Fisher Zero Gravity Space Pen

How many times have you reached into your flight bag or kneeboard during a flight only to find the ink has dried or the pen no longer working?  This happens even more frequently the higher altitudes that you fly.  The Fisher Space Pen is your solution to always having a working writing instrument during flight and on the ground.

Unlike ordinary ball pens which rely on gravity to feed ink, the replaceable Space Pen cartridge is pressurized. At nearly 35 pounds per square inch, ink is continuously fed to the tungsten carbide ball, allowing the user to write at any angle, even upside down. This advanced technology required Fisher Space Pen Co to develop a new and special ink.

And they did. The new visco-elastic, thixotropic ink, with a consistency similar to that of very thick rubber cement, flows as a result of the shearing action of the rolling ball in its socket. This shearing action liquefies the solid gel thixotropic ink, allowing the pen to write smoothly and dependably on the most surfaces and even underwater.

Evaporation, wasted ink and back leakage are eliminated. The estimated shelf-life of these pens is over 100 years.

  • Writes from -30º to 250º F
  • Writes at any altitude
  • Writes on Wet Surfaces
  • Writes on Photographs
  • Writes Underwater
  • Writes at any angle

This retractable Zero Gravity Space Pen features a rubberized, cushioned barrel and grip. Gift boxed. Includes Fisher PR4, black ink, medium point.

My favorite pen
by Jeff from Santa Rosa CA USA

Review: REALLY like this pen! Best feature for me is that it writes upside-down. I do most of my writing in bed so this is perfect for me. Also, the black ink is nice & dark & even with my low vision it's easy to read--Another plus!

Review: I first purchased a Fisher Space-Tec Retractable Space Pen. I was impressed, but I wanted a more hefty ink pen for filling logs at work. So I ordered the Fisher Zero Gravity Space Pen in Silver. I really think it's the coolest pen I've ever owned. Also I wouldn't hesitate recommending people to MyPilotStore.com. The buying process was easy and shipping was FAST.

Works well in many conditions
by Stephanie from Northwestern US

Pros: Writes well in all conditions.
Cons: Are there any?
Review: I work in and around aircraft, in all weather conditions, and orientations, taking notes about the aircraft I am inspecting. This pen never misses a beat. The easy click on/click off can be operated with a single hand. It doesn't seem to be affected by wet paper, which is nice for working in the northwest where rain is the norm. It still looks interesting enough to catch peoples' eyes during meetings. It met my expectations and then some.

Previous Customer Questions For Fisher Zero Gravity Space Pen:
Ask Your Own Question
On Wednesday, October 21, 2009 a customer asked:
Q:
1. color of ink in model 4560? 2. length of pen - same model
A: The ink is black and the length of the pen is 5.5"

On Sunday, December 14, 2008 a customer asked:
Q:
how was the space pen originally used on space ????
A:

In 1968 Fisher Space pens were first used on Apollo 7 after two years of testing by NASA.

The space race was on, and the astronauts involved in the Mercury and Gemini missions had been using pencils to take notes in space since standard ball points did not work in zero gravity. The Fisher cartridge did work in the weightlessness of outer space and the astronauts, beginning with the October, 1968 Apollo 7 mission began using the Fisher AG-7 Space Pen and cartridge developed in 1966.
