by Robert from Sewanee TN USA

Crazy name for a book -- but I keep buying it!
by FRED from MINDEN NV USA

Pros: Complete
Cons: Wordy
Review: Ok, I admit it, I'm a glutton for punishment. That's why I keep buying this book. I know the plot, the characters are totally undeveloped, and sometimes I really don't understand what I'm reading. But I love it for its ability to put me into a sound sleep. And after a year it's thick enough to prop up the missing leg under my desk, so I replace last year's FAR/AIM and keep my desk from tipping over. What can I say? The book is better than the movie?

Wish they would have waited for the new Part 61 changes
by A Customer from Perrysburg OH USA

Pros: Everything you need in one book
Cons: 2010 edition, very out of date (part 61 is all new as of October)
Review: Contains all the FARs and the AIM relevant to a part 91 flyer, 61/141 student, and the AIM. My biggest complaint, is that the publishing of this book (2010 ed.) should have been held off until after the big Part 61 updates that went into effect last week. I have had to go though all of the part 61 and cross-out/ past new pages into the book.

its too complicated
by doug from mount horeb WI USA

Pros: holds a heavy door open
Cons: hard to make heads or tail out of
Review: its too complicated. has the faa ever tried to read this thing? no plot for one thing. its hard to follow and at the same time repetitive. some nice pictures in the back part. I had the 2009 one and i thought this was a sequel but it seem like its the same story, mostly. :)

It's exactly what you'd expect
by Steven from Madison GA USA

Pros: Makes me look like I know what I'm doing at the airport.
Cons: I got a paper cut, but that's really my fault.
Review: This is a yearly publication that is essential to all pilots and aircraft owners. It's easy-to-use format can quickly tell you what laws have changed for the new year (a traditional review of mine for years).

Boring, But Essential
by michael from Hillsboro OR USA

Pros: Gotta know this stuff.
Cons: FAA writing often requires a lawyer to interpret
Review: What can I say about this sleep inducer? You can't be without it. Seriously, lots of good info. Best read early in the day when you are fresh. Warning, don't read in cruise flight, lest you overfly your destination!

Friday, October 23, 2009
Excellent
by Darran from Forsyth MO USA

Pros: all the info you will ever need for FAR/AIM's
Cons: alot of reading in small font, sections can blend in as the black section tabs are not very prominent from the side of the book.
Review: Excellent contents, plenty of reading. its a shame its not made with cutout tabs for each section on the side so they are easier to find.

Put me to sleep quickly!
by Tom from Renton WA USA

Pros: Pretty cover and some color pages.
Cons: It's the FAA.
Review: Ok, I have to give it a 5 since we don't have much choice where to get FARS. ASA version is fine and it's the only one I've been using in the 18 years I've been flying. Sure, the book is boring, and I only open it when I have to show it to a student. Ha!

by Pilot RC from Kiefer OK USA
Pros: Current and Accurate
Review: It is the good, old reliable FAR/AIM, except it is updated for 2010. After all, rules and regulations change all the time, so why would you buy last year's FAR/AIM? Get up to speed with the current edition.

a useful and necessary book for all pilots!
by Arlie from Pickens SC USA

Review: Some paragraphs have changed, some additions from my old book, but this is why I purchased it. If the data stayed the same you would never need a new book.
