Don't buy these.... by chris from chardon OH USA
Review: I've owned a few headsets in my career and found this to be the least performing. Noise cancellation is poor at best and comfort is not good past an hour and it consumes battery's at an alarming rate. I replace the battery in my light speed once a year whether it needs it or not and these every 4hrs. I would have returned them but my 30 days were up.

Comfortable but not reliable by A Customer from Louisville, KY
Pros: Comfortable for long flights, good build, good noise reduction Cons: Low reliability, soft case, slow service Review: I liked the wide ear pads and headband that fit nicely without discomfort for 4-5 hours. For an open headset, the noise reduction works well reducing mostly the lows, and the overall noise. AA Battery life is good. On the negative side, a speaker would stop working intermittently after about a year of use. Very slow warranty service took several months to work on it, only to return it with the problem still there. The supplied soft case will not protect the headset except from dust. It has no convenient place to put extra batteries.

Poor reliability.. by A Customer from Georgia
Pros: Lasts a long time on 2 AA batteries Cons: Reliability very poor, Sennheiser service department very slow.. Review: the headset is great when it works.. I've had it for two years and have had it repaired by Sennheiser twice for the control module failing/shorting.. Today it quit for the third time.. The headset has been treated very delicately to no avail.. the whole control module was just replaced in August.. I will not buy another Sennheiser product..

very good! by Dirk from Philadelphia PA USA
Pros: ANR is a dream! Strong frame! Review: I was using the Telex Airman before (B737) - this is now a BIG difference! Even with the switch to off, the sound is very clear, but with the ANR enabled it is really quiet! But: get used to it: the typical sound of the aircraft has changed! Beside this, wearing sunglasses is a little uncomfortable.

It's ok , but could be better. by A Customer from Virginia Beach VA USA
Pros: audio player blanking during radios calls, independent volume controls Cons: Below avg ANR. Bulky battery container. poor cord design. needs rigid container Review: Not so good 1. With such a tight fit on the head, I would have thought that the ANR would have been better in a B-737. 2. The battery container is bulky. Recommend redesign for AAA-sized power box. 3. The cord gets easily twisted. 4. The headset container needs to be more rigid. Good features 1. Audio player auto blanking during radio (in & out) calls- very responsive. 2. Independent earpad controls- good feature

A lovely headset!! by A Customer from Istanbul, Turkey
Pros: It's light, comfortable with great sound. Cons: ANR not powerful enough and it could have folded flat. Review: It's a lovely headset. It's light and extremely comfortable which means wearing for 6 hours straight is easy. It's user friendly and the sound is great. BUT it could have been better. The ear phones do not fold flat and the ANR just isn't powerful enough. These are minor gripes, but I really would have liked the headset to take up slightly less space in my flightcase and paying so much for an ANR headset I would have liked it to cancel more noise than it actually does. I think the next model Sennheiser produce could be perfect, but i don't think i will be upgrading in a hurry. As I say this is almost perfect and hopefully will last a good few years so not needing to upgrade in a hurry.

Great Headset ! by James from Magnolia TX USA
Pros: Audio is very clear, no high pitch squeals anymore, COOL! Cons: ANR could be a little more powerful Review: Headset is very comfortable and light weight. The audio quality is great. The quality so far is great. Everything works as advertised. A higher Db drop would be nice with the ANR on. The annoying high pitch squeals from step ons is a thing of the past, NICE! Overall a great product.

Previous Customer Questions For Sennheiser HMEC-46-BV-K ANR Headset:
Ask Your Own Question
|
On Monday, August 20, 2012 a customer asked:
Q: does it exist an adapter, from headset 5 pins, into aircraft 2 pins? I understand that if I buy directly the 2 pins headset, I will loose the capability to power it from the aircraft if I will fly with a powered 5 pin aicraft - thanks
A:
If you want to use it both on the Airbus with the 5-pin XLR and in aircraft with the standard dual plugs, you can do two different things. You can purchase this HMEC-46-BV-K headset along with a Fixed Wing Headset to Airbus Adapter that will convert the dual plugs to a 5 pin XLR. However, you will still need to power the headset with batteries as you noted. The other thing that you can do is purchase this headset along with the Sennheiser BV-CP cable. Then, when you fly in the Airbus, you just unscrew three small screws and swap out the entire cable assembly. The BV-CP cable assembly has the 5 pin XLR and it will get power from the aircraft so that batteries are not needed.
On Thursday, March 01, 2012 a customer asked:
Q: What is the warranty offered with purchase for these headsets?
A:
This headset has a five-year manufacturer warranty.
On Monday, November 07, 2011 a customer asked:
Q: If I buy the 46-bv-k series and I fly airplanes that uses airbus 5 pin plug: could I just use it with an adapter? would all the features work fine trough the adapter?
A:
Yes, if you get this Sennheiser HMEC-46-BV-K headset that has the standard dual plugs and then add the Fixed Wing to Airbus Adapter you would be able to use it just fine in the Airbus as well as any aircraft that has the standard dual female jacks. Of course, you will need to use the batteries in this headset instead of getting power through the Airbus that you would get with the HMEC-26-CP headset.
On Monday, September 26, 2011 a customer asked:
Q: Can you plug an iPhone directly into the headsets control box for audio or do you need a special connecter. I'm more interested in music than in using it to make calls!
A:
Yes, absolutely. You can plug your iPhone directly into the battery box to get stereo music through the headset.
On Saturday, January 29, 2011 a customer asked:
Q: Can you confirm it has an Airbus Plug 5 Pin?
A:
No, this has the standard dual plugs (PJ-055 and PJ-068). For the 5-pin XLR, you would instead want to get the Sennheiser HMEC46-CP headset.
On Monday, December 13, 2010 a customer asked:
Q: Can I use this in GA prop aircraft?
A:
Technically, yes, but it would not be recommended. This headset is intended for quieter jet cockpits and would not provide sufficient noise reduction in a single or multi-engine prop plane. If you are looking for something really lightweight for use in a prop aircraft, we would suggest the Clarity Aloft or the LightSPEED Mach 1 instead.
On Monday, August 09, 2010 a customer asked:
Q: What is the cable length between the battery pack and headset...also battery pack and end jacks?
A:
The length from the battery box to the plugs for the aircraft is 12" and the length from the battery box to the headset is 60".
On Tuesday, November 03, 2009 a customer asked:
Q: does the hmec-46-bv-k come with a mic muff
A:
Yes it does.
On Monday, May 25, 2009 a customer asked:
Q: does it include the cable that goes fromthe headset to the jacks of the airplane? is this one of the best you have for commercial aviation? thank you
A:
Yes it does include everything necessary to connect to standard aviation jacks found in all commercial jets except the Airbus (we have a different headset for that). Yes, this is a top of the line Sennheiser Pro aviation headset.
