Serengeti Sortie Satin Black 555nm Sunglasses

Serengeti Sortie Satin Black 555nm Sunglasses (7980)
Sortie is a classic aviator sunglass. Its frame is made with extremely light and incredibly strong Titanium, a material widely used in aeronautical applications. Ultra-Light glass lenses and highly adjustable nose pads deliver the performance and comfort pilots demand and anybody else can appreciate. Sortie was designed in partnership with Major Dan Rooney, former F-16 Fighter Pilot and founder of the Folds of Honor Foundation, an organization providing assistance to the families of fallen or disabled US soldiers.

For every Sortie sold in the US, Serengeti will make a donation to the Folds of Honor Foundation to help those in need.

Serengeti Aviators are just as much as home on the road as they are in the air.  No matter what you're piloting, Aerials with Serengeti's advanced photochromic lenses minimize fatigue and eye strain from the sun.

Lens:
Non-Polarized 555NM:  The 555nm lens gets its name from the 555 nanometer center of the visible color spectrum of light, the point where the human eye sees the easiest and most comfortably. Ideal for bright light conditions, the photochromic 555nm lens manages yellow and green light transmission to cool and relax the eyes. The light silver mirror coating further reduces eyestrain by acting as a protective shield against glare.

Technology beyond the naked eye
Serengeti lenses achieve such a high level of acuity because we only use the finest materials available. And the process by which Serengeti develops their lenses gives them exceptional color and contrast enhancement.

Serengeti's High Definition Lens
Serengeti's proprietary Spectral Control (TM) lens system provides contrast and color enhancement by selectively filtering certain colors from the visible light spectrum. This allows the most optimal colors through, creating an effect where colors are crisper and images are clearer, making it the ultimate high definition view.

Bright or Shade

Serengeti's exclusive photochromic lenses automatically darken in bright sunlight to give superior definition, while they lighten in overcast or shade conditions for extra contrast. And since the technology is infused directly into the lens, it will never wear off or out.
Block the Blues
Blue light waves cause a phenomenon called "blue blur", which occurs when they scatter off dust and moisture particles in the air and, essentially veil glare. Serengeti lenses block 95% of blue light, virtually eliminating the eye strain and fatigue blue blur can cause.
UV Protection Goes Beyond Standards
The government and commercial bodies have set standards for UV protection in sunglasses. Then there are Serengeti's standards. They're like yours standards. They go beyond the basic level of expectation, eliminating virtually 100% of UVA and UVB rays. The Serengeti lenses also feature an anti-reflective coating on the back side to block additional glare and reflections.
Eliminate the Harsh Glare
Glare is inevitable by-product of light rays bouncing off reflective surfaces. But Serengeti's polarizing film removes glare as an uncomfortable factor in driving, and the eye fatigue it can cause.

Good lenses. Small for the Face
by Amy from Central Florida

Pros: great lenses
Cons: too small for the face.
Review: I have to agree with the previous reviewer. I ordered these glasses in the silver frame. They're great lenses but I am a female and the frames are small for my face and almost look like they're for a child. One of the nose pads fell out and it wasn't a big deal to call to order more but I think I expected better quality and styling at this price.

too small for large head
by Kyle from Marion IL USA

Pros: nice style
Cons: Too small
Review: I love the look of the sunglasses, but was disappointed in the width. I noticed that when I put them on these sunglasses compared to others I have worn were smaller. I felt like I was wearing a teen or child's sunglasses. Make sure you have a thinner face if you plan to order these.
