excellent training
by A Customer from Santa Fe NM USA

Pros: Much more comprehensive than the Sporty's product and well organized.
Cons: Sometimes moves very quickly through material, but you can go back easily.
Review: It was very helpful for me to go through this training before getting in a G1000 airplane. I liked the interactive quizes (even more interactivity would have been good) and the PFD & MFD popups that explain the functions of buttons and controls. Well worth the investment.

I would not this product again
by Mboyan from Poitiers France

Review: The dvd don't give details on the g1000; no place for the students to create a flight plan; the author speaks too much without giving the student the opportunity to to practice after each lesson.

Good but not Great!
by Ovation3 Flyer from Peoria AZ USA

Pros: Great overview of G1000 both VFR & IFR
Cons: Lack of GFC700 information & Mooney configuration.
Review: Course was worthwhile considering both time spent & money paid. Disappointment for me was lack of info on Mooneys & Garmin GFC700 autopilot linked to G1000. Plenty of references to Cessna, Diamond & Bendix/King A/P but little on what I fly, Mooney with all Garmin. I have GFC700 linked to my G1000 & Trescott barely mentions it.  If he produces an updated version with instruction aimed at "Garmin with Garmin" & at least some reference to Mooneys, I'd buy it.

I would consider getting further courses from Max Trescott
by PATRICK from LILBURN GA USA

Pros: Info is presented well. The tests and interactive sections are great.
Cons: Student needs to be computer savy to start-download course.
Review: Received course quickly. We had some computer issues with the downloading and opening course. The "install-start" instructions could be revised. All folks are not as computer savy as some.
I have flown (Approx 90 hrs) as PIC in a G-1000 aircraft. The info is helpful. The G-1000 system allows the operator to "skin that cat" in many ways. This course shows the student to have basic knowledge of the system and its operation.

Very informative but could do with more interactive tutorials
by Paul from Brisbane QLD Australia

Pros: Works well on a standard PC without the need for a graphics card upgrade, but you will need either two monitors or a wide screen to get the full benefit.
Cons: Controls are sometimes hard to manipulate and the tutorials too long
Review: I found it to be too long in each stage of expanation & a little hard to listen to all the tutes before using the controls myself because the tutes are soo long and the male narrators voice is quite monotone. I was really looking for more specific interactive exercises to help refine my skills with the glass cockpit and be more confident with using some of the less utilised functions in general nav flying. But overall i gained a whole lot more than i could have without the tutes.

G1000 too much whiz and not enough bang
by A Customer from Catonsville MD USA

Pros: A lot of material
Cons: Boring
Review: I only listen to one CD because I found it boring. I needed a step by step on how to do each procedure. I have the sim and it is very good but no instruction. So far I still have little or no instruction on how do each task. It is a "block" of boring instruction. I will go back to it I might be wrong. Can you recommend something else?

Outstanding product!!!
by Daniel from Longwood FL USA

Pros: Great overview, thorough detail, easy to use.
Cons: Using a 5-yr-old laptop, the 'voice' often outpaced the 'video'
Review: The CD, combined with the book, allowed me to fly the G1000 with little difficulty. Max Trescott's course material is exceedingly thorough....so much so that I was actually teaching my CFII's about G1000 features that they did not fully understand. Note: Make sure your computer's RAM and processor equals or exceeds the requirements for this program and you'll have the same excellent training experience that encountered.

Disappointed
by A Customer from Mars

Review: Max's voice is way too soft and monotone, making it difficult to follow along. I was expecting the program to be more interactive and was very disappointed. There was only one little section on tuning radios that was interactive, the rest was just listening...zzzzzzzzz

OK, but not very interactive
by A Customer from Bella Vista AR USA

Pros: Comprehensive
Cons: Lack of interactivity
Review: This is a decent program for learning the basics of the G1000 system. However, it could use more interactivity. Also, the narrator tends to speak for long periods without relevant visual material being displayed on the screen. Additionally, the G1000 system has changed, making some of the course material out of date.

A must-have for G-1000 pilots!!
by Marc Doss from Olive Branch, MS (OLV)

Pros: Very thorough. The interactive
Cons: Needs some video, not just still photos. Needs more of the interactive
Review: One of the best $99 purchases I've made!! There's no telling how much money this software saved me.

I bought this before going through the official Cessna-approved G-1000 check-out program. The check-out went quickly because I was so prepared. I could even info that the instructor couldn't find!!

Pros: A backup to the book, but not a replacement
Cons: CD had less content, was a little unsophisticated as a software product
Review: Max Trescott’s Garmin G1000 "book" is priceless. It is well written and easy to read. I refer to the book constantly. However, the CD version of the book was a little disappointing. In my opinion the CD version contained less content, was a little unsophisticated as a software product and I simply never use it as a reference.

Is this software compatible with Microsoft Vista?
A: Yes, this software is compatible with Windows Vista.

On Monday, November 19, 2007 a customer asked:
Q:
How well do you cover the KAP 140 autopilot in your course. Also the Garmin integrated autopilot. I am taking a checkride in a C-182T NAV III and I need to know the A/P well. After I purchase your course, and go through it, will I have to still buy a separate course on the KAP 140 autopilot to explain it to me fully?
A: Both the KAP 140 and early versions of the Garmin integrated autopilot, used in Beechcraft and Columbia, are covered thoroughly. The 2007 Cessna 182 and 206 have a new version of the integrated autopilot that adds one new key, a VNV key for vertical navigation, that is not covered in the software.
