Okay for the price
by Gary R. from Evergreen CO USA

Pros: Price, comfort
Cons: ANR mildly effective
Review: I used these on a 23 hour trip last month, although my grandson soon appropriated them from me. Mostly I missed the push-to-talk switch that resides on my other SoftComm models. My yoke PTT was unreliable and I had to use the headset button, so I used my old C-10 Chancelors. The ANR has some effect to reduce noise, but it's not nearly as effective as Bose headsets (duh!). Nonetheless, they are good enough to recommend at the current price level.

Disapponted
by Dennis from South Elgin IL USA

Review: "Clunky" arrangement for 9V battery box that wants to disconnect the plug on the end of a stiff wire. Ended up putting it in my shirt pocket.

Clarity of headphones not good.

I will purchase a different headset and return to the factory for check/repair; they can't be this bad!

Great Buy
by Robert from ColleyvilleTXUSA

Pros: Good Performance (powered and unpowered)
Cons: Seperate ANR Module
Review: This set has been great and have performed as well as the other major brands (BOSE, LIGHTSPEED, etc..). The only thing I would change is the ANR unit is a seperate device that needs to be in a shirt pocket or clipped on somewhere else. This of course is small price to pay considering I saved hundreds buying this set over the lightspeed or bose.

Good product for the money
by A Customer from Centennial CO USA

Pros: comfortable
Cons: bulky battery box
Review: The ANR was a good product for the money, not the quality of a 600 dollar headset but the expectation was met for the price

better than I expected
by Daniel from Morganton NC USA

Pros: clear speech recognition and excellent product for the money
Cons: the left side headphone sometimes catches on my shoulder strap
Review: It more than met my expectations. I often forget to turn on the active noise reduction mode because it works so well just in the passive noise reduction mode. After putting it on and beginning flight I totally forget I am wearing the headphones. Speech recognition is very good.

I only use the passive noise reduction.
by A Customer from Albany GA USA

Pros: Good passive noise reduction
Cons: Sometimes ringing noise and sometime no ringing noise.
Review: Loud ringing noise most of the time when I use the ANR.

"Great for the price."
by Kevin from Spring Creek NV USA

Pros: Works well for the price.
Cons: Battery box design is not good.
Review: After reading other reviews we bought the SoftComm C-90 stereo headsets. We purchased 2 sets. They were exactly what we expected. They work well and have good noise attenuation. They may not be as good as others, but the price is right. I do hate the battery box, though. It is a pain to figure out were to put it. We have attached it to the headset between the ear cup and the padding. It looks a little funny, but does not come unplugged that way. It also adds a little weight, but neither one has been a real bother. I would buy them again. Hopefully SoftComm will come up with another place more convenient for the battery!

Meets all my needs and then some.
by Brian from Houston TX USA

Pros: Lots of features for the price. I have a big head and the ear gels and sizing are plenty comfortable.
Cons: Lots of wires for the ANR batteries and the Cell phone interface. Small price to pay though... its not like your walking around.
Review: Very high quality for the very low cost. Enjoy the ANR and feel it does a pretty good job. I would suggest this for anyone looking for a low cost ANR with cell phone interface. The interface has already kept my girlfriend from freaking out and thinking something bad happened, I picked up her phone call and let her know I was just fine. Also had the opportunity to have my friends come outside and see me rock the wings for them. Very cool.

Works fine, battery box is a nuisance.
by Larry Weldon from Titusville, PA

Pros: comfortable fit, good reduction
Cons: seperated corded battery box a nuisance
Review: Headset is comfortable enough and does a decent job with noise reduction, but found the seperate corded battery box a nuisance and it came away from the cord the 2x I used the set - price was good, but I returned them for a LightSpeed 30

Generally good; a few problems.
by A Customer from

Review: the headphones are comfortable and work well but I think the attached battery box is unwieldy and uncomfortable to use. The battery should be in the headphones.

Great Value
by Clint Dufresne from Colorado springs, CO

Pros: Great Value
Cons: Sound quality is not as good as more expensive headsets.
Review: This is a great headset for the price. It performs well and noise reduction is significant. I like the cell phone interface. I would buy this product again.

Previous Customer Questions For SoftComm C-90 ANR Stereo Headset:
Ask Your Own Question
On Friday, June 19, 2009 a customer asked:
Q:
I keep reading about a battery and the case for it. Do you need a battery? What is the deal? Every headset I have owned you just plug in to the comm and go flying.
A: In order to power the ANR (Active Noise Reduction), any ANR headset will need a power source.  This power source usually comes from a battery box, however with some headsets it is also possible to have an avionics shop hard wire the headset to the aircraft electrical system.  If the batteries on an ANR headset are exhausted, the headset just becomes a regular passive noise reduction headset like the ones you've flown with in the past.
