AV COMM AC900 Headset

The AC900 PNR with AVCOMM's exclusive patented PNR(TM) technology, offers more in an improved design. These latest enhancements make the AC900 PNR the premium choice in the AVCOMM headset lineup. Pilots and passengers everywhere are praising the features and benefits, claiming its comfort and performance surpass anything they've used before.

  • Patented PNR(TM) audio technology and full spectrum stereo response
  • Ultra-lite Neodymium speakers
  • M-65 microphone with "active filtering" chip
  • Full flex boom
  • Built-in push-to-talk
  • Mono-stereo switch built into the cord
  • Each ear cup features an independent volume control
  • Deluxe comfort package with deluxe gel ear seals
  • NRR: 24 dB
  • Weight: 13.6 oz.
  • Full five-year warranty

The powerful, ultra-lite Neodymium speakers produce a richer, smoother frequency response for both voice and music. The powerful magnetic core and diaphragm provide high sensitivity and optimized response.

The speaker, a thin lightweight 4/10th's of an ounce, reduces headset weight for added comfort. The advanced speaker installation technique enhances audio performance, reduces annoying inner ear cup vibrations and increases noise attenuation. The M-65 microphone with ceramic hybrid active filtering chip eliminates up to 75% of unwanted background noise while amplifying desired voice signals. Additionally, the preamp circuit is immune to environmental changes, will not corrode, and has a much longer life than conventional PCB based products.

Unique features include a full flex boom which bends and holds any position easily for precise microphone placement. A push-to-talk on the ear dome is a favorite feature for anyone who would appreciate a backup PTT. This addition allows easy and effortless transmission without reaching for the controls. Dual volume controls provide pilots and passengers more control for customizing personal audio preference. And new this year, a switch built into the cord allows independent volume control in either mono or stereo on either ear dome — a benefit for those with hearing loss.

Durable copper wire with spiral shielding eliminates RF interference while a polyurethane cover adds abrasion resistance and flexibility. Additional features include: gold plated mic and headphone plugs, high impact ABS ear cups, easy-to-adjust stainless steel headband with easy thumbnut adjustment, deluxe comfort headpad, deluxe gel ear seals, jumbo acoustic foam ear seals, 100% cotton ear covers, acoustic mic muff to protect the new microphone from moisture and wind noise, plus a full five-year factory warranty.

Very comfortable, Good value.
by Pat from Jacksonville, FL

Pros: Very, very comfortable, and who really needs active noise reduction?
Cons: I guess if you want a status-symbol, this is not for you.
Review: This is really top of the line without getting fancy and gaudy. I would think twice before I bought a more expensive pair. The flex boom will stay where you put it--no need to tighten any screws. The gel ear seals are amazingly comfortable, especially with the cloth covers that were included with mine (I think they are included with all). Don't listen to that one bad review--that guy obviously didn't have his radios set up correctly and blamed this nice headset. 5 year warranty is good.

Great Bang for the Buck
by Rich from Port Angeles WA USA

Pros: Comfort, Headband adjustment, Price
Cons: none yet
Review: This replaced my HS-1 and is a great upgrade. It is very comfortable and I am able to wear it for longer periods without fatigue. Mine came with an additional, shorter headband to accommodate smaller heads which was not advertised. The NRR is very good. The flex boom is easer to position than the wire boom. Overall quality seems very good.

Great Buy!!!
by Wayne from Odessa TX USA

Review: For the money, this is a great headset. I have some hearing loss in my right ear and any background noise really distorts sound. This set works great and the sounds come across clearly. It is also very comfortable.

Excellent Headsets. I recommend to every pilot.
by Emanuel from Deland FL USA

Review: I loved them. Those are the best headset that I bought in my life. They are very comfortable, and excellent audio system and the integrate push button is an advantage because the pilot doesn't need to put their hands in the yoke to talk. I loved I recommend to every pilot, especially student pilot.

1000 hrs and still going strong..!!
by Kelly from Mississippi

Pros: They work like a champ, wear well on long trips, PTT is nice when instructing, best bang for buck.
Cons: Started flying a Baron and they don't cut the noise enough so i'm moving up to the AvComm ANR950.
Review: Best "first" headsets for the price and features. And now with the ANR950 there is an option to the high priced Bose.

Not impressed at all
by Donald Mustachio from Pa

Review: I was mildly put off by the fact that the wire lead cords are less flexible than most others but they became entirely useless to me when both Unicomm and other pilots reported that my transmissions were so weak as to be barely audible; this while the mike was pressed against my lips.
Reception is fine.

by A Customer from SAN JOSE CA
Review: This is my first headset. I used it in flight and it performed very well. All communications were very clear. Mine came with some extra schwag in the box, like gel ear pads and a mic cover. That was a nice bonus. The Stereo option is cool. I practice my flight simulator wearing this and can get a much better sense of conditions via the stereophonic feedback. My sun glasses are uncomfortable to wear with the headset. I believe that would be the case with with any headset, so make sure to buy thin wire frame glasses for comfort.

Previous Customer Questions For AV COMM AC900 Headset:
Ask Your Own Question
On Thursday, March 12, 2009 a customer asked:
Q:
I already own a AC900 set and am planning to buy another. The set I have has cloth covers over the gel seals and a cloth mic cover. did that come with the headset, I forget, or did i buy that separate?
A: This headset comes with cloth ear cushion covers and a mic cover.

On Tuesday, March 18, 2008 a customer asked:
Q:
Can we use it as a talk always or do you have to push-to-talk?
A: The built-in PTT switch is a backup PTT or for use if your intercom does not already have a PTT.  In the cockpit you should be able to talk to other passengers without having to use the PTT.  It would only be used when transmitting outside the aircraft.

On Wednesday, October 31, 2007 a customer asked:
Q:
Sirs: I am interesting to find out if the AV COMM AC900 Headset can be used for flying a Helicopter? my son is presently training as a fixed wing Pilot and he will be doing some lesson with the helicopter is this headset good to go for him. your urgent response is needed as i am going to purchase the product in two days. thanks
A: The AC-900 can be used in a helicopter if you also purchase the Fixed Wing to to Helicopter Adapter. Or, you might also consider the AV COMM AC747 Headset which converts from general aviation to helicopter use (both cables included).
