About the author:

June Bonesteel, 1987 National Flight Instructor of the Year, has been flying since 1963, instructing since 1967, and performing aircraft maintenance since 1974.  She holds ATP, Flight Instructor, Ground Instructor, A&P Mechanic, and I.A. certificates, and is rated in both airplanes and helicopters.  As a Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE) since 1981, conducting flight tests for the Private through ATP including the Initial Flight Instructor Certificate and additional instructor ratings, she knows first hand where the problem areas are on the practical test.
