good enough
by A Customer from AR USA

Pros: sound reduction and comfortable, and the extra plugs
Cons: limited size and microphone boom mobility
Review: For the price this headset is good enough at what it does.I find the sound quality to be good and it quiets enough of the noise I wanted to listen to my mp3 player and it does that fine. I don't use the phone jack so I can't comment on that. However, the headset/headband doesn't expand very much and is BARELY big enough. I also dislike the microphone boom. it doesn't swivel/pivot up and down so its difficult to move out of the way or store away.

great with one caveat
by FHG from New York NY

Pros: good sound and noise suppressing. Folds up nice with a case
Cons: I don't like the foam ear pads. They compress down and begin to hurt.
Review: I have been using this headset for a few years now and overall it has met all my expectations flying a GIV.
I rate it highly on clarity and initial comfort.
My only issue is they do not make gel earpads for it.
The foam pads compress down over a period of time and it begins to hurt my ears. I have replaced the pads twice already once under warranty and again for a $50 crack. I am fed up with that aspect as they are starting to bother me again. I am replacing this headset with one with gel earpads....too bad as I like this unit except for that aspect.

Superb bang for the buck!!!
by Ryan from Mason City IA USA

Pros: Value, comfort, American company
Cons: Assembled in Mexico (not in CHINA at least)
Review:

I've had two 25XT headsets for five years, and just bought a 3rd set for rear passengers. I fly a C172, and they do a tremendous job of blocking out sounds other than intercom/radio sounds. I'm not vastly experienced with other brands of headsets, but they beat the heck out of the Dave Clarks I've used in both sound and comfort. Personally, I don't see a need for active noise reduction in my application.

Comfort is a plus too; the ear cushions are made of memory foam and a very soft leather/vinyl-like material. I try not to wear a ball cap when using the headsets, as it tends to make the top metal cap button uncomfortable after 45-60 minutes or so. Same thing with sunglasses that aren't designed to hug my head/ears (Oakleys). With proper glasses though, I can wear them comfortably for at least 4 hours.

The plug-ins for phone and music work fine. Yes, bluetooth would be nice, but not truly necessary for me.

I had to buy new ear cushions at the 5 year mark - the cushions in both headsets I had wore out at the exact same time. They came apart at the seams in the fabric, although the memory foam was 100% intact. I have had zero problems with the headsets otherwise in 5 1/2 years of service, and that's a big reason why I bought another set.

I'm extremely pleased with the product and the value, and will likely buy a 4th set if I ever need one.

Good Quality & Great Sound
by hookedonflying from Haverford, PA

Review: Pros:
- Overall quality
- Sound quality (excellent)
- Volume knobs for left and right ear cup. Each ear cup can be set to it's own volume
- Color
- Comfort
- Adjustable tension for headband (easy to change)
- Thick electrical cable that connects to aircraft's sound system
- Carrying case

CONS:
- Overall large profile; earphones stick out considerably more than Bose or Lightspeed headsets

I gave it a 4 simply because of the overall large profile. It would be nice if they could slim down the design a bit without sacrificing any of it's performance or features.

Good Product, Good value
by Timothy from Gettysburg PA USA

Pros: The mike boom is in a good location. Doesn't block side vision.
Cons: No real issues
Review: I was looking for a mid range priced headset that was both comfortable and functioned well. For me the Telex 25XT has delivered on both parts of my search. I had planned on using this headset for my passengers but will continue to use for myself.

Pros: Comfortable to wear, very clear, good looking product
Cons: None at this point
Review: Very clear for such a low cost headset. Is comfortable to wear and fits snugly without pinching. I've never owned an expensive headset but can't imagine a need to consider one after using the Telex Echelon 25XT

by Bill from Vaiden Field, Marion AL USA
Pros: Rugged, Good sound attenuation, good price for value.
Cons: A little heavy, but good enough for primary flight training (most flights under 2 hours).
Review: Purchased for primary flight students. For that purpose, it is rugged, comfortable, and as quiet as passive systems get.

A nice alternative.
by Samuel from Hellertown, PA

Pros: Price, good alternative to David Clark, solid construction
Cons: None
Review: This is my first headset, so my frame of reference is 'the cheapo rental headsets' at my aviation school and the really nice David Clark one I've been able to borrow from my CFI on occasion. The comparable David Clark is $30 more and doesn't have a couple of the extra features (like the cell phone adapter) but I haven't actually used those features so can't really review them. But as a general purpose headset, the 25XT gets the job done. It's comfortable and the noise cancellation is great. Volume control on each ear and a good mic are both very helpful.

Comfortable, ok sound, interface does not work with iPhone.

Cons: Sound not as crisp, need adapter for iPhone
Review: Comfortable set. Thought sound would be crisper. Expected mobile phone interface to work with my iPhone but will need to buy adapter from radio shack.

Works great in a Gulfstream!
by A Customer from White Plains NY USA

Pros: great bang for the buck. I would buy this again.
Cons: I have none. It was just what I was looking for.
Review: Headset works well, just as advertised. It has an excellent seal and noise suppressing capabilities while being very light and comfortable. Mic qualities are also superb. It is a bit bulky, but that is to be expected from a headset of this type.

May not look hip, but it's an amazing headset
by Vanessa from Salt Lake City UT USA

Pros: Can hardly hear any prop noise, extremely comfortable.
Cons: On long trips, you can feel the squeeze but it passes. This, headset, from what I hear doesn't have nearly the clamp as other sets.
Review: This headset may look like a kid built it (not the hippest design out there), but it sure works! The other day, I took off my headset in flight and couldn't believe how loud my GA plane is, that's because this headset nearly makes you deaf in the cockpit (a great thing) because all you hear is the clear clear voices of the tower/pilots. As a new pilot, I don't want to dink around with all the ANR gadgets nor spend the money. This headset makes communication clear and concise, and the padding around the ears makes it amazingly comfortable.

Meets my needs
by Bill from Wisconsin Rapids WI USA

Pros: Price, effective passive noise attentuation, cell phone connection
Cons: Just a little heavier than I would like
Review: Due to a health issue (a persistent head cold), I've only been able to use this headset for one trip so far. However, that one trip was a pretty good test, and I must say I am very pleased. For several reasons, I didn't want an ANR headset, so, after carefully researching the other options, I chose this one. What sold me on it was a good combination of price and features. Especially handy for someone like me, who must fairly often pick up a clearance by phone, was the easy-to-use cell phone connection. It works great and is a huge improvement over having to take off a headset to use the phone while the engine is running in the run-up pad.

I really like my new Echelon 25XT
by Steve McLaughlin from Odessa, TX

Pros: All good, I believe it is worth the price.
Cons: None, unless you want ANR features.
Review: Very happy with my purchase. Didn't know if I needed an ANR, but this passive fills the bill. Relatively no frills, but includes music and phone cords. Like the look, feel, comfort. Flew for 1.7 hours, never gave a second thought to the headset, until I pulled lean to shut down. Probably will order another one for my passengers soon. (C-172)

Don't overlook this one!
by Nato Potatoe from Grand Rapids, MI

Pros: Sound is great. Comfort is awesome. Great Value
Cons: wide earphones. should have lower profile volume control knobs. Asthetics could be better. It looks kind of cheap.
Review: I bought this set and a DC H10-13.4. I figured I could try them both and keep the best. I tried both on for extended periods. The 25xt was more comfortable. The 25xt adjusted quickly and stayed where I put it. The earcups and headband were very comfortable. The boom mic is mounted on the bottom of the ear speaker so it stays out of your periferal vision and is not distracting. Probably don't really need individual volume control for each ear. I haven't used the additional inputs yet. Definately recommend to anyone.
