Icom IC-A20 / IC-A21 / IC-A2 1100mAh NI-MH Battery

Aftermarket battery that replaces the 600 MAH NI-Cad battery (CM-7G or CM-7) for the Icom IC-A21, IC-A20, or IC-A2.

This is a 13.2v 1100mAh 3 1/4" tall, Nickel-Metal Hydride long life battery.

What's the difference between Ni-Cad and Ni-MH batteries?
The main difference between the two is that NiMH battery (the newer technology of the two) offers a higher energy density than NiCads. In other words, the capacity of a NiMH is approximately twice the capacity of its NiCad counterpart. What this means is for you is increased run-time from the battery with no additional bulk or weight. NiMH also offers another major advantage: NiCad batteries tend to suffer from what is called the "memory effect". NiMH batteries are less prone to develop this problem and thus require less maintenance and conditioning. NiMH batteries are also more environmentally friendly than NiCad batteries since they do not contain heavy metals (which present serious landfill problems).

Will my original wall charger work with this battery?
Yes, this battery will work just like the battery that came with your transceiver.  It's the same size and form factor and can use the same wall charger that came with your radio.

by DOYLE from PLEASANT HILL MO USA

Review: The Icom battery arrived very quickly from the shipper and it worked very well. We are much more satisfied with this Icom battery than we were with a cheep of-brand type that we tried.

by Mark from Billings MT USA

Pros: Great to use my old radio
Cons: None
Review: My dad bought me the IC-A20 17 years ago when I soloed my Gyrocopter. This radio means so much to me and at one time, there were no replacement batteries for this radio. I can now use this radio and think of the great times in the gyro. Thanks mypilotstore. Mark Curtiss

had issue with the product
by A Customer from Marblehead MA USA

Pros: service was great and price was fair
Cons: had a major amount of difficulty in installing it in my handheld
Review: The replacement battery was received right on time. however it did not fit the handheld without a mjaor amount of puushing it into the unit. I am not sure I will be able to remove it without any effort, especially if in flight with the min amount of chop.

by Paul from Clarks Summit PA USA

Review: The battery fit perfectly and it is preforming better than I could have expected.

Just as advertised
by Jeffrey from Granada Hills CA USA

Pros: It works just as advertised.
Cons: None
Review: This battery is just like the original that came with the radio and performs in an identical manner. It even came fully charged so I could use it immediately. My Icom A-21 was used twice over the years in real emergencies when my C-172 lost all electrical power in flight. I would be lost with the portable radio and the new battery put it back on the map as a serious radio back up.

by A Customer from Hermon ME USA

Good battery for the price.
by David from Lincoln VT USA

Pros: More capacity, no memory effect that Ni Cad has
Cons: Silghtly off color in apparance.
Review: This battery has more capacity with newer technology than the origional one. The color is slightly off and does not match the radio exactly. Not a big issue. It fit the radio snugly, but not a problem. It does not have the memory effect that the old Ni Cad battery had.

SHAZAM!
by A Customer from Bolingbrook IL USA

Pros: long life
Cons: none
Review: Inherited a 10-year-old Icom radio with a battery that lasted 2.3 hours on a full charge. This replacement lasted 22.7 hours of continuous "on" with an occasional outgoing message. The color is off by just one tint or so, but with this performance, who cares? No problem getting on or off. I'm going to buy another as a back-up.

Rapid service
by Colin from Stoke-on-Trent Great Britain

Works as advertised
by A Customer from Sacramento, Ca

Pros: Long life
Cons: doesnt match original color of radio, getting it on the radio first time was a nightmare
Review: I'm glad I purchased the battery. However, getting it on the radio the first few times was extremely difficult. Once it has been on/off the radio a few times, it slides smoothly and provides a good battery life.

ICOM Replacement Battery NI-MH IC-A20
by David L. from Tulsa, OK

Pros: Longer battery life and good endurance
Cons: Difficultly sliding into old unit.
Review: The unit was a little difficult to slide into the old radio. It required the use of silicon spray to allow it to slide into the rails of the radio.

Other than that the unit charged fine and is working well.
