Great looking shirts.

Review: These are great looking and fitting shirts. I have two organizations that I need to have a white short sleeve shirt and by their regulations the shirts need epaulets. These shirts are very wearable and with a vertical crease on each side over the breast they give you a very sharp appearance. So well pleased, I will probably order the same shirt in a long sleeve this week.

Not bad but the Aviator is better!

Review: Firstly I wear these shirts for as part of an airline uniform in the uk. Been wearing these things for quite a while so know a thing or two about shirts.

In a nut shell, just buy the Van Heusen Aviator shirts instead, yes they have a lower cotton content but the material will iron and look better, lasting all day rather than creasing straight away.

The Commander pockets are strange also, where as the Aviator are normal with pen holder slot still.

Again you want a pro's shirt, just buy the Aviator!

The quality has greatly deteriorated

Review: I have bought these same shirts in years past and they held up well. I recently purchased four shirts and within only a few months the collars have lost their shape, they show large areas of dimpling which indicates that the backing has separated and the collar seam on one has frayed because they sewed the seam too close to the edge of the fabric. I will not buy their products again because their construction is unsatisfactory.

Being to thin is not always good

Short Sleeve Commanders Shirts

Cons: The shirt loses life, needing replacement every 18 months or so.
Review: I enjoy the easy access into the shirt pockets, open for glasses and pens, trip sheets, etc. without unbuttoning flaps. The Commander pocket flaps are cosmetic, but not functional. Other models of Van Heusen shirts have the working flap to cover and protect items if needed. The shirt is a standard size so I didn't have to return shirts to get Size 16 either altered or returned. Good product for the price, and delivery was in a couple of days. Thanks for the timely service.

Review: These Van Heusen Commander Shirts are great! They are durable, easy to clean and need little ironing. There is only one area I have a concern about and that is the top pocket corners. Beause of the heavy use pilots' shirt pockets get, the top pocket corners of the main part of the shirt have a tendency to tear out easily. There isn't any reinforcement on the back side of the fabric where the top of the pocket is sewn in. Consequently, the shirt tears easily. I have repaired every shirt that my pilot son has because of this tearing issue.

Review: Sturdy shirt that requires an inordinate amount of collar scrubbing compared to the others I've worn. The epaulets are a bit too long; it makes the shirt look awkward. Nice for the money

Good shirt with 2 slight problems

Love wrinkle free

Excellent quality - stainproofing is a savior!

Cons: Righthand pocket no longer has a pen pocket sewn in. As a lefty I miss my righthand pen pocket - my first set of COmmander shirts had it, but two subsequent sets have not had it.
Review: These are very high quality shirts. I have used the Aviator line of shirts for years as well as several other company shirts and the Commander is the best I've seen yet. It has enough cotton to iron & starch very well but still be pretty wrinkle resistant. In addition the fabric is treated with a stain repellent that has saved me numerous times. Once I spilled Crystal Lite on my shirt and it just beaded up. My hand was stained but the shirt was not. For those of us that have to each at the controls, spills/splashes are inevitable. Rain beads up on it too.

Review: The shirts are more than what I had expected. I really like the cheater front pockets with the opening at the top without having to unbutton the shirt pocket to get into the pocket. It sure makes it easy to remove and replace my pocket calculator with out having to unutton my shirt pocket and yet with the button on the outside still looks professional.

Improved? Product

Review: I recently purchased two Commander pilot shirts. I've had a positive experience with Van Heusen pilot shirts in the past, so I had no reason to be concerned with this purchase. However, as I unwrapped them, I noticed they did not appear as white as older Van Heusens in my closet. Then, when I washed them, I noticed the water beading up on the shirt and when I ironed them the spray starch did the same.

I contacted Van Heusen and they confirmed that the shirts are now treated with a stain repellant and offered to replace them. Since all the shirts have the same treatment, replacement would not solve the problem. I'm just gong to wash the heck out of them and hope the treatment fades with time and I can get them white.

Great Shirts

Review: I would buy these shirts again. They are very comfortable after a couple of washes. At first, they do rub your neck raw a little, but otherwise, they are great shirts. They hold starch well and stay wrinkle free longer throughout the day than other aviator shirts.

Review: I used to buying the polyester/cotton mixed shirt, and the problem for the tetron fabric turns their color yellow after several wash. However, I love this van heusen shirt I bought that stays white. The fabric is much better, it is uncomparison for the dollar to quality. Good Uniform shirt! Tim.
