Headset adapter works will

  • By Jackson the Aeronca Chief pilot from Leesburg VA USA on Tuesday, September 13, 2016
  • Pros: works perfectly
  • Review: I acquired an iCom transceiver wired into my newly acquired Aeronca Chief. This adapter allows me us use the transceiver outside the airplane in handheld fashion.

Good excepr for one thing.

  • By James from South San Francisco CA USA on Sunday, December 13, 2015
  • Pros:
  • Review: Works good and as expected.   Only complaint is that when plugged into radio cords go upwards instead of downwards which would be more prefered.

A helpful addition on the airfield

  • By Tim from Columbus OH USA on Monday, December 07, 2015
  • Pros: Cut extraneous noise, improves productivity
  • Review: Our project took us on the airfield where we knew it would be tough to hear communications from our transceiver. With this adapter, I was able to hear all aircraft communications and make our requests clearly to ground control with my existing Dave Clark headset.

High price for what it is.

  • By RV3 Ghost Rider from White Heath IL USA on Monday, November 09, 2015
  • Pros: functions as designed
  • Review: My pilot store as this product listed cheapest for 2015 in comparison to everybody else online, you can't beat the deal.

$40 seems a bit high priced for Icom adapter cord, especially considering that it's not made heavy duty and not well-suited for a cockpit environment Where cords are yanked it pulled on every flight.

Having said that there are absolutely no problems with the cord it functions as designed.

Shipping was prompt checkout was easy.

In summary nothing wrong with the cord works just fine shipping was fast but I give it three stars I just think the cord could provide better stress and strain relief and wire could actually be a little bit heavier duty Considering spending $40.

  • Thursday, January 07, 2016

Q: Will this work with a marv golden headset to an icom a4?

A: No, to connect a fixed wing, dual plug, headset to an Icom IC-A4 you would need the Headset Adapter for Icom IC-A4.

  • Monday, October 27, 2014

Q: Hi there, I have this ICOM VHF Band Transceiver IC-A6E handheld radio with headset adapter. I need to buy the headset, what is the most suitable brand for the headset?

  • Wednesday, May 28, 2014

Q: What adapter will connect my ICOM IC-A14 to my Bose A20 headset?

A: Yes, as long as your Bose A20 is the Fixed Wing (Dual Plug) version this adapter will work.

  • Thursday, February 02, 2012

Q: will this adaptor work on the A23 model transciever?

A: No, this adapter will not work.  For the IC-A23 transceiver you would want to get the Headset adapter for Icom IC-A5 / IC-A23 instead.

  • Monday, October 24, 2011

Q: If no PTT is connected to the adapter, does the PTT on the radio still work?

A: Yes, you will be able to use the PTT on the IC-A24 when connected to a headset.

  • Monday, July 25, 2011

Q: I have a Icom IC-A21 hand held transceiver. I need the adapter as well as 'push to talk' What model do I need?

Q: Dear Sir, Great Store....Is the Headset Adapter compatable with helicopter "single plug" headsets?? As we know GA headsets have the two plugs. I look forward to your reply.

A: We can special order a helicopter version of this headset adapter and it will have a single U-174/U plug instead of the dual plugs in a fixed wing aircraft.  However, the price is considerably more expensive ($82.00) and it will generally ship in just two to three days.  You can order this by calling 1-877-314-7575 and tell them you need the PA-82H adapter.  Or, you can also get this adapter along with the helicopter to fixed wing adapter which will allow you to use the helicopter adapter with your transceiver.  The benefits to the second way are that you can also use the helicopter to fixed wing adapter with other transceivers or other applications in the future.  And, if you already have the IC-A6 or IC-A24 transceiver, you should already have the OPC-499 headset adapter so you just need the helicopter to fixed wing adapter.

A: This will not work on the KX-99, however we do have one that will work.  You can find it here:  Headset Adapter for Bendix King KX-99.

  • Saturday, August 14, 2010

    Q: does it connect to a A 20 or A21

A: No, for either the IC-A20 or IC-A21 you would need the Headset Adapter for Icom A2, A20, A21 Transceivers.

Q: I have a Icom IC-A22 Transceiver I can't find any place that has the female outlet that looks like the plug that you show. Is it different?? Thanks

A: The single female connecting plug that you see at the top of the picture is used to connect to the Icom Push-to-Talk Switch.

  • Friday, March 28, 2008
