- 4 customer reviews.

FliteStar IFR - The Premier Desktop Flight Planner!
All three versions: VFR, IFR, and Corporate FliteStar revolutionize desktop flight planning with extraordinary graphics, superior routing algorithms, blazing speed, and much more - all contained within an incredibly easy-to-use interface. The amazing vivid colors and high definition make FliteStar's customizable maps a cut above the competition.
FliteStar IFR v9.0 is the world's leading desktop flight planner! It includes
all of the features of FliteStar VFR and Jeppesen's exclusive VectorPlus mapping
technology and vector chart themes, which offer Jeppesen low and high altitude
enroute chart emulations as well as user-customizable charts. FliteStar's chart
filtering features allow you to select which chart items are depicted.
Intelligent chart de-clutter automatically minimizes label overwrite, making
charts easier to read. FliteStar's GPS-direct router avoids airspace vertically
as well as laterally, when asked to do so. Integrated terrain data makes your
planning easier and more complete by displaying the color-coded elevation
information in both the planview and profile views.
Weather animation capabilities allow Jeppesen weather images, including
satellite and radar images, to be shown in moving sequence, thus depicting
weather trend information.
And, with release v9.0, cloud bases are automatically shown in the profile view
when your weather briefing is complete.
FliteStar takes full advantage of Windows 32-bit technology allowing you to
customize your screen layout. You can adjust your display to show just a single
chart, multiple charts, toolbars, and information bars, or anything in between.
FliteStar v9.0 IFR includes all of the charting, display, and planning features
described here and more:
- TFR view and avoid information directly from the FAA

Flitestar a winner by Alton Marsh from Frederick, MD
Pros: Provides exact weight and balance for your airplane and load. Gets you off the ground in minutes on the day of your flight. Cons: Takes setup time to enter weight and balance information for specific aircraft and weather account passwords. Review: I've had FliteStar from the time it was a Mentor product. Yes, I have had the occasional need to chat with Jeppesen support folks just as I did the Mentor support people back in the 1980s. But that is true of all software. Once it is set up with the specific weight and balance of your aircraft and the information needed for your automated weather briefing, it is set for the life of that computer. I've had other pilots approach me on the ramp and ask for a weight and balance calculation, assuming I have their specific airplane in my database. I keep separate weight and balance files on all the aircraft I fly. In minutes you can let it plan your IFR or VFR route, automatically obtain the weather briefing and place the weather on the map for you, print out exactly what you need for the destination airport including frequencies, and go. It yanks down an entire legal weather briefing and NOTAMS briefing in usually less than one minute. I have never had an IFR route planned by FliteStar rejected by ATC. While others are running their thumb over the map to plan an IFR route, usually coming up with a result that the FAA controllers don't like, I am plugging in the exact route along with needed intersections into my GPS. I hear, 99 percent of the time, "cleared as filed." If you are new to it, maybe it does seem complicated. I can remember times of real frustration with the software, but the bottom line is that I am always ahead of other pilots in weight and balance calculations and flight planning plus weather briefings.

Great software by Citation Pilot from Mexico
Pros: Very helpful tool Cons: expensive, and pricey updates Review: EVRYTHING you need for your IFR routes. Easy to use.

To complicated by andrew from manassas park VA USA
Pros: Graphics look nice, Cons: see above, to many features I don't like. It seems the program was developed by very literate programmers and not designed for pilots who have no real desire, or time to mess with the program Review: To many features you find you need are available with an additional purchase. The program is really difficult to wade your way thru. It will do the basic stuff, but saving, retrieving, modifying are difficult. I would not have bought it

Better flight planner software is out there by redhillaz from Tucson, AZ
Pros: Integrates well with JeppView Cons: broken features haven't been fixed for years Review: OK flight planning software, it does integrate with
JeppView well if you use that service. However, it requires both JeppView and Flitestar subscriptions to keep it updated which are pricey. There are features of the product that don't work for which Jeppesen hasn't released a fix for over two years. You can't import/export aircraft models for instance.
