Review: This continues to be some of the best money I have spent yet in terms of bang for the buck in useful cockpit organization! There are lots of products that seem really useful but just add to the clutter and never get used, but this one never leaves its place on my yoke!

A little loose
by bbt from

Review: I use this on 1972 Cessna 172L. The clip is a bit loose on the yoke. I may need to add some sticky rubber to the inside of the clip

Overbuilt - I like it~!
by Adam from Sherman TX

Pros: obviously overbuilt and rugged, doesn't look cheap or flimsy
Cons: timer riser is not really wide enough
Review: Using this in a '69 Piper Cherokee 140, and I must say it is formidable. It grips tightly and doesn't move. It is built to last and probably will survive the plane and perhaps me. I did not have any problem with the viewing angle of the riser or it blocking any instruments. The only minor issue i would say is that the timer stand is not wide enough, so if your timer is rectangular like most, then it only attaches in the middle with an inch or 2 of timer hanging over each side of the riser. There is only enough support to push buttons that are in the middle - otherwise it teeters a bit and you have to support the edge of the timer with your hand while pushing buttons - it might be better if the riser was cruciform or at least a bit wider. Otherwise, it was a minor thing to just work around - probably a non-issue for most things like fuel timing or timing from FAF to MAP, but more concerning when having to stop and start the timer for holds etc. I would definitely buy this again!

Great Product.

Pros: Fits great,
Review: Good product. Only that would make it better for me is if you could attach and 1970 to 1978 Piper Cherokee to it for me I would be 100% please!

A lot to like about this
by A Customer from Aiea HI USA

Pros: Very convenient
Cons: top plate a little flat for good viewing of timer
Review: OKay. It's a bit of a pain to assemble but not that bad. I have have a timer that I attached to the top of this clip with Velcro but the angle is almost flat so the screen is hard to read during in bright daylight. However, it could be that if the platform for the stopwatch were raised, it would block my view of some instruments. It already blocks the suction gauge on one plane and the heading indicator on another. So you have to play with it. The clip is great for holding approach plates or whatever you want to refer to and is easy to attach. Just remember to remove it from rentals.

Glares in the sun
by Ilia from San Jose CA USA

Review: It works, but the clamp could be a little stronger. Bigger problem is the clip making a lot of glare in sunny weather. Both times I tried it I had to remove it in-flight. I will have to cover it or paint it before I can use it again.

This clip does the job very well
by A Customer from Roanoke TX USA

Pros: Constructed from very substantial material. Holds materials securely.
Review: This yoke clip fits my plane perfectly. I originally bought the same clip with the 2.5 rise but that was taller than I wanted so I the bought this 1.5" rise. I keep the first one because I fly in several make/model of airplanes and I will carry the first one purchased in my bag to use on the other places.

I wish I had bought this earlier
by A Customer from Anderson SC USA

Pros: Easy off and on, heavy duty
Cons: None
Review: I have been using this clip with a Cessna 172N. It has been excellent, greatly helping with my organization. I have found it great for clipping just about anything: airport diagrams, approach charts, en-route charts, and notes. I have not found it to slip to any noticeable degree. I fly a rental, and the only downside is remembering to take it out of the plane with me!

Very helpful
by Crandon- Instrument student from CA USA

Pros: Inexpensive and works well
Cons: None that I've experienced in the 10 hrs of instrument flying where I've used it
Review: I have not used any other yoke clips, but this one has worked very well for me in a Piper Arrow. I mounted a timer on it and use it to hold my approach charts. I had to mount the tab that holds the timer on he lower setting and cut the screw down so it doesn't interfere with the charts in the clip, but now it doesn't block my view of any of the instruments in the panel. It is easy to put in and out of a rental plane being held in by a velcro strap.

Fits Cessna 180A yoke and has stayed put so far.
by A Customer from Knoxville MD USA

Pros: sturdy
Cons: None so far
Review: I have only used this device for a few hours of flight with a plastic sleeved approach plate held by it. So far so good. It stays in position and has a tight grip on the approach plate.

Good YokeClip
by wayne tripp from Lynchburg VA USA

Pros: Solid
Cons: The extention bar when added to the top is barely short enough to not run into the MFD or PFD.
Review: I like the clip however I needed a bigger surface to put charts etc so I removed the clip portion and attached a kneeboard and I works great.

Yoke Clip

Review: The Yoke Clip is a good product and it does exactly what it says. However some of my fellow pilots asked me if I made it. The finishing is very rough, but it does the work. Anyway no one sees us in the cockpit.

Better than Sporty's
by Curt from Mebane NC USA

Pros: Easy on, Easy off, Solid but Portable.
Cons: Sticks out in my bag a little but worth it.
Review: Better than Sporty's Plastic Clip. I ordered both to compare them. After seeing and holding the Sporty's Yoke Clip, I never even bothered to try using it. I just threw it in the cabinet and started using the steel MyPilotStore Yolk Clip.

Simple, but works
by John from Alpine CA USA

Pros: Simple, secure fastening. Puts what you need where you need it.
Cons: Difficult to assemble
Review: The clip fits neatly and easily on the yoke of a Cherokee. I stuck some of the included velcro tape on my digital timer, and now I have both it and my approach plates right where I need them. Overall I am very happy with the device.

The one negative is that it takes three men and a small boy to put the darn thing together. I had to get clever with some needle nose pliers to hold the retaining nut while fastening the timer holder. That dropped it from a '5' to a '4' but it is still worth the money.

Baffling
by John from El Cajon, CA

Pros: Works as advertised. Well made.
Cons: A bit overpriced for what it is. Difficult to assemble
Review: Very simple and solidly built. Comes with the timer mount in a separate bag, and I challenge anyone to attach it with just a screwdriver. There are no instructions, and I ended up dismantling the clip to get the timer mount attached. Much more difficult than it needs to be.

Works but looks homemade and unprofessional
by Paul M from San Francisco, CA USA

Pros: Holds things to your yoke
Cons: No instructions, cheap home-made appearance
Review: This product comes with a piece of aluminum, a screw, a bit of velcro, and... well I couldn't figure it out. No instruction sheet or even diagram of what I'd be aiming for. That said, the actual yoke clip worked fine, if a little hard to squeeze, so if you're in the market for a purely functional device this might be OK for you.

Works As Advertised
by Tony from Marietta GA USA

Pros: Holds approach plates and timer, doesn't obstruct instrument view.
Cons: Yoke clip rotates in FTD. Clip too small to hold entire approach book.
Review: Works in my C-172 to hold multiple approach plates. Clip too small to hold SE4 NACO book. I didn't add the timer piece. Timer has magnetic back to holds well to clip. However, yoke clip rotates in FTD due to smaller diameter yoke shaft.

Nothing fancy but does the job
by Len, Mooney M20C from Point Roberts WA USA

Pros: study, durable, simple
Cons: Timer bar blocks lower panel, Velcro tightener will need to be adjusted intermittenly.
Review: This is a very plain Jane item, but it is sturdy and thus far has met my needs. It holds an approach chart at the right level mid yoke without blocking the panel. I'm not using the timer attachment bar since I have a panel timer, but wouldn't use it anyway as in my Mooney, it would block part one of the instruments. The clip is very strong, maybe strong enough and large enough to hold a bound book or approach plates although I'm not going to go that route. I'm using approach plate envelopes to protect my approaches and this gives some extra stiffness. One could easily mount many plates in sequence, rotating them as needed. The attachment to the yoke is tight and so far I've not found any tendency for it to swivel. It might with a heavy chart book, haven't tried it. It's worth the price in my book. It looks as though it will last a long time with no plastic parts to deteriorate.

Does not work for approach books
by Phillip from Atlanta GA USA

Pros: Good fit on yoke
Cons: Won't hold book. No back support
Review: If you use approach charts that can be individually removed this will work OK, but even then it does not provide any back support. If you use the dinded book of approaches, this clip will not hold the book.

Good - not great - yoke clip
by James from Vancouver WA USA

Pros: Holds approach plates well
Cons: Extension for timer hits panel; blocks view of DG
Review: I bought this for holding approach plates while working on my instrument rating. The clip fits securely to the yoke and holds the approach plates in a good position. The metal extension bar, however, will hit the instrument panel. Also, I fly a number of different 172's and in all but one the DG is directly above the center of the yoke. As a result, putting a timer on the extension bar blocks your view of the DG. Also, with the yoke full forward the extension hits the glass instrument face, creating a concern that it could scratch the instrument. Solution: I removed the extension bar and put velcro on the top of the clip. My timer now attaches to the clip, not the extension bar, and no longer blocks or hits the DG.

Good for plates, marginal for timers
by David from San Leandro CA USA

Pros: Mounts on any yoke that I've used (Small Cessnas, Pipers, training aircraft)
Cons: Timer mount could be made of steel, improving the timer contact interface
Review: The clip mounts on the yoke shaft securely, and rotates out of the way of the DG during non-IFR ops. I just have to remember not to leave it in the rental after my flights. The velcro mount for the timer could be better. Perhaps the mounting arm for the timer could be made of steel, making it magnetic (since most timers have a magnetic backing). The velcro is not very secure, and the timer seems loose. An annoying problem in an otherwise well-designed tool.

better than plastic
by Douglas from Puyallup WA USA

Pros: metal, strong, easy to remove and tighten
Review: I tried plastic versions and they seemed cheap. This clip is strong and fits well. Be sure to tighten well to avoid slipping found in lighter models. I love it...

Yoke Clip - I removed the riser bar
by Barrie from Chandler AZ USA

Pros: Clip is a good size and has firm grip; velcro strap holds it to the yoke firmly
Cons: Riser bar, with timer attached, partially blocked view of instrument panel
Review: It did just fine. It stays in place firmly, and the velcro makes it nice and tight. The riser bar (which is where I velcroed my timer), however, tended to block view of the VSI, so I removed the bar from the clip and mounted my timer elsewhere. But it served its purpose fine.

Very useful
by Vishwas from Arlington TX USA

Pros: quick to install, sturdy, timer holder is useful, fits nicely in Cessnas, almost unbreakable
Cons: sharp edges, looks little crude
Review: I was having trouble maintaining level flight whenever I looked down at the charts/approach plates during my instrument training. This small product has been really useful throughout my training. I would recommend it to everyone. Its useful for all flights vfr/ifr, especially instrument students. The check examiner appreciated my sense of cockpit management. It fits perfectly in C-172M, C-152 that I currently fly. I will be flying SP and Seminole soon and this will work there too. I couldn't use the timer holder in upright position in Cessnas, but turn it to either side and you can have an unobstructed view of all instruments.

Very Happy!!
by Gary from Lakeland FL USA

Pros: Mounts and removes quickly and easily, room to mount a timer.
Cons: Some modification required to prevent slipping to the side.
Review: The Yoke Clip I recently received works very well. Initially, there was a problem with the unit slipping to the side due to the smoothness of the yoke shaft on which it was mounted. An application (one wrap around the column)of cloth tape and the unit now works perfectly. It stays in place even in moderate turblence. There was enough room on the top of the clip to mount my timer. I used velcro so it is easy to put on and take off for storage. For the price this is a very good piece of equipment and really eases approaches.

What I needed
by David from Reedsport OR USA

Review: I have been looking for something like this for years, I had something similar to this back in the 70's when i started flying and lost it, that or someone thought they needed it more than me. This yoke clip is fantastic, it is simple to use and carry with you and it holds my approach charts firmly in front where they are easy to read.

Pros: Works fine; holds the plates well
Cons: Sharp edged aluminum that needs filing to prevent injury
