The Student Pilot's Flight Manual

This is the authoritative volume from Bill Kershner, the first in The Flight Manuals Series. Presents a wealth of practical information while encouraging decision making by students. The fundamentals of flying are clearly described in a step-by-step, informal manner that a student can easily understand. Includes detailed references to maneuvers and procedures, and is fully illustrated with the author's own drawings. This book is also intended as a reference for the Flight Review for private pilots with a single-engine, land airplane rating.

Organized in the same order a Student Pilot will progress through the flight training curriculum, the book covers all you need to know and be able to do before the flight, presolo, the postsolo maneuvers, cross-country and night flying. It is a gathering of material used in preflight and postflight briefings and in-flight instruction provided by one of the greatest flight instructors of our time. It also includes a synopsis of what to expect for your FAA Knowledge Exam and checkride. This book is not intended to just help you "get past" the knowledge exam and checkride, but includes the information for use in the day-to-day process of learning to fly airplanes.

A completely integrated 98-page syllabus provides the instructional format for flight instructors and student pilots using both The Student Pilot's Flight Manual and The Flight Instructor's Manual. It serves as a guide for teaching ground and flight instruction as well as a checklist of student accomplishments from the first flight through the private pilot knowledge and practical tests.

The Ninth Edition is fully revised and updated. Includes an appendix on engines and other systems along with seven color maps.

Softcover, illustrated, 8" x 11", 440 pages.

"Since I first began taking flying lessons, I have used William Kershner's wonderful Flight Manuals - from his "Student Pilot's Flight Manual" to his "Flight Instructor's Manual." I love the way Mr. Kershner makes fun and interesting reading of sometimes-dry subjects. His books are easy and fun to read and filled with all of the best information! I continue to recommend his books to anyone learning to fly, and have bought quite of few of them over the years to give to aspiring pilots. I cannot think of any other books on aviation that I would recommend more highly than William Kershner's Flight Manuals." —Patty Wagstaff, 2004 Inductee, National Aviation Hall of Fame

Great Read
by Tommy from Lexington NC USA

Pros: Easy to read.
Cons: Some items, such as VOR's need more detail, but that might be a good thing.
Review: Very good information in the book. Explainations were concise and clear, which made it easy to read without being confusing. A good thing for a beginning student.
