ago. I wear a suit jacket size 42L, am 6-4", with a shirt size 15.5 x 36, and the large G1 jacket fits just fine. Please note these other little differences with the real Navy issue: No perforated "US Navy" zipper wind flap; the zipper leather pull has a "C" molded into it; lining is wrong (see above); side entry front pockets (but this is a nice feature - even tho that's a no-no for military types - get the green Nomex gloves instead! I do love the jacket overall, and would recommend it.

I loved everything about it but don't like the fact that the zipper gets caught on the opper side of the lapel and is running the leather in that aeria.
Also in my openion the leather should be a little tougher.It scratches ad chafes too easaly.

Outstanding jacket. Kick the tires and light the fires.

Cons: Zipper is stiff but solid. A little paraffin wax on it, be good to go.
Review: I have been in NAV/AIR for over 30 years as a sheet-metal mech. USN (RET.) 22 years of that time. I have worked on F-14 Tomcats, A-7 Corsairs and F/A-18 Hornets. I am 6' 4" and weight 220lbs. I purchased this item in XXL size and it fits me perfectly. I have always wanted one of these jackets. I would like to see an image of Navel Aviation on the inside of the jacket instead of Army Air Force. Nothing against the Army, however this is a Navel aviators G1 jacket. I like the side hand warmer pockets too.

Review: I've had other leather flight jackets in the past, the cockpit G3 is made from a thicker weight leather. This jacket is put together well and seems very sturdy.
It has a shiny finish right out of the box but does not look "antique". The lining is quite interesting with the map. This jacket is not made for a warm day, I would say 35-55 degreesF. The only thing I did not like is that the sleeves are a little on the long side. The body is relaxed fitting enough so you can get a light sweater underneath without any trouble. I wear 44 Reg and the large was a good fit. Overall a eye catching garment.

Review: It was everything you fella's said it would be , it's taking on new wrinkles every time I wear it . Which is pretty much everywhere. It makes the true meaning of what a leather jacket should wear, feel and smell like it makes a very distinctive sound that only leather on leather can make and I really dig that .The pleats the way it is taking on a patina that is truly antique, I have often thought of purchasing another and still vey well might here in the future. Review: Overall, I'm satisfied with the G-1 Jacket in all aspects except for the bi-swing back which seems to remain expanded when not being stretched out. It dosen't remain flat at rest. The fit is good and the leather quality is fine along with the general style of the Jacket. Note also that the zipper is very hard to get aligned and started.

Review: Sizing not at all as advertised. I wear an XL in all jackets and I swim in this thing! I should have ordered a large, no question! I relied on the recommendations of the website. Then after a couple of days, a front button fell off and I could not locate it so I'm stuck with a jacket I'll never wear. Too bad, I really looked forward to having this particular coat for years. Return policy makes it impossible to return for a correct coat as well. Lots of money down the drain.

Review: Quality, feel, appearance great. Fit is only problem. I am 5' 5", 155 lbs. Med. jacket fits girth, but jacket is too long and sleeves 2 1/2" too long. Knit cuff is completely hidden. In a suit jacket, I wear 40 short. If you had offered a Med short, it would have fit much better. The Med. I got would probably be a good fit for a man about 5' 10" and 155 lbs. I did not exchange, because I thought a small would be too small for waist & chest.

I wouldn't buy this jacket again.

Review: What I like: Great fit, very well constructed, Nice soft leather. I like the hidden side entry pockets.
What I don't like:
The fur collar too large and looks like I have an animal draped over my neck. Yes...it's removable but I originally planned on wearing the jacket with it's fur collar...like my original flight jacket. Now I can't.
I also missed the "USN" that was embossed on the inner zipper flap of the original flight jacket. I don't understand why your less expensive jacket has it and the most expensive model doesn't?!!

A practical classic that never goes out of style. It looks and feels great and is SO warm. My dad had an original and this really fits the bill! The hand warmer pockets are an excellent update for the non-military version. The real wool Mutton collar is the best! Top notch all the way. Glad you still offer this gem.

Amazingly Wonderful!!!!!!

Review: This jacket MORE than met our expectations!! There isn't anything my husband really didn't like....except he thinks the opening of the side pockets are too far back toward the side seam (aft) He has to make a concuss effort to find the pocket opening. The zipper wants to rub and catch on the strip of leather behind the zipper,unless you realize you have to hold the zipper out for it not to do it. These two things are something he will get use to the more he wears it...which he loves to do.The jacket is heavy.  My husband says the only time he realizes HOW HEAVY is when he picks it up to put it on.....but wearing it he does not notice it. He is 6'2" and 225 lbs and the XL fit perfect!  It comes below the waist and the sleeves are long enough that when he reaches for something it doesn't ride up his arm...this is a wonderful thing because he does have long arms. Over all it is an amazing jacket and HE LOVES IT!!! It is a little darker leather than I had thought it would be but it is Beautiful. I think my husband walks with Pride when he wears it.He Loved the map inside!

Best jacket ever!

Review: I love the jacket.  It fits great, and looks even better. I do find the operation of the zipper to be a little less then smooth. If you are not careful it tends to hang up on the inside leather flap. Some zipper marks are evident. The freedom of movement due to the design is noticeable. I did get a slight tear in the surface of the leather on the RT arm as it was nicked by something sharp. Any suggestions for repair?

Little bit steap in price for size and quality

The thread on the pocket button is unraveling. The fur collar seems a little cheap like a piece of rug or maybe dead rat. Besides that its kind of okay. I was really disappointed in all of my shipping cost I paid.

Excellent Quality Leather Jacket

Great Jacket, comfortable

Review: Today when I left home it was 46 degrees out. It warmed up to 57 later in the day. And I've got to tell you this jacket was the best. I've been riding in Northern Ill. for 32 years. And have had a few leather jackets. And for a cool weather riding,this one was the best. Very comfortable for my all day ride. Even was great to wear when off the bike. Looking forward now to keep on riding into November. Being in Northern Illinois a lot of our riding is in not so good weather. Its good to know that I have a good weather gear to wear, and this jacket is on the front line of my gear. Great jacket.

Review: This jacket was exactly what I had hoped for when ordering...and it got to me lightning-fast! The leather is so soft and supple it seems as if I've been wearing it for years. I bought it as a motorcycle jacket and am thrilled at how the jacket "moves" with me and doesn't pull and tug when my arms are outstretched. My only complaint, if you could call it that, is that the cuffs are not as tight around my wrist as I would like. I plan to have some wide elastic sewn into them.

Review: Great jacket, just what I was looking for. Unable to find anywhere near this quality in retail stores. The original size I ordered was a little too tight so I exchanged it and received excellent customer service. The sherling collar is very warm and soft and is removable. The one and only con is that the collar is attached with elastic hoops which go around buttons and at least one or two hoops seem to always need to be reattached around the button when putting the jacket back on. Definitely recommend this product.

Review: Gorgeous jacket. I got this for my sig other and my only concern was it having "The Cockpit" logo on the chest of the jacket. But I was plesantly suprised when I recieved the jacket and the patch was not sewn on but instead loose in a pocket for optional attachment. The inside map is a beautiful addition. I was very hesitant to order a $400 jacket, but this was WELL worth it and looks like it'll last forever. He never takes it off!!! Thanks!
