Looks great and feels great

Review: This jacket was a Christmas gift from my girlfriend. The jacket is stiff out of the box and takes time to break-in, including the brass zipper. The leather is still a little stiff a month & half later but feeling softer each time I wear it. The zipper works well with bee's wax lubrication. Sizing is about where it should be. The extra large is a little large across the shoulders but the length and chest fit is correct. I am a little concerned about the cuffs & waist band. I hope they will hold their fit & not stretch out. Time will tell.

Review: The jacket is first rate and I'm very pleased. I had another A-2 about 20 years ago that went to an old girl friend and I believe it had some snaps on the front as well as the zipper. As I like to wear the jacket while I ride my motorcycle, the snaps would be a welcomed addition to this classic article and would help keep the flap (which could be just a bit wider as well) closed against the wind. Besides that, I'm getting complements all the time.

Review: This is a very well made leather jacket. The lining is fun and my husband says it is very warm. I think the knit cuffs and waistband could be a little more substantial and the zipper is nice but a little difficult to zip. Also would have liked a little snap at the bottom of the zipper flap. Also want to mention that when my package arrived I pulled up to the house and saw it sitting on my doorstep and this box was out in the rain and was taped with one little piece of tape and the box was open so not a good packaging guys for a jacket of this price thank goodness you also thought to put it in a plastic bag.

Review: I have been wearing this jacket for about 2 months(Nov. & Dec.) & I'm very pleased w/the quality. I live in north central IL & winters are typically cold. The jacket breaks the wind very well & with a fleece vest under it it keeps me fairly warm.
I was right between a large and a medium size so I decided to go w/the large size so I could put a vest under it. It's plenty big enough for me. If I need to I can switch from fleece to a down vest.

Review: This is my second antique lambskin A-2 leather jacket; the first was purchased directly from the Cockpit store in NYC. When my new jacket arrrived it was wrapped in a single plastic bag and a cardboard shipping box. The UPS driver left in on my front step in a rain storm. When I opened the soggy box, water had leaked into the plastic bag, wetting the leather jacket. I hung the jacket to dry overnight and decided to keep it, as they tend to become distressed with time anyway. This is an excellent jacket, but I would recommend better packaging for shippment.

Review: Every pilot should buy this jacket. It's a bit on the pricey side but absolutely worth it. After reading the reviews I was worried it might be too hot once its zipped up but its not that bad at all. Well at least here in the pacific northwest (50-60s). The leather takes a few days of wearing to soften up but till then it may be a bit stiff and uncomfortable. Can't beat the looks and its obvious you are making a point when you wear this into Starbucks on your way to the airport.

A Bit Disappointed

Review: I bought this jacket back in the 90's when the company still went by the name of Avirex. I bought this one because the inside of the earlier one is mostly in tatters. Because of the earlier purchase, however, I have something to compare this one to. Therefore, I might be a bit harsh. The workmanship doesn't appear to be as good on the newer jacket. The texture of the lambskin is more slick, the zipper is hard to get started and then snags halfway up, and the earlier version featured protective plastic coverings on the pin-up (who was cuter before) and the Italian lira. Those nice little touches made the jacket a little more fun to put on.

Review: The quality of the jacket is nice. I bought a Large (normally I wear a 42L). This jacket has a ton of room and is not tight at all. The shoulders hang over but that makes the sleeves long enough. It is well insulated and is not a cool day jacket. It is a cold day jacket. I find it is bulky and hard to wear in my car. I wear it outside when I know it is going to be cold. I think a medium might have been a better fit. Since the jacket is so warm, I didn't wear it to really get a feel for the fit until the weather turned cold and past the date I could exchange it.

Review: Unlike most other reviewers, I've been somewhat disappointed in this jacket. It was purchased to replace basically the same jacket I purchased about 15 years ago. At the time, Cockpit went by the name Avirex. As a result I have something to compare the new one to. The new one seems "cheaper"--for want of a better word. The zipper is reluctant to start and always snags half-way up. In the earlier version, the grain on the outside was little more pronounced, the pockets on the inside were larger and lower for easier access (getting my wallet in and out of this one is a nuisance!), and the little extras like the pin-up (which was much cuter in the earlier version) and the Italian lira were both protected by a plastic cover. I know that's a little thing, but the reason I bought this newer version is because the inside of my original jacket is mostly in tatters now. So, the little extras here will eventually be torn and fall off.

Review: I was a little nervous buying this coat sight unseen with a cost of a little over $400 but it surpassed my expectations. It was beautiful. I took it from the box and it blew me away how nice it was. I read some of the reviews before I bought this item and some of the negatives people wrote I found none of this to be true. I cannot say how the coat will wear as the years go by but judging by the looks and quality I can't help but think it will outlast me. Glad I ordered a larger size. I'm 6'3" and weigh 250 with long arms and the 2XL Tall fit great. So far I couldn't be happier.

Review: I couldn't believe the fit was as perfect as it could possibly be. Just feeling the weight taking it out of the box told me my search of two years for this jacket was well worth the wait. Good thing I lift weights because the quality of the zipper requires a little muscle unlike the cheap hardware on what "we think" are good quality jackets.
The lining alone draws interest and comments. I find myself draping it over a chair sometimes and just staring at it. This jacket is nothing but CLASS from every angle. It's a reminder of the quality in clothing this country once took pride in. The only thing I'm disappointed in is that I got it too late in the year because I want to wear it every day and the weather is getting warmer. It's the nicest piece of clothing I've ever purchased for myself in a long, long time.

Review: Jacket is truly superior quality. I've been looking for YEARS to find a replacement of one I had years back and this is it. Lambskin leather is of top quality - soft/durable. Lining pleasantly warmer than I had expected. Jacket is VERY roomy; don't think you need to "size-up" to fit layers underneath. Only potential negative is that for a large, I was surprised at the sleeve length - I wear a 17x34 dress shirt and the sleeves are a bit long for me - but not unreasonably so. Although I appreciate the flags/military Service logos on the inside the nose art seemed a bit over the top for me but a whimsical/nostalgic blast from the past.

Review: I was looking for a jacket that fit me like a flight jacket should. Not baggy or hanging on me like a bad date. I read all the reviews and at the end I was more confused than ever. I decided to email Mypilotstore for their opinion since they must get these kind of questions all the time. I told them I was 6' 4" with arms like an orangutan. I gave them my waist size of 38 and my jacket size of 46. They emailed me back and told me I should go with XL or if I like wearing my jackets a little loose then a 2XL. So I ordered a XL and waited for it to arrive. All the time I was worried my UPS drive would make off with my jacket.
It arrived quickly and I carefully open the box not wanting to scar it with my knife. It laid there beautifully wrapped in a clear plastic cover gently folded over once. The leather was shiny and had a new smell to it. I buried my nose into it and inhaled it's scent while all the time screaming like a kid who just got lucky on prom night. Then I reached into the box and immediately went to try it on. Arrrggg! Did they think I was covering the Good Year blimp with my jacket? The arm length was fine but clearly this jacket would have fit the most studliest Sumo wrestler.
I called Mypilotstore and got a RA number to return the jacket for a smaller size. That was hassle free and they sent out a L right away. The large fits perfect and I can't wait to walk down Hollywood Blvd on a Friday night wearing this jacket. One thing though, this is LA and I am not stupid enough to wear a fine jacket like this on the streets of LA at night!

I do recommend calling the company to get size advice as I would have ordered the wrong size if I based it on my husband's shirt measurements of 16 neck/32-33 sleeve length. Review: This jacket is well constructed and fits very comfortably. The sizing information was "right on" for my size. It looks great, and I've had complements every time I've gone out in it. It is truely a jacket for all seasons. I've worn it in cold weather and fairly mild weather, and it has been comfortable in each case. The one suggestion I have is to remove the curled hanging loop from the neck and replace it with a straight leather strap like the one on the cotton A-2 jacket. The loop rubs the back of my neck and is somewhat bothersome. Otherwise, I'd consider it perfect!!

Review: Really --- it was perfect for a myriad of reasons. Mom and Dad were married in 1943. Dad was in the Army Air Corp. Listening to his stories as a boy growing up were memorable including a B-24 crash he survived in Boise, Idaho. He is very patriotic and member of numerous related organizations. Since he is 6'2" I was afraid he would need a "Tall" which would have required back order. But the sales representative assured me that the Regular would work fine. And it did as the jacket is a totally perfect fit. The only problem was what to get Mom for an equivalent Christmas present for 2009. I decided to buy her a nice quilt and matching pillows and the like. It was the best thing I could think of for an extra special present. But nothing compares with the pride I felt to help Dad try that jacket on in Anderson, South Carolina, when I arrived from Los Angeles to celebrate Christmas at home on 12/26/2009. Review: I've already reviewed this product, but since the MyPilot Store asked me (last time I did it on my own), I'll rave about the jacket again. The jacket looks simply fabulous on me (that may have as much to do with my looks as the jacket - kidding), it's beautifully made, stylish, timeless, comfortable and georgous to behold even on the hanger in the closet. And I simply love the look and feel of the lining. This is the best leather jacket I've ever purchased. The sales rep I spoke with on the phone when I placed the order helped me determing which size to order. Evidently he and I are roughly the same size, so his recommendation of XL for my 6' 220 pound frame was spot on. Thanks again. The jacket is quite roomy - exactly the way I like it.

Review: A review? Yeah, I'll write a review. It's a great look and a good feel. They said it would be roomy, but there's more space inside than my apartment. I stand a little over six feet, weigh about 192 pounds with a 36 inch waist. I wear a 46 sport coat so I bought the extra large as recommended, and while snug across my shoulders, there's a lot of space inside. I can wear a heavy cable knit, Irish sweater and a leather sport coat underneath without stretching the jacket. Okay, I admit it, when I added woolen long underwear it started to look like it fit. But I'm giving it five stars, because My Pilot is selling more than a jacket, they're selling a dream. For those of us who are still fighting the second World War, or wish we could have, this boosts the image like no other jacket could. I have to go now. My plane was shot down a few days ago, and I was the only one who got out. It's been raining here, and I'm trying to get home. Right now I'm crawling through the mud in some farmer's freshly furrowed field. Intelligence said there's a Nazi tank unit somewhere in the vicinity. So I've got to be careful. If God is with me, I'll make it back.

Review: I haven't purchased - let alone seen - a decent product made in the USA in at least five years. So I was pleasantly surprised to find this gem on the internet. This jacket is beautifully made and fits me perfectly (I got the XL). I'm 6' 1", weigh 215 and wear a size 38 Levi Jeans (if that helps anyone with sizing questions), and this fits me as if it were tailor made. And let's not overlook the fact that it's as handsome a jacket as the fellow now wearing it... I may even buy a second one because, on those rare occasions when I've found a product this good and it came time to replace it, the company or quality was no longer available. Here's hoping that Cockpit thrives for years to come! Kudos to the fine folks at MyPilotStore.com for providing this product at the best price I've seen. Living in Wisconsin, he needs this jacket most of the year and will thoroughly enjoy it. Plenty of room for fleece under it.

Review: This is a really good quality A-2 leather jacket. It was alitte stiff around the collar at frist, but it broke in after a week. I received the jacket 2 days before christmas, when I ordered it on 12-16. It's getting the worn look real easily since i got it a month ago and wearing it. There's no need to go an extra size I got a 2xl, and can still wear a sweat shirt underneath. Review: Loved this wonderful A-2 Leather Jacket!! My dad, a WWII pilot, is 86 years young and loves the feel, the warmth and the good looks of this A-2. The lining is great with artistic flair that is fun to show off. The weight is heavy but the leather is supple, unlike so many other supposed "genuine" A-2's. Very reasonable price as I saw the identical jacket on other sites/catalogs for $50 to $120 more.

Altogether I do not think I really got my money's worth.
