A great, simple to use, portable device for taking the guesswork out of wind measurement. Perfect for pre-flight wind checks!

The cup eliminates the cumbersome need of orienting the device since the measurements are obtained regardless of wind direction. This allows you to quickly retrieve accurate wind readings at any time.

The large LCD display shows the following readings:

Current wind speed
Max. wind speed (MX)
Average wind speed (AV)
Bar graph of current Beaufort values

One touch access allows you to quickly display any of the following units:

KM/H (Kilometers/Hours)
KTS (Knots)
M/S (Meter/Second)
MPH (Miles/Hour)

An integrated tripod thread allows you to make temporary stationary use of Windtronic 2.

A combination of precision mechanics and quartz-controlled electronics guarantees the highest level of accuracy over the entire temperature range.

A standard lithium battery (included) will supply your wind meter with power for approximately 10 years. After that time, you can simply replace the battery yourself. Windtronic 2 carrying case sold separate.

Good product

Pros: Simple interface, accurate wind measurement, 4 display units and current, max, avg measurement
Cons: No case comes standard, could be smaller.
Review: Good product for measuring wind, gives accurate wind speed without the hassle of finding the perfect direction. Nice simple UI with big buttons for easy use with gloves. Loses 1/2 point for being a bit bulky, (it's small but could be smaller), and 1/2 point for no case with it.

works well, I wonder if it's accurate??

Cons: I'm not certain how accurate it is
Review: I've previously used a Kestrel 2500 wind gauge, and been fairly happy with it. However, since it uses a spinning wheel, it's only accurate if it's pointed directly into the wind, which can sometimes be hard to judge. So, I looked around for a spinning-cup alternative, which doesn't worry about pointing. I selected the Windtronic 2 over several others, mainly because I carry the gauges around in a backpack, so I like the sheltered cups which are protected from banging against all the other stuff that I carry. In that respect, it works perfectly - but I worry that the tight screen might interfere with airflow and corrupt the readings. I also like the handy size of the unit, which is very convenient and easy to use. My only concern is that it appears to read significantly higher than the Kestrel in side-by-side tests... is that because the Kestrel is hard to aim?? Or is the Windtronic over-reporting wind speeds?? I don't know how to answer those questions. I need to find some way to calibrate the meters... However, it is a handy and durable unit, at a very reasonable price. I recommend it.
