AV COMM AC900HD Headset

The AvComm Silver AC900HD PNR Headset offers more in an improved design. These latest enhancements make the AC900HD PNR the premium choice in the Avcomm headset lineup. Pilots and passengers everywhere are praising the features and benefits, claiming its comfort and performance surpass anything they've used before.

AC900HD Key Features:

  • Advanced PNR audio technology
  • HD High Defination Full Spectrum Stereo response speakers
  • Each ear cup features an independent volume control
  • Electronic mic with active filtering chip for complete noise cancellation
  • Durable polyurethane coated domes with Platinum finish
  • Advanced battery pack with low battery indicator
  • Full flex boom and leather deluxe ear seals
  • Full five-year factory warranty
  • Free headset bag included

The powerful, ultra-lite Neodymium speakers produce a richer, smoother frequency response for both voice and music. The powerful magnetic core and diaphragm provide high sensitivity and optimized response.

The speaker, a thin lightweight 4/10th's of an ounce, reduces headset weight for added comfort. The advanced speaker installation technique enhances audio performance, reduces annoying inner ear cup vibrations and increases noise attenuation. The M65 microphone with ceramic hybrid active filtering chip eliminates up to 75% of unwanted background noise while amplifying desired voice signals. Additionally, the pre-amp circuit is immune to environmental changes, will not corrode, and has a much longer life than conventional PCB based products.

Unique features include a full flex boom which bends and holds any position easily for precise microphone placement. Dual volume controls provide pilots and passengers more control for customizing personal audio preference. A switch built into the cord allows independent volume control in either mono or stereo on either ear dome — a benefit for those with hearing loss. A push-to-talk on the ear dome is a favorite feature for anyone who would appreciate a backup PTT. This addition allows easy and effortless transmission without reaching for the controls. .

Durable copper wire with spiral shielding eliminates RF interference while a polyurethane cover adds abrasion resistance and flexibility. Additional features include: gold plated mic and headphone plugs, high impact ABS ear cups, easy-to-adjust stainless steel headband with easy thumbnut adjustment, deluxe comfort head pad, deluxe gel ear seals, 100% cotton ear covers, acoustic mic muff to protect the new microphone from moisture and wind noise, plus a full five-year factory warranty.

A great headset.
by Joseph from Stanardsville VA USA

Pros: Comfort, price, quality
Cons: None other than others who might prefer to be robbed of $1,000
Review: This is a great headset. It's comfortable, not very expensive, well made. My voice back through the headset sounds clear & crisp, although slightly "electronic" sounding, if that is the right word to use. But that is nit picking since I am accustomed to listening to voices through professional recording equipment. A definite find. I would buy again.

by Kenneth from Tucson AZ USA

Pros: comfortable, easy to use, PTT on headset, noise reduction
Cons: Get warm quick, but then Again I fly in 100+ degree weather
Review: While I will admit that my experience with other headsets is quite limited as I am a student pilot, I am very happy with these. A recommendation from a long time pilot led me to this purchase, and I have been very happy. The only issue I have is one I think I would have with any headset. I live in Arizona, it is quite warm here, the gel ear pieces are very comfortable but after about 20 minutes become warm. Sometimes after a flight there is some sweat that has occured. I have seen some cloth pieces on other headseats and think this may help. I would with out hesitation recommend this head seat to an individual that is just starting his/her training like me. The lower cost and performance of this headset is supurb for my needs.

Review: The headset itself is very good. Extremely comfortable for me even on the long flights. It should definitely be availabe with the flex cord though. I almost rip my head off every time I have to move away from my station in a hurry. Good sound, good controls on both sides. A very good product for the money.

Outstanding Headset
by Ben from Lincoln, NE

Pros: comfortable, lots of features, reliable,
Cons: none!
Review: This headset exceeded my expectations. It is extremely comfortable, and it comes with deluxe cotton ear covers which i didn't think i would use or like, but they are wonderful. They make the headset even more comfortable and if you sweat during flight it won't slide around with the cotton ear covers on. It has a built in PTT, so if yours is malfunctioning or you don't have one on your side, it is great. I can't find anything it lacks. It reduces the noise very much. It is an extremely great headset at a very good price.

Very comfortable, Good value.
by Pat from Jacksonville, FL

Pros: Very, very comfortable, and who really needs active noise reduction?
Cons: I guess if you want a status-symbol, this is not for you.
Review: This is really top of the line without getting fancy and gaudy. I would think twice before I bought a more expensive pair. The flex boom will stay where you put it--no need to tighten any screws. The gel ear seals are amazingly comfortable, especially with the cloth covers that were included with mine (I think they are included with all). Don't listen to that one bad review--that guy obviously didn't have his radios set up correctly and blamed this nice headset. 5 year warranty is good.

Great Bang for the Buck
by Rich from Port Angeles WA USA

Pros: Comfort, Headband adjustment, Price
Cons: none yet
Review: This replaced my HS-1 and is a great upgrade. It is very comfortable and I am able to wear it for longer periods without fatigue. Mine came with an additional, shorter headband to accommodate smaller heads which was not advertised. The NRR is very good. The flex boom is easer to position than the wire boom. Overall quality seems very good.

Great Buy!!!
by Wayne from Odessa TX USA

Review: For the money, this is a great headset. I have some hearing loss in my right ear and any background noise really distorts sound. This set works great and the sounds come across clearly. It is also very comfortable.

Excellent Headsets. I recommend to every pilot.
by Emanuel from Deland FL USA

Review: I loved them. Those are the best headset that I bought in my life. They are very comfortable, and excellent audio system and the integrate push button is an advantage because the pilot doesn't need to put their hands in the yoke to talk. I loved I recommend to every pilot, especially student pilot.

1000 hrs and still going strong..!!
by Kelly from Mississippi

Pros: They work like a champ, wear well on long trips, PTT is nice when instructing, best bang for buck.
Cons: Started flying a Baron and they don't cut the noise enough so i'm moving up to the AvComm ANR950.
Review: Best "first" headsets for the price and features. And now with the ANR950 there is an option to the high priced Bose.

Not impressed at all
by Donald Mustachio from Pa

Review: I was mildly put off by the fact that the wire lead cords are less flexible than most others but they became entirely useless to me when both Unicomm and other pilots reported that my transmissions were so weak as to be barely audible; this while the mike was pressed against my lips.
Reception is fine.

by A Customer from SAN JOSE CA
Review: This is my first headset. I used it in flight and it performed very well. All communications were very clear. Mine came with some extra schwag in the box, like gel ear pads and a mic cover. That was a nice bonus. The Stereo option is cool. I practice my flight simulator wearing this and can get a much better sense of conditions via the stereophonic feedback. My sun glasses are uncomfortable to wear with the headset. I believe that would be the case with with any headset, so make sure to buy thin wire frame glasses for comfort.

Previous Customer Questions For AV COMM AC900HD Headset:
Ask Your Own Question
On Thursday, March 12, 2009 a customer asked:
I already own a AC900 set and am planning to buy another. The set I have has cloth covers over the gel seals and a cloth mic cover. did that come with the headset, I forget, or did i buy that separate?
A: This headset comes with cloth ear cushion covers and a mic cover.

On Tuesday, March 18, 2008 a customer asked:
Can we use it as a talk always or do you have to push-to-talk?
A: The built-in PTT switch is a backup PTT or for use if your intercom does not already have a PTT.  In the cockpit you should be able to talk to other passengers without having to use the PTT.  It would only be used when transmitting outside the aircraft.

On Wednesday, October 31, 2007 a customer asked:
Sirs: I am interesting to find out if the AV COMM AC900 Headset can be used for flying a Helicopter? my son is presently training as a fixed wing Pilot and he will be doing some lesson with the helicopter is this headset good to go for him. your urgent response is needed as i am going to purchase the product in two days. thanks
A: The AC-900 can be used in a helicopter if you also purchase the Fixed Wing to to Helicopter Adapter. Or, you might also consider the AV COMM AC747 Headset which converts from general aviation to helicopter use (both cables included).
