Aircraft Engine Intake Cover

This engine intake cover is designed to protect and cover air intake openings on practically all general aviation aircraft including singles, twins and home-builts. It affords protection against nesting birds, snow, dust and blowing debris.

The cover will accommodate different angles, curves and sizes of engine cowls and air intake configurations by a simple Velcro adjustment. Fits aircraft that were, until now, unable to be fitted with the older and outdated types of protection.

Constructed of a lightweight fire retardant mesh material-approved by the California State Fire Marshall.  The material allows immediate covering following engine shutdown-will not melt or blister like older plugs. Complete with installation hardware and two "Remove Before Starting Engine" streamers.

It's terrible, I am on my second birds nest 2 just weeks!
by James from Bristow VA USA

Cons: does not work
Review: Do not buy this product. It requires special connections on your engine cowling. I have had to get out 2 birds nest in the last 2 weeks. I ended up having to get another normal engine plug. don't waste your money on this crap!

Previous Customer Questions For Aircraft Engine Intake Cover:
Ask Your Own Question
On Wednesday, April 21, 2010 a customer asked:
How is the cover secured to the aircraft What hardware is included and how invasive is the installation? Is the hardware visually noticable when the cover is off?
It is secured to the aircraft's cowl by drilling two small holes to permanently attach the male end of the snap button to the cowl.  There are two methods:

The first one uses a self tapping screw and requires the drilling of two 3/32" (.093) holes.  The installer should use caution when using this method as over tightening the screw could result in stripping the hole.  This is fully explained in the installation instructions.

The other method uses a machine screw and and a lock nut. This installation requires the drilling of two 9/64" (.140) holes in the cowl and should only be done if there is enough room to slip your hand and a wrench inside the cowl to securely tighten the snap button assembly.

You will see the two permanently installed male snap buttons on the cowl once the installation is complete.  Installation instructions and the hardware for both methods are included in the packaging and it also includes the step-by-step instructions with photos.
