Not Worth it by Daniel from CA
Pros: Cheap for a 10 hours of DVDs and the materials. Cons: Useless Review: I didn't finish all the videos. It got worse and worse to the point where I was just wasting time. The level of instruction was so bad and the presentation was horrible. Mistakes, over generalizations, very primitive power points. This video is not made for the practical test as there is virtually nothing on it about the actual act of teaching. It's just a person reading PowerPoint with very very bad production. Get the ASA CFI book and CD for self study, that's all you need.

Gets the job done at a minimum by A Customer from Los Angeles
Pros: Gives good ideas on how to present lessons on the checkride Cons: Very cheaply made and very boring Review: I've never used video instruction but since this is the CFI course I thought I'd try it out, being an advanced rating and all to save on future live instructor costs. This course gets the job done but it's so very boring and it's very obvious that they didn't put a lot of effort into making this a great course. It's just a power point presentation with recycled stock footage of 172s and piper warriors flying around, plus the editing is bad. You could just as easily skip this and just use the book version (included in this). The only reason why it gets two stars is because the presentations of the FOI and some of the other presentations will be good to imitate when you will be teaching the maneuvers or lesson plans and such. Plus it's pretty cheap compared to comparable CFI courses from Sporty's,Jeppesen,Kingschools.

If you like to catch mistakes this is the test prep for you! by Marcy from Kingwood TX USA
Pros: you are given a book for self-study Cons: you but dvd's to help you study and they are lacking in depth and accuracy Review: There are several mistakes that make you feel embarrassed for the "professional" that is teaching. If this is their field then why are they teaching it wrong. I am guessing that they don't have time to edit. The mistakes make it hard to study. At this level you would think that they would try harder to be accurate.

Having Trouble sleeping by A Customer from New York, New York
Pros: Well I guess if your dng a class it has nice graphs and such Cons: BORING Review: Tried this item for my CFI/FOI exam training, could not get past the first three DVD's, went with the Gleim books, along with the free test sites on the internet instead.

Boring but gets the job done by Keith from Hartly DE USA
Pros: easy to access, competent instruction Cons: painfully boring Review: This is the second test prep course I've gotten from ASA. Neither one is inspired, but the CFI is even more boring. But, it is much less boring and easier to manage than any of the live instructors I have worked with.
The section on regulations (the worst) consists of an instructor reading FARs for an hour.
They competently cover all the material, and drive home points with actual FAA test questions, but they aren't even close to being as good as the King at making the material interesting and memorable. (I wasn't able to use the King course because of computer compatibility issues)
