Excellent approach to G1000 training

Pros: The material is well-organized. The on-monitor presentation of the material is good, and the test-yourself segments are very valuable.
Cons: The voice of the narrator/lecturer is high-pitched and irritating.
Review: Garmin's own manuals are clear and thorough. Max Trescott's book is very readable, and thorough as well. But for me, the Jeppesen trainer was the most useful product for learning the G1000, because it teaches the G1000's features in the order in which a pilot would actually use them. (The Garmin manuals and the Trescott book are organized G1000 screen-by-screen, which is not the order in which a pilot would use them.) I am a student pilot, and am training in a G1000-equipped Diamond Star DA40, so I am learning everything "from scratch." That may be why I appreciate Jeppesen's organization.

Excellent Way to Review Virtually all VFR G1000 Features!

Pros: Superior teaching tool for getting primed for the actual cockpit
Cons: Little "solo" flying
Review: This Jeppesen product is an excellent way to be led through a complete review of many G1000 features - some common and some uncommon in regular use. If you are looking to "fly solo", consider also getting the Garmin G1000 simulator. Buying the "full" simulator product from Garmin is inexpensive and lets the user do whatever he wants without any lesson structure. The only downside to strictly "flying solo" is that the pilot can miss valuable features and flows. The Jep. product is a superior teaching tool that will get you primed before getting into the actual glass cockpit.

Good but light on Training aspects.

Pros: Graphics and solo operations.
Cons: Training - how and why to do things.
Review: It met my expectations but was light in training. Move video would have helped. I suggest using 2 training methods. This and a video trainer or a book trainer both of which are on the market.

OverpricedTutorialEmulator

Pros: The tutoria as a tutorial is excellent.
Cons: Way overpriced ... for a simulator see above
Review: The Jeppesen Garmin 1000 ... has a sometimes misleading interface. It is a limited tutorial. On the other hand, the Garmin company offers a G1000 simulator, with excellent documentation on functions and exercises for $35 total delivered. You do need a 1.86 GHz processor, etc., for it to work.

The only way to go..

Review: I bought the Jeppesen G1000 training CD rom and think it's the only way to go!! It's like having your own teacher with built in pause,stop,rewind and drop down chapters at the click of a mouse.The interactive lessons begin with a quick tutorial introduction. Then, the program starts taking you step by step from the first time seeing the G1000 Primary Flight Display and the Multi Funtion Display to being able to understand everything you need to know to fly through G1000. It is a little pricey, but you would spend it on instruction time.
