ADEQUATE REPLACEMENT

Review: While this product does appear to be the Garmin replacement part, the new design with the straight plug does create a tight fit and tough removal if you are using the yoke mount and/or the XM antennae. I found it neccessary to take the unit out of the mount to plug it in, then replace it in the mount which takes a lot of re-positioning a jiggling to get it back in place. Not a good exercise to have to tackle while in a critical phase of flight. You need to be careful how you unplug this cable as well as the tight fit can cause the plug head to separate from the cable (like my original did) while trying to hold on to the straight head and pull. Slight jiggling back and forth seems to work best if you can get a decent grip on it.

Review: The plug has been redesigned from the original. After using the product I think that the new design is probably superior. However, without some directions on how to install the new plug, my first reaction was that this product is the wrong one. It took a call to mypilotstore.com to find out how to install the new plug. A simple written explanation with the product would have prevented the phone call and lots of concern.

Review: The product is fine. I was looking for an adapter that had a 90 degree bend at the Joint as the picture showed. I am dissapointed that I have again not recieved what I needed.

Review: The cable will not lock in to my GPS 296. I called Garmin and they sent me another one and it didn't work either. I finally located my old one. Problem solved.

This cord did not fit the plugo-in on my 496 as advertized. Plug to unit was not 496 compatable.

Garmin 12VDC power cable

Cons: Garmin needs to redesign this connection to be more durable.
Review: Looks stronger than the original cable. The right angle plug that tended to separate over time is now a straight plug that looks somewhat stronger and less susceptible to fraying at the bend. 12VDC plug is well made and easy to grasp.
