On Tuesday, September 13, 2011 a customer asked:
Q: we operate a bell 407 helicopter which is fitted with a BOSE HEADSET( 06 PIN) Model No. AH-TC FAA-TSO-C 57A. Could you please give deatail of an equivalent Headset from Sennheiser.
A:
It sounds like you have the 6 pin Redel connector (also called the Bose panel power connector). If that is correct, you would want to get the Sennheiser HMEC-26-V-RP which uses a 6-pin Redel connector for microphone, headphone, and power.
On Wednesday, March 30, 2011 a customer asked:
Q: Hi there. I fly the A320 and am considering buying a ANR headset. Which of the 26 variant comes with the battery box as well as the airbus connector? Thanks much for the prompt reply.
A:
The HMEC-26-CP variant is usually the one you would want for the Airbus. It includes a 5-pin XLR connector to the Airbus which should supply you microphone, headphone, as well as power connections. It only works on 28 volt aircraft, but that should cover most (all) of the Airbus fleet. However, in your question you said that you want a battery box as well. None of the variants come with BOTH an XLR connector and a battery box since the battery box is not needed when getting power from the aircraft. If you want/need to use batteries, you would want to get the HMEC-26-B-K or HMEC-26-BV-K Headset. Both of these variants have the standard dual plugs (PJ-055 and PJ-068) and a battery box. To use either of these in the Airbus, you would also need the Fixed Wing Headset to Airbus Adapter which would supply you with microphone and headphone from the Airbus, but not power. The power would come from the battery box in the headset.
On Monday, July 12, 2010 a customer asked:
Q: Is the Sennheiser HMEC approved for use in the Airbus A330.
A:
Generally, yes. The HMEC-26-CP uses a 5-pin XLR connector for microphone, headphone, and power. The aircraft must have a 28 volt electrical system and specifically wired with an XLR connector. This is true for most Airbus A330 aircraft.
On Friday, February 26, 2010 a customer asked:
Q: Normaly the ANR headsets come with a seperate volume control box with also houses the batteries. I fly the airbus, is there any ANR headset with a 5 pin XLR but without the extra box for the volume control.
A:
This is a panel-mount headset which means that it does not have the battery box found on portable ANR headsets. The headset is powered by the 5-pin XLR connection however the Airbus that you fly must be specifically wired for a 28 volt connection.
