  • Pros:
  • Review: I acquired an unused, still-in-box H10-76 from a military guy and paid a very good reasonable price for it. Little did I know that it was Military Spec- (single plug) and wont be able to use it on the Cessna Trainer I am using. Upon research online, i came across many conversion kits but with terrible unsatisfactory reviews. I came across MyPilotStore's conversion kit and based on the reviews i read, the "latest" iteration of the conversion kit specific to the H10-76 received very good ratings and reviews. So i took the 'dive' and ordered the kit. In the meantime, i also acquired an affordable aviation headset from Amazon by Cadence with ANR. Both conversion kit and the Amazon order came at the same time. I used the David Clarks first- and it worked flawlessly and with such crisp sound! I used the David Clarks for about and a week and decided to unwrap the Cadence from Amazon. Wow what a difference. The CAdence worked, but the sound was hollow compared to the DC with the conversion kit. Needless to say, the Cadence is in its bag, for passenger or back up use, while the DC's are getting its good use and i could not be any happier! Even my instructor is amazed i scored the DC's and that the conversion kit made it worked! Highly recommendable!

Military spec DavidClark H10-76- now working perfectly in Cessna 172

  • By Erick Ople on Tuesday, October 08, 2019
  • Pros: it simply works! and sounds great!
  • Review: Clear, Crisp, with quality! Compared to a $200 aviation headset i acquired from Amazon, this David Clark h10-76 with the "improved" conversion kit provides a quality sounding headset! The amazon purchased headsets sounds hollow , and even with noise cancelling, the David Clark filters out the noise that eminates from the Cessna 172. Definitely highly recommended for those looking to use their military spec'd H10-76's Why buy a new headset when your existing ones are just great!

Military spec DavidClark H10-76- now working perfectly in Cessna 172

  • By Captain EO - student pilot from Los Angeles California on Friday, September 20, 2019
  • Pros: it simply works!
  • Review: With my excitement on getting started with my Part 61 flight training, I ended up acquiring a brand new unused David Clark aviation headset. I immediately acquired this headset through Facebook marketplace from a military personnel that had two of this DCs. Well, naive me, although i got it for such a great price, I obviously did not do the research and found out that the DC model i acquired was the H10-76 - military spec with U-174 single plug. oops! I immediately read-up on conversion kits that were available for this headset for civilian use, but to my dismay, the reviews were lackluster. Many pointed out the conversion kit they have did not worked well. Luckily, MyPilot store sold what was touted as "improved" conversion kit. Upon reading up on the reviews, it seem that the ;previous version did have issues and simply did not work as intended. However, I suppose I got the DC at the right time because the latest iteration of the conversion kit was receiving great reviews! Users claiming that the improved version is- well, improved! and that it worked perfectly w/ their H10-76. Needless to say, I took the plunge and ordered the kit. I'm so happy because IT WORKED! My flight instructor was impressed I have David Clarks as my primary headset and were surprised they were the military spec'd H10-76! It has been working quite well plugged into a Cessna 172! The passive noise cancelling is working well, and the sound is clear and crisp!

Worked exactly as advertised!

  • By Michael; retired USAF from Leesburg VA USA on Thursday, September 12, 2019
  • Pros: Works perfect, easy to modify, relatively inexpensive.
  • Review: I've had a brand new DC H10-76 headset laying around for over 10 years, but when my son needed a headset to get some flight hours under his belt for AFROTC, I wanted to gift them to him, unfortunately, they weren't compatible with civil aircraft. I searched online, found the DC Conversion Kit, ordered it, spent 10 minutes doing the modification and he loves the new improved headset!

P.S. Order the cotton ear pads for the DC headset, really helped keep his head and ears cool and dry during those hot and humid August flights.

David Clark H10-76 conversion kit

  • By "Hook'em Hughes from Sherwood OR USA on Sunday, November 18, 2018
  • Pros: Good as new headset
  • Review: Fabulous. I have a 25 year old pair of Air Force David Clarks. My son was starting flying lessons and I really didn't want to but a new headset for him. I had the old David Clarks with a previous "conversion." It didn't work for him. That conversion only had the new plug in cord and didn't include the microphone kit. I ordered this new kit that included the cord and microphone. IT WORKS GREAT and my son loves his "new" David Clarks!

  • Previously Asked Questions

  • Tuesday, November 24, 2015

Q: I only bought just the adapter cable and my headset did not work in a general aviation plane. Would buying the microphone make it work? If so which microphone should I buy?

A: Yes, you will need the 1142-22 Electret Mic.  This will allow you to transmit.

  • Tuesday, April 08, 2014

Q: Does this adapter also change the impedance required to use the 10-76 in a general aviation fixed wing aircraft?

A: Yes.  The David Clark H10-76 Conversion Kit will convert your military headset into a civilian (general aviation) headset with the standard PJ dual plugs and high impedance.

  • Saturday, February 02, 2013

Q: I have a H10-76 headset that I was issued, will this conversation kit still allow me to use the my headset with military aircraft?

A: Yes, you will just need to remove the adapter and swap the microphone when switching from civilian to military use.  The adapter is super easy to remove/add and the microphone is just attached with a couple of small screws.  Keep an eyeglass size screw driver handy in your flight bag and you should be good to go.

  • Thursday, October 25, 2012

Q: Will this conversion kit work on an H10-66 headset, or do I only need the plug adapter?

A: If you would like to use the David Clark H10-66 in civilian fixed wing aircraft you would use the Low to High Impedance Adapter.

  • Saturday, October 13, 2012

Q: I want to order the conversion kit for the H10-76 headset, does this come with a mic cover?

A: Yes, a foam microphone cover is included.

  • Monday, May 11, 2009

Q: I have numerous H10-76XL that I need to plug into a PC Sound board without modifying the headset. Is there an adapter or converter box I can get for that purpose? Thanks

A: You would first need to convert them over to civilian fixed wing headsets with this conversion kit and then you would need the PC Flight Simulator Headset Adapter.

  • Wednesday, January 14, 2009

Q: Can you accidentally install the new mic upside down/or backwards or will it only work one way?

A: It could potentially be installed upside down, but if that happened you would just need to loosen the two little screws and flip it over.

  • Monday, October 01, 2007

Q: I have a H10-76 military headset. I want to be able to use my military headset for helicopter flight school where we fly the R-22's. Will this conversion kit make my headset work in the helicopter?

A: If you are going to be flying a R-22, you should just be able to get the 1142-22 Electret Mic instead of buying the whole kit.
