Headset is fair value.
by A Customer from Cheyenne WY USA

Pros: Head set is a good value and is very servicable.
Cons: If you are out to impress anyone over money spent this in not for you.
Review: The headset is OK for the money spent. It does the job. The mike is quite in fairly loud background noise. Headset hearing protection is average. The head set is not uncomfortable wearing (longest time for me 3 hours)

Good deal!!!
by james from Winston Salem NC USA

Pros: Fit ,weight , noise cancellation and price
Cons: none
Review: We just got back from a four hour round trip in my Aeronca Chief using these headsets. Using these headsets made life nice, didn't have negative issues whatsoever with these.I've used Telex and hated the fit and David Clarks were too heavy, but these are nice! Noise cancellation is very good and I have no issues with the weight or fittment. I highly recommend these for the price and quality.

A good economical headset
by David from Youngsville NC USA

Pros: sound deadening, light weight, comfortable
Cons: maybe a fit issue
Review: Good sound deadening & good volume control. Not having tried any of the high end headsets, it's impossible to make any comparisons but if you're on a budget this one will do the trick. I did notice that if you have a "small" head, the headset may not adjust small enough to fit properly over the ears. I had to use the shortest setting possible.

by David from Blackwell OK USA
Pros: Works well, priced OK
Cons: Needs cloth ear covers
Review: I learned to fly in the early 70s headsets were not all the rage. I have used noise reduction ear plugs and hand mic for most of my flying. Recently I decided to give headsets another try. The Soft Com C-40 was priced reasonable so I am giving it a try. So far they work well on both hearing on my end and others say my transmissions are loud and clear on their end. As summer is warming up I will no doubt try a set of cloth ear seal covers.

Review: At times the headset would stop working other than that it is great. I don't know if it is the aircraft or the head set. Have there being any problems with this head set.

Not bad!
by Robert from Wadsworth OH USA

Pros: Good sound. good comfort due to the generous padding.
Cons: Microphone could be better.
Review: Bought this headset for my wife. She is fairly particular about comfort, especially concerning her head. She is prone to headaches. This is a nice entry level headset for our use. The sound is crisp and clear. The microphone is probably not the best, but it sounds OK through the intercom. We had to play with the squelch to get the mic to activate with her voice level. She is pleased with the comfort. It has generous padding on the headband as well as the ear cups. She can wear it for several hours at a time with no complaints. Not bad for the modest cost. I would recommend it for a second headset, one for the wife, or for a guest.

by Darren from Waipahu, HI
Review: This is my first headset, I am a student pilot and didn't want to keep using the schools community headsets, so I purchased this one based on the reviews I read from this site and also because of the price. It works very well but sometimes when the mic is in the way of the cabin air vent I get that hissing sound transmitted on my headset. Other than that I like this headset quite a bit.

excellent buy
by jason from vine grove KY USA

Pros: great fit and noise reduction
Cons: a little tight but will get better
Review: I am a student flyer, my instructor told me that I would need head phones so after shopping I decided to go with these. What a great choice.  Very comfortable, fit great. I can also hear everything loud and clear. If you're looking for a great head set then I highly reccomend these.  Great bang for the buck.

OK for the price
by Ethan from San Antonio TX USA

Pros: Low Cost
Cons: Cheap feel, Cheap components
Review: I bought this headset as a cheap spare or passenger headset. My primary headset, which I love, is a David Clark H10-13.4. The SoftComm Pro-Am is by no means a David Clark. The components and overall feel of this headset are cheap and the plugs make loose connections in the aircraft's intercom. Having said that, after spending a few minutes of each pre-flight messing with the connection so that my passenger can hear, the microphone is good, as is the clarity of the speakers. If you need a cheap passenger headset, this will work. Do not purchase this as your primary headset.

Excellent for the price!
by Eric from Clearwater, Florida

Pros: A lot of value and solid performance for a very reasonable price
Cons: None I've found so far
Review: I own a great pair of LightSpeed 30XLc 's, I bought this SoftComm C-40 as a second set for passengers and/or backup. I'm extremely impressed at how well they work! Relative to their <$100 price, these are good quality with surprisingly good performance. The passive attenuation is as good as any passive David Clark out there. The headband is a nice snug fit without the pressure. Nicely padded top band. Microphone is noise-canceling and quite crisp. These make an excellent first-time set or extra set for passengers. I feel as though I got more than my money's worth.

cheap doesn't necessarily mean poor quality
by dave howell from columbus, ohio

Pros: light weight and inexpensive - and made in the U.S. too
Cons: haven't found any yet
Review: I don't see how a tool could work any better. cancels engine and wind noise very well.

You get what you pay for.
by Karol from Fox Lake IL USA

Pros: Cheap!!!!, excelent nose reduction.
Cons: quite speakers.
Review: I was looking for a cheap headset to give to passengers like my sister to use, instead of barrowing one from my flight instructor. I’m a new private pilot and a whole lot of people want to fly with me. That’s exactly what I got with this product I wouldn’t use it myself as a main headset but it firs this purpose well. My passengers complain that it’s too quite; they have a hard time hiring me even with the volume turned up all the way.

Review: Have logged ten hours with this set:fit, comfort, mike,& sound all A-OK...Adjusting the mike placement was a bit tedious. Good "Starter" set for any student.

Review: No frills but gets the job done right

Excellent headset!
by KertDawg from North Carolina

Pros: Excellent comfort, excellent audio, excellent microphone.
Cons: Mike boom might wear with abuse.
Review: I won't mention how inexpensive this headset is. Compared to more expensive headsets, it's still a good set. It fits well and stays comfortable for hours. The mike boom is not the most durable, but it certainly does the job. The audio quality is great, and the microphone works very well.
