God Awful by Terry Hunefeld from San Diego
Pros: none Cons: sing-song, not realistic, hokey scripting Review: The sing-song voice of the actors hired to read these scripts will drive you NUTS. I purchased both this set and the Gold Seal Oral Exam Summary at the same time. The Gold Seal set is GOLD. The private pilot audio checkride was unlistenable. I'd also recommend the King School On-Line Private Pilot Practical Test Course - it's John King sitting down and flying with a real-life FAA tester. Entertaining, fun to watch and learn lots. Again, I cannot say enough good about the Gold Seal program - well done, excellent context.

Unrealistic -- I HOPE by David from Smyrna GA USA
Pros: Better than nothing for a student with no idea what to expect Cons: More tightly scripted than a Hitchcock film Review: This set of CDs is a small amoiunt of material in a large package. And while I eagerly looked forward to learning about what to expect on my checkride, the "actors" were so textbook, so perfect, that I didn't know whether I should laugh or fear my checkride. I mean, the student was quoting chapter and verse from the FAR book. I sure hope my FAA examiner doesn't expect a memorizing robot, cause I'll fail!

Good technical content but just too technical blabber by VaibhaV Sharma from Beaverton OR USA
Pros: Good technical content, clear voice. Cons: Sounds like someone reading a book. Review: I am preparing for my checkride right now and got this cd a month ago. They say this is an example of a "very well prepared candidate" and that is very accurate description. The problem is that what the CD sounds like is a non-technical person reading off the answers in a single monolithic (does have change of tone in the voice) readout at a specific speed. I feel the answers could have been simplified a bit for an average student to be able to memorize and answer.
For the technical content, the CD is good (like reading off a book) but for user friendlyness, it is average to low average. I have listened to it about 5 times completely end to end and still feel like I need to listen to it 10 more times apart from reading the Oral Exam guide questions at least 3 times).

Great Checkride Refresher/Study Tool by Jim from Denver
Pros: Covered much more that the FAA will cover, that’s a good thing! Cons: Did not review class B airspace clearance information. Review: I found this product to be VERY helpful to me just prior to my FAA Check Ride. I listened to the audio in my car while driving to and from work. Certainly no substitute for studying, but a great refresher prior to the "big day".

Review: I would rather have a DVD for this topic. Having both sound and a picture is better. Also in a DVD the student can be shown important things such as secitonal maps and etc. as it is done during the exam.
