The McMurdo FastFind Max-G Personal Location Beacon with built-in GPS is designed to provide individuals with the highest chance of being found quickly in an emergency. The Fastfind Max-G is a revolutionary hand-held Personal Location Beacon that features a built-in GPS receiver (Global Positioning System) combined with a 406 MHz transmitter and 121.5 MHz homing signal. In the event of an emergency, an alert signal is transmitted to COSPAS-SARSAT satellites and forwarded to a rescue coordination center within typically 3 minutes. The built-in GPS receiver will provide latitude and longitude coordinates to give a position to within typically 98 feet anywhere in the world. The Fastfind Max-G PLB comes complete with lanyard and designer splash-proof carry case to enable users to keep the PLB safely attached at all times.

Monday, January 24, 2011 simple enough by A Customer from Corona CA USA  Pros: Size is small enough to carry, easy to handle, easy to operate. Cons: Size is small but heavy for packing when weight is a concern, Price Review: Giving a 5 star rating without knowing if it will work when it is needed is difficult. It is easy enough to anticipate how it will work. It is still a bit big and heavy for packing, but I don't think it should be smaller do to it function and use. All in all the testing was easy and registering was easy....it looks like a great product. I will write again if I ever have to use it. Review: A PLB cannot be demonstrated before an actual emergency so we have to trust that it will work as promised. It seems easy enough to use with clear instructions. It is a compact size and weight and can be attached to your body a couple of different ways. It is advertised as "floating" but instructions say not for use in water. It also says do not deploy inside an airplane. In an actual flight emergency over water I don't know if it would be any use at all. Unfortunately, that was one of the reasons I wanted it.
